  1. Just gross and wrong to assume his kid is going to lose his repechage match and possible Bronze match. There are a couple people I seriously wonder what the hell is wrong with. This and the other one (RAFwiki) talking about his wife and kids in derogatory ways. Grow the F up!

  5. Greetings guy. I am just at awe with the depth of everyone's knowledge in wrestling. I follow Iran's wrestling, being from Iran, at a high level. But the type of information you guys share in this forum is super amazing. I have commented in different sports forums and most of the times the level of discussion is trash talking and no technical points are ever exchanged. I just want to say that you guys are super amazing and super knowledgeable about the sport. This goes to both the Iranian and non Iranian commenters.

  6. Me too - he should not have had to cut to 197 because he is a 213, unfortunately that weight class only exists at every level but NCAAs.

  7. The British surrender to and collaboration with their Muslim invaders is more shameful than the French surrender to and Vichy collaboration with the Nazis. At least the Nazis needed bombers, tanks, and machine guns to subjugate the French. All the Muslims have to do is have dark beards and a reputation for mindless violence. The men are an issue also.

  8. you're almost certainly wrong. I don't even know what about that video makes you think that workout was not appropriate. I know we're in the era where they just play dodgeball but even suriano had to drill that one time.

  9. I'll give one honest reply, do with it as you please. Let me be clear, I am not speaking about what Greco is or can be at the higher levels, but what Greco was to me as a fairly successful high school folk and freestyle wrestler. I liked too shoot. I primarily scored off of my shot. I was never a big fan of just standing in there and banging around in the handfight. All I wanted to do was get to a decent position where I could get my hands locked around a leg. I felt like from that point, I was going to win a lot more exchanges than I lost. Scrambles are fun. Having a multitude of options to finish a shot as well as ways to defend a shot keeps positions fluid and constantly evolving which kept the sport from feeling monotonous and stale. I didn't like how limited Greco felt to me. My opponent knows that I am trying to get to underhooks/bodylocks, he knows to watch for a headlock, and he knows to watch for an armspin. Those moves and a high-dive are about the only things I had in my arsenal. When I wrestled Greco, I found it difficult to get to good scoring positions and I didn't enjoy just standing there grabbing each others wrists and trying to pummel to get into good enough position to attempt a scoring move. There weren't as many scoring exchanges in Greco and often just a takedown or maybe two would be the only scoring in a match (granted this was the reverse bodylock era after the first minute of each period, and that was actually pretty fun). I had just as much success in Greco on the state level as I did in Freestyle, but I just didn't enjoy it as much and I didn't feel like the style suited my strengths of scrambling and being able to out-maneuver my opponent once we got into wrestling positions. I am curious what you have to say in response to this part, since obviously your kids are doing exactly what I am about to say. I never understood, and still don't understand, how anyone can just go into the practice room and wrestle Greco every day. As I stated above, we would wrestle Greco for two-weeks before Greco State and I was so tired of pummeling and trying to dig inside for the same exact same positions over and over for just those practices. It felt so one dimensional and boring to me. I don't mean that to be disrespectful towards Greco, it was just how I felt about that style of wrestling versus Folk/Free. That is the genuine answer to why I never considering switching to Greco. I found it boring and one dimensional in comparison to the other styles. I am curious what your boys would say in response. It seems like once you reach the level that your sons are at, it would be incredibly difficult to have "fun" working on the very very minute details that separate very good Greco wrestlers from the truly elite Greco wrestlers over and over every day. Honestly, what do Otto and Max work on day to day? In folk/free that are endless setups, fakes, and combinations so that you can always continue playing with new ideas. It just seems like there are only so many different things you can do in Greco in comparison. That is my feeling as someone that casually wrestled Greco here and there in high school. I'm sorry for going to long in my reply, but I am treating your question as a genuine one and wanted to give you an honest and genuine answer.

  10. Tom Ryan will stay as long as he wants for many reasons. The program is good…but they’re a markedly better dual team than tournament team. He’s a coach who has won almost 80% of his teams duals over 19 years (will hit 250 wins this season). But more importantly there isn’t a ton of vested interest in wrestling so if you have a coach who consistently has you’re team in the top 10 nationally the administration is NOT going to mess with that. Keep the obscure feather in your hat and keep moving. Also, even a cursory look at the sport will tell them that no one is or has been getting team titles for a decade now. And while we as fans feel we underperform pretty consistently come NCAAs the administration is pretty content with saying just go finish top 4…or come close cause we know this is basically an out of your control. As long as PSU and their coaching tree (Mainly just DT) control the sport there is no reason to put him or any of the blue chip teams coaches on the hot seat really.

