I fortunately had the opportunity to talk with Bo multiple times this weekend and it seemed like he absolutely loved Nebraska. Obviously with him being on an OV he's not going to say he hates the city, but seeing him interact with the athletes, coaches, and fans makes me want to say that Nebraska is the favorite to land him right now.4 points

Nothing will ever top Kazakhstan taking home 2nd in the team race when they hosted in 2019. Not even Micic getting a 14 kg allowance! (there is not enough tin foil in the world for me to actually believe that conspiracy btw)3 points

To me the only "slippery slope" I have seen is to continually let criminals get more and more emboldened to cause more and more crime...that worries me WAY more than ever thinking the government is going to slowly use the military to take over cities and the people.3 points

It's not 'September to March'. apparently the issue was/is that winter athletes can't compete (in anything) from the classes start at their university until November 1st. on the Nomad front - he's a moron. he has bizarre takes in all facets of life, including wrestling and zero experience in either business or growing a wrestling product. he talks out his ass. one of his tweets said the money the (private corporation) RAF is spending would be of better use if it were donated to JR Highs. smh. this is a human who once said he 'doesn't trust refrigerators in texas' seriously. we (flo) literally had a spreadsheet of all the absurd takes he made.3 points

Everybody wants the file released. Why do you keep asking? Have you seen anyone on here saying dont release the files? Btw: Vak is an independent source/attorney who we all respect. We have 110% zero confidence in your "friend."2 points

One thing of note is that, and this could just be the rum talking (I know... I know... 8:40 AM on a Tuesday while you're at a school!?), but he looked leaner when he was a Junior in HS compared to now. If that is the case, then he has lost some mass during a critical growing point in his life, while attempting to stay within striking distance of 70 KG. I imagine the first MFS tournament we see him enter after Worlds/U23s will be telling (Bill Farrell at 74 KG anyone?).2 points

How many fans of international wrestling are there? As in, people who actually know non American wrestlers by name, their present form, and their accomplishments. A few thousand at best? Maybe much less. Sadulaev has a little microcelebirty status and name id, but other than him? My impression is that the biggest bloc of "international wrestling fans" (that aren't family members or former competitors) are hard core college wrestling fans who keep following these D1ers after they graduate. They know about domestic results and relive college matches through the domestic senior level season and intra American matchups. To them every foreign wrestlers is just some no name with a nationality based descriptor. Only Americans' performances matter (this American wrestled well, that other American did bad, this American would have done better). Nolf on today's FRL, I think is illustrative of some of these attitudes. Despite being a former senior level wrestler one year removed from competing, he had no clue Akgul retired, didn't know Geno was not retired, and had no insights to give about the 125kg field. He used the standard template rinse and repeat of "X American rep at Y weight is super good, he's my pick to win gold" that most wrestlers who don't follow wrestling use when they get asked questions by the wrestling media. Sort of a non sequitur, but if the competitors don't even care to learn about foreign wrestlers why should the fans? It does feel strange.2 points

It might be pathetic in your opinion, but more people voted for Trump than voted for Kamala. In an election, that is what counts, voter turnout. More people voted that this was not a thing to get all riled up about. Else their vote would have gone to Harris. It was apparent that there was a way different standard placed on the jan 6 crowd than any other riot that caused way more damage. You can say it was the Capitol and I wish it hadn't happened. Those that destroyed property or assaulted cops should not have been pardoned. But for the rest, the punishment did not fit the crime and I have no problem with them being pardoned. When cities allow the burning down of their cities and do not go after the perps like they did with Jan 6, it is easy to see that this was treated way differently than the others and I think that is why it is not considered as big a deal on the right as it is on the left, just like burning of cities is a bigger deal to the right than to the left. Lawlessness is rampant. It all needs to be treated equally. If so, I don't think we would have seen a Jan 6, and I don't think cities would continue to have the crime problems they currently have. It is all related to a lack of enforcement of the law. Some people just open their windows and smell the freedom of burning tires and cars and are happy about it. That is just as wrong as Jan 6 in my opinion. Jan 6 was not a coup, nor was it an attempted coup. It was a demonstration that got out of control. Like I said, those that assaulted cops or bldg need to be jailed and not pardoned. It was the most peaceful coup attempt in the history of world coups. Where were the grenade launchers, the automatic rifles, the semi automatic rifles, the handguns, the knives, etc etc. It was no coup attempt. It was angry people feeling that they had been cheated. With a record number of votes for Biden and a record number of votes in total, something did seem out of place. 2012 65.9 million votes for Obama 60.9 votes for Romney 126.8 million total votes 2016 65.8 million votes for Hillary 63 million for Trump (but he won the electoral college which is what is important) 128.8 million votes total 2020 81.3 million votes for Biden 74.2 million for Trump 155.5 million total votes 2024 75.0 million votes for Kamala 77.3 million for Trump 152.3 million total votes There is a step jump to Biden and then a step down to Kamala. Where did all those votes come from? Trump did way better in 2020 than he did in 2016 yet still lost tremendously. That was at the center of the vote issue that was the reason for the Jan 6 demonstration. Trump got more votes than any candidate ever in 2020, except Biden jumped the shark. The damage to the Capitol bldg pales in comparison to the damage from the George Floyd riots that went on all summer long with nary an arrest made on any perp. A stunning result that I'm sure allowed the Jan 6 folks to not think too much of what they were doing. What they did was wrong granted. Those that assaulted should still be put away granted. mspart2 points

