  1. Regarding Amouzad's match against Tevanyan - First of all this was so un Amouzad like.. he was a Rahim, not bi rahm... he was playing the defensive tactic the whole time and then running away from Tevanyan the last minute.. what I like to find out what happened was the break with 4 seconds left in the match.. there was an intense discussion with the side ref (sorry don't know the proper terminology - the ref on the side outside of the mat) and the mat judge.. It was very intense and I am not sure whether he was complaining as to why the ref had not cautioned Amouzad.. but whatever transpired in that break, had a direct result on the remaining 4 seconds. If anyone can explain, it will be much appreciated.
  2. Greetings guy. I am just at awe with the depth of everyone's knowledge in wrestling. I follow Iran's wrestling, being from Iran, at a high level. But the type of information you guys share in this forum is super amazing. I have commented in different sports forums and most of the times the level of discussion is trash talking and no technical points are ever exchanged. I just want to say that you guys are super amazing and super knowledgeable about the sport. This goes to both the Iranian and non Iranian commenters.
  3. Can someone explain what was said in Iran's media regarding Amouzad's dad/family that was taken as if they were making fun of them?
  4. Anyone wanna chime in on Danial Sohrabi's match against Ebrahim Ganeh of France? Was the ending justified... also the other wrestler, Vafa, lost to Japanese wrestler 5-5... I did not watch it... any comments on that one please
  5. Did you guys see Abdevali wrestle in semis? I know it was a 5-1 defeat... curious to know how it really was... I remember how his brother, Saeed, unjustly lost to the French wrestler and in the Asian games I believe lost to the Korean wrestler, again unfairly.
  6. Oh you are so correct about Zare. He is only a year older than Amouzad. They have to catch Abdollah Movahed and Yazdani to be considered Iran's GOAT.
  7. Thank you. Appreciate that.
  8. Wow thank you for that detailed response. I completely agree with you. It's also interesting you mentioned Amouzad moving up on weight. That is absolutely the right approach if he wants to keep wrestling. And you are absolutely right about the medal counts for Yazdani in comparison to Amouzad, 10 v 3 (counting Worlds and Olympics). Now speaking of Yazdani, if he doesn't wrestle anymore, where is his place in Iran's wrestling and also where would you place him all time in the world?
  9. Guys, I’m curious to hear your thoughts on Rahman’s overall chances of becoming the greatest Iranian wrestler of all time. Of course, winning Olympic gold is a must, but considering he’s only 23, he could realistically compete into his early 30s. If he manages to rack up more World Championship golds and secure that Olympic gold, where would you rank him among Iran’s all-time greats?
  10. Other than the USA, Iran, Japan, and Russia—nations that continue to develop and showcase their own top wrestlers—many other so-called “powerhouse” countries lean heavily on imported talent. A big share of these recruits come from Russia itself, with places like Bahrain fielding Russian wrestlers under their flag. This trend not only props up the results of those countries but also dilutes Russia’s own strength on the international stage. On top of that, the absence of Abdulrashid Sadulaev, one of Russia’s biggest stars, further hurt their chances of placing higher in the overall team rankings. Taken together, Russia’s performance looked subpar compared to its potential, largely because so many of its athletes were wearing different colors. Do you agree?
