It's like I've read this thread and have responded to items before. The issue for the trans individual is very complicated I agree. There is plenty of mental issues involved and if they do transition, a lifetime of mental/psychological therapy that I would wish on no one. But that does not mean participation in sports is complicated. My issues are these: 1. No boys in girls bathrooms and no girls in boys bathrooms. Locker rooms are the same. 2. No boys playing against girls in girls sports. I would prefer that girls not play against boys in boys sports. The physical advantage is not there and there is the element of risk of injury due to this that is the reason there are boys and girls sports. In my mind, the girl is making the decision to compete against stronger and faster athletes. The girls on a team are not making the decision to play against a stronger and faster athlete when a boy enters the scene. It is being forced on them. And from what I have seen, if they complain they are shamed and bullied into submission by admin and coaches. That is just as wrong as bullying trans folks. 3. This is simple with regard to sports, bathrooms, and locker rooms. It is incomprehensible to me that people support boys and men competing against girls and women in girl's and women's sports. It makes no sense to me. mspart4 points

No criteria other than who you think is the best 133-pounder of the last 25 years. We thought that's what would make it more engaging because everyone will have their own criteria on how they define who the best is.4 points

Never has so much time been spent talking about something that hardly ever happens. Thrust me on this, the people who have their panties in a bunch over this not only don’t watch women’s sports, they HATE women’s sports. It’s just an excuse for bigots to bully a marginalized group.4 points

How do we feel about this? Flo's going through the weights, one at a time. They just finished 125, now turning to 133. Personally, I don't have a lot of confidence in their process, since there's definitely some recency bias at work. Part of that is because it's largely dependent on the fan vote, but Flo's commentators are all pretty young and have a recency bias of their own. Hard to see the guys in the first half of that 25 years getting a fair shake. For 125, they had Robles in their final 4 over a number of 2x'ers, and then picked Lee in a landslide. Choosing Lee is defensible, but I'd have picked Abas. Both are 3x'ers, but I'd take Abas's 4-1-1-1 over Lee's 1-1-1-6, particularly with Abas finishing on a 95 match win streak. Lee has a couple Hodges, which helps his case, but it's not Abas's fault he existed at the same time as Cael. (He was runner up to Cael in Hodge voting 2x.) Lee was better on top (and a higher bonus rate as a result), but if you lived through the Abas era you'd remember how untouchable he was on his feet, and how utterly inconceivable it was that he'd lose. For 133, Flo's "final 4" includes none of the 2x'ers from 2000 to 2010 (Thompson, Jurgens, Valenti), but instead includes only the most recent multi-time champs. I'm guessing Stieber's 4 titles will get him the spot, as it should. But still, it's a shame the less recent wrestlers are treated as afterthoughts. It would've been better if Flo called it the "Last 15 Years Team." Still, it's a fun exercise. It'll be interesting to see where they serve up wrestlers who spanned multiple weights equally.3 points