If there are just as many liberal billionaires donors on the list as billionaire MAGA donors it would be a self inflicted wound to them. They probably weighed the cost/benefit analysis of Taking Trump down and realized it would be world ending for everyone involved so they didn't go there... I think we still all underestimate just what people are willing to do to keep their wealth and power intact. We are on here fighting incessantly because that's exactly what all these oligarchs want. If we ever agreed that we had more in common than we don't and turned our collective ire at them to make things better or face the consequences - it would be devastating to them from both influence and a money perspective. We now are so entrenched on our own tribes that even when there is something basic like kids not going hungry at school or people being allowed to keep firearms (albeit as long as they aren't nuts) out starting point is at the very end of the continuum and we won't even consider it. We disagree just because people are on opposite teams which is ridiculous. The Epstein files are a nuclear bomb and democrats and republicans/MAGA live in the same house. They pass the bomb back and forth and hate each other but neither are willing to detonate it because self preservation is more important than taking out their foe.1 point

There is a guy that works where I work whose last name is Micic. I asked if he was related and he knew all about Micic the wrestler. I think he was an uncle or something. Anyway, he was impressed I knew about Stevan. I will be a good week next week for World Wrestling fans. Hopefully great news for US wrestling fans. mspart1 point

I think Trump has an important issue here. I'm not sure about National Guard having a hand in it, but if he sends in ICE etc and they are not protected in doing their duty, then NG might be the answer. I'd rather they were not involved but I also believe it is a well established line of defense that has been used by both sides over the years, most recently by NY Gov on securing NYC subways. I don't seen much difference here except that the IL and MA govs don't want NG to come and Trump is trying to force the issue. The Feds have leeway to protect federal officers if locals won't. mspart1 point

It just never came up to any significant extent in the news and there was never extremely strong evidence re: sex crimes by a President; somebody that is literally in charge of the country. Evidence has mounted though, against him. Expose the truth.1 point

So you say nothing because "no one campaigned on it"? What happened to this is a right or wrong issue? You say "we have morals" but I say only when you think it benefits you. This is a classic case in point. If it was all that important to you on a moral basis, you would have been just as animated about this during Bidens term. But you were not. They were pedophiles then too. Not just all of the sudden. mspart1 point

Release the files and we will see who are the perverts in government and high society and mucks in CEO penthouses. The left is so myopic on this that if it can get Trump, it is worth all the collateral damage to their party. That was not the case during the Biden admin. But now the hate for Trump is such that they are out for him no matter who on their side gets burned. Quite a turn around. Not a peep the last 4 years. Not one. Now peeps is peeping peeps. I don't mind. Get it out there. mspart1 point

Pittsburgh is a great town, I know I liked it and western PA and PA in general is amazing in terms of wrestling. Hard to say no to that. Personally, I don’t love Pittsburgh campus because it’s so spread out but Pittsburgh is awesome as a city IMO. Imagine would be cool to have your support system there all the time as well. tough decisions for these kids which is why I am a fan of moving that date back which Willie alluded to.1 point

In the 90s, it seemed like the home nation always did better than expected. This is generally to be expected, but as much as I liked Angle,,, Jadidi wins the 96 final in Iran (or maybe anywhere outside of US). The draws in Kazakhstan were nuts.1 point

I think he will just need to avoid putting on weight because his body is going to be a sponge from being in such a restricted state for so long. I think that is what happened to levi once he decided 157 was no longer an option. u23's could actually benefit him in that he wont have much time to get big involuntarily. I more so worry about the pull coupled with the grind of the season if his body just is not able to recover properly as the season winds on.1 point