  12. Normally, the media doesn’t lie outright by claiming something occurred that didn’t. They exaggerate, omit context, and spin information. So when multiple articles on the left and right say that Blake was heckling, we can accept that as true. It is further supported by the same behavior at several Trump rallies. What is less heard of is the idea of someone being assaulted because of their shirt and nothing else. That was all one needed to know! You were basically the only person insisting this was an attack because of the shirt. That insistence is what made me rewatch the videos. If you slow the footage down, you can see Blake yelling at the stage.

  14. Hence, all the socialized medicine folks have to do is form a voluntary mutual benefit society and start paying each others' bills. Maybe call is a Medical Club with its own hospitals, network of providers, ERs, etc. "Lawfully forced without . . . equivalent exchange" is a logical impossibility. There is no lawful forcing. Taxation with representation within the constraints of constitutional restriction on government activities is as much "forcing" as can be valid and ethical. Every other type of force is unlawful and stealing and abominable. Aside - this is why deficit spending is so despicable. We are taxing the future and they don't get to vote on it. Horrible.

  19. Stop lying please. There is no video of her yelling before she is assaulted. Lol you’re really splitting hairs to say Trump’s comments weren’t cheering the assault. It 100% was a fascist action for the police to only remove the victim who was being assaulted, and not the perpetrators.

  20. Under no circumstances should backups be entered into conference tournaments or NCAAs. Talent concentration is already too pooled in the major programs. Give backups more opportunities and it's only going to condense the talent further.

  27. Yes, you are right on this one. With respect to freedom of speech, by law both the previous and current administrations get technical Fs. The previous administration gets a moral F, and this one gets a much higher grade on the points below. The previous administration gets an F for using government agencies to coerce people and companies into suppressing speech. This administration makes me think about the speech issue more carefully. Initially, I believe the White House should have every right to block access for dishonest media. Where I refine my thinking is by considering how much control I have over who decides what is honest and what values that person applies. It is better to err on the side of access, even for dishonest media. The main reason for my poor score of the previous administration is that it suppressed objective health facts and knowingly pushed obvious lies. I would have been less upset if it had only suppressed obvious lies. I also believe schools should be free to teach DEI frameworks and gender-identity concepts, so long as students are not required to take them, and taxpayers should not have to pay for that education. When I need a default for which morals rank higher, I use the New Testament Christian culture that dominated when this country was founded.

  28. For me, greco was not only offered but encouraged. Trained at Overtime (Bormet's club back when clubs were starting to be a Big Thing) and Team Illinois began running roughshod on the country in free and greco at the high school level which eventually bubbled up to the collegiate folk level after a terribly long drought.

  31. another crazy day of wrestling and we have not even made it to the semis yet... 20 year old Goriaev in a very competitive match with 2X world champ Ganizade and was up 5-2 with about 30 seconds left and gives up a 4 but Ganizade blows his knee out in the process... tries to continue after screaming on the mat but can not put any pressure on the leg at all and gives up an immediate TD and then is stretchered off... obviously tough for Ganizade, but, it was a super competitive match throughout before the injury... Goriaev with Sohrabi next, which, probably is bad news for Benji who wrestled extremely well today and was up 4-1 late against Goriaev before a caution and 2 refusing to open up in par terre and then par terre restart and turn to lose 5-4... but benji looked really good in both matches... Kayaalp gets dropped in the 1/4s in a pretty big upset after giving up an early arm spin for 4 to the the Fin... i cant see finland getting past heyadati which would mean Kayaalp will not get pulled back in... crazy Schultz lost against Egypt in match he sorta gave away by deciding to stop controlling center in the 1st and giving up the first passivity point... he still has no par terre at all... at some point that should become a point of empahsis... Egypt then goes down in the 1/4s in an absolute wild one to the bulgarian... neither of them brought any defense at all to the match and just decided to trade big heavy throws... young at 97 loses his first match, but, actually scored a TD on croatia... croatia loses next match and young is out... Sohrabi out of control good... Saravi basically unchallenged... Heyadati far and away the class of heavy... Iran just miles ahead of everyone right now top to bottom...

  32. How many of those matches were competitive? Less than 10? One thing that I don't understand is when people talk about guys competing "too much." Maybe wrestling practice is completely different now than it was during my high school/college experience, but a good warm-up and a single match was a lot easier than a typical practice.

  33. In general, it also helps to be pleasant and to not make enemies. If you aren't doing a lot of winning, it is best not to make waves. I can see Beichner as someone who may not have always been a shiny happy person holding hands. Maybe an isolated incident: he called me up one morning, while I was at work, to chew me out about one of my athletes whom he was recruiting. It was off-the-mat stuff caused by the kids less than desirable family situation (that was affecting his Buffalo recruiting) but I was getting chewed out for it. Kid ended up at a different school and all-Americaned, so he overcame his home life, but I was left with a very bad taste in my mouth for that program.