I don't think he ever intended to or cared about it. It was just one of many lies he told to get people to vote for him. The thing with Trump is, pretty much his whole life has been privileged. Daddy bought his education, gave him a "job", had people around him so he couldn't mess up too much. He's never really faced any consequences or anything, so to him he's been able to do and say whatever he wants with nothing happening to him. Like bragging about committing sexual assault, making fun of a handicapped person, etc. He assumed saying that would be like any other thing he's said, where he never gets held accountable. Or he could spin it into something else, like how he was an FBI informant all along, and pretend like he never really said it. This is different, and partially it's his own doing. He campaigned heavily on and gave tacit approval to wackos who believe that QAnon is real, that he was going after supposed pedophiles and satanists who prey on children, and now that he's obstructing documents that could reveal some truth to who might have been involved in child trafficking and sex abuse, he won't do it. So some of those angry cranks are turning against him.1 point

A touch off-topic but the point is...D2/D3 added interest and variables that made the NCAA's even more interesting. Article written for last months AWN.... My, How Things Have Changed My how things have changed! My time frame reference is 1968-1984, which I believe was the Golden Era of wrestling. That’s when college wrestling was the most healthy, robust, and deep. There were lots of opportunities to wrestle collegiately, more intangibles, and rules that apparently offered more pinning opportunities. That 16 year time span averaged 63 falls/13 OT’s per tourney vs 32 falls/26 OT’s per tourney for the last 16 years on the championship side of the bracket. My, how things have changed. There were no tech falls, no video reviews, no bricks, no grad school competitors, no 7th year seniors, no Olympic redshirts, no transferring without penalty, no choice to avoid mat wrestling, no “cheap tilts,” no touch falls, individual dual matches could end in a draw, and for years you could only wrestle back if you lost to a semifinalist or finalist. Matches were 2-3-3 vs the present 3-2-2. Overtime was 1-1-1. Here is a very small sampling of the scores from that period. Cleo McGlory (U of Okla) 21-4 in ’68, Steve Dildine (Alabama) 27-3 in ‘70, Don Rohn (Clarion) 26-6 in ’73, Gary Breece (U of Okla) 24-2 in 74, Nabil Guketlov (Montclair St.) 26-9 in ‘75, Mark Churella (Mich) 34-4 in ’77, Shawn Whitcomb (Mich St.) 30-7 in ’79, Charlie Heard (Univ Tenn-Chatt) 32-12 in ‘83, Joe Gibbons (Iowa St) 32-0 and Melvin Douglas (Univ of Okla) 35-5 in ’84. That’s a lot of wrestling, fans loved it, and those guys refused to be pinned! Why are those kinds of scores are no longer allowed? My, how things have changed. The top 2 finishers, plus 2 wild cards in D2 and the D3 NCAA Championships (college division prior to ’74) were invited to compete in the D1 NCAA until ’92, and it made a difference. Consider this abbreviated list of D2/D3 wrestlers who stood at the top of podium in d1: Rich Sanders (Portland St.), Stan Dziedzic (Slippery Rock), Wade Schalles (Clarion), Joe Gonzales (CSU-Bakersfield) Carlton Haselrig (Pitt-Johnstown 3x D2/D1 NCAA Champ) and D3 NCAA Champ Ken Mallory (Montclair St.). The powers that be fixed that in 1992. Go away, you have your own tournament! How different would the individual D1 results or the team scores have been, post ’92, if undefeated (131-0) 4x D2 NCAA champion Joey Davis (Notre Dame (OH), or any of the other 3x D2/D3 champions and the wild cards competed? Freshman and multiple time NCAA champions are not unique in a field of 78 or so. There were four freshman champs from ’68 to ’84 (approximately 350 schools), 13 in the last 16 years (approximately 77 schools), and 21 total since ’85. In ’78 they awarded 6 AA’s (1.65%) from a total field of 363. Now they award 8 AA’s (10.39%) from a total field of 77. Perhaps limit AA to top 6 or even top 3 or 4. Though largely no fault of their own, the estimated number of college wrestling programs at all collegiate levels has dwindled from 777 in 1972 to 273 total programs in 2025. Restricting the NCAA to only D1 since ‘92, along with the progressive rules changes, has diminished the sport. Wouldn’t allowing D2/D3, Junior College, and even NAIA into D1 add more suspense, depth, breadth, excitement, interest, and viewership and unite the entire wrestling community? There are some positive changes in the current rules. Riding time in OT has value and eliminates supposed unbiased officials from deciding victors via Referees Decision. Another positive change is the Double Elimination bracket. This type of consolation wrestle-back offers a truer outcome for those wrestlers eliminated in the championship bracket, and every single competitor other than the finalists receive a chance to come back and place. And probably the biggest bright spot today is that NCAA wrestling is televised on BTN, ESPN and other conference networks instead of only ABC Wide World of Sports as a 10 minute, once-a-year, heavily edited, side note. That has added to the amount of money wrestlers now command in college, and how nice to see a financial reward FINALLY for so much hard work in a sport that has few equals as far as physical challenges and the amount of work it takes to be an NCAA champion. My how things have changed.1 point