An analysis of the situation by Jonathan Turley. https://jonathanturley.org/2025/06/09/always-ready-always-there-democrats-mobilize-against-the-national-guard-deployment/ Below is my column in Fox.com on the deployment of National Guard in Los Angeles. Another round of court challenges are unfolding, but the escalation is likely to continue on both sides. While the Guard’s motto is “Always Ready, Always There!,” California Democrats do not want them between rioters and federal law enforcement. Here is the column: Gov. Gavin Newsom was in his element this week. After scenes of burning cars and attacks on ICE personnel, Newsom declared that this was all “an illegal act, an immoral act, an unconstitutional act.” No, he was not speaking of the attacks on law enforcement or property. He was referring to President Donald Trump’s call to deploy the National Guard to protect federal officers. Newsom is planning to challenge the deployment as cities like Glendale are cancelling contracts to house detainees and reaffirming that local police will not assist the federal government. Trump has the authority under Section 12406 of Title 10 of the U.S. Code to deploy the National Guard if the president is “unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States.” The Administration is saying that that is precisely what is unfolding in California, where mobs attack vehicles and trap federal personnel. Most critics are challenging the deployment on policy grounds, arguing that it is an unnecessary escalation. However, even critics like Berkeley Law Dean Erwin have admitted that “Unfortunately, President Trump likely has the legal authority to do this.” There is a fair debate over whether this is needed at this time, but the President is allowed to reach a different conclusion. Trump wants the violence to end now as opposed to escalating as it did in the Rodney King riots or the later riots after the George Floyd killings, causing billions in property damage and many deaths. Courts will be asked to halt the order because it did not technically go through Newsom to formally call out the National Guard. Section 12406 grants Trump the authority to call out the Guard and employs a mandatory term for governors, who “shall” issue the President’s order. In the memo, Trump also instructed federal officials “to coordinate with the Governors of the States and the National Guard Bureau.” Newsom is clearly refusing to issue the orders or coordinate the deployment. Even if such challenges are successful, Trump can clearly flood the zone with federal authority. Indeed, the obstruction could escalate the matter further, prompting Trump to consider using the Insurrection Act, which would allow troops to participate directly in civilian law enforcement. In 1958, President Eisenhower used the Insurrection Act to deploy troops to Arkansas to enforce the Supreme Court’s orders ending racial segregation in schools. The Trump Administration has already claimed that these riots “constitute a form of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States.” In support of such a claim, the Administration could cite many of the Democratic leaders now denouncing the claim. After January 6th, liberal politicians and professors insisted that the riot was an “insurrection” and, in claiming that Trump and dozens of Republicans could be removed from ballots under the 14th Amendment. Liberal professors insisted that Trump’s use of the word “fight”and questioning the results of an election did qualify as an insurrection. They argued that you merely need to show “an assemblage of people” who are “resisting law” and “using force or intimidation” for “a public purpose.” The involvement of inciteful language from politicians only reinforced these claims. Sound familiar? Democrats are using this order to deflect from their own escalation of the tensions for months. From Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz calling ICE officers “Gestapo” to others calling them “fascists” and “Nazis,” Democratic leaders have been ignoring objections that they are fueling the violent and criminal responses. It did not matter. It was viewed as good politics. While Newsom and figures like Sen. Cory Booker (D., N.J.) have called these “peaceful” protests, rocks, and Molotov cocktails have been thrown at police as vehicles were torched. Police had to use tear gas, “flash bang” grenades, and rubber bullets to quell these “peaceful” protesters. I think he makes interesting points on this situation. The idea of sanctuary states and cities makes people feel safe to do the peaceful protests and destroy property. Like they have a right to do this and when Trump sends in folks to quell this, there is umbrage to this, because they have the right to peacefully protest and destroy stuff. Imagine if you will, how 1970-1990s America would have reacted to ICE or similar going to get illegals out of the country and being confronted with this. There would be zero support for the peaceful protesters. The local LE will not protect ICE et all nor their facilities or else Trump wouldn't have taken the action that he did. As far as Cali is concerned, the feds can protect themselves, except when they do they cry about it. mspart3 points

Unless the woman is raped, in which case then I am okay with the abortion, the woman is not forced. A decision was made, an action was willfully taken, and in doing so another life created. You can try to compare it to dogs or just randomly being forced to provide life support to somebody, but that doesn't change the reality. The baby didn't 'just happen' to be in the woman's body. It was created there by her..and his..actions. Therefore becomes their responsibility, not something forced upon them, or just her. That's the last I'm saying about it. Carry on, i know you have 17 other threads to get to.3 points

Yes, and at Caveira's request, here are my reason's why... 1) This was already in the works well before violent 'protestors' started doing what they are doing. Some of the federal funding has already been secured. Because... 2) Federal funding has always been supportive resources for US cities hosting Olympics, to assist with needs in transportation, venue construction, and other infrastructure that is needed to turn an American city into a host for the Olympics 3) Hosting the Olympics creates jobs and brings in revenues for American businesses throughout the country, not just the host city. Although within the host city it also benefits small local business. 4) This is not about violent idiots, political ideology, red state/cities or blue states/cities. It is about an American city....ie the United States...hosting the Olympics. And there is a lot that comes with that.3 points

One question I have is if there should be a distinction between male-to-female trans athletes that transitioned before vs after puberty. I think if they transitioned before puberty they should definitely be able to compete alongside all other girls. If they transitioned after puberty, maybe there's an argument for not allowing it. I think for almost every sport, anyone of any sex or gender who wants to compete with men should be allowed to. I think intersex individuals should be free to compete with the group they identify as. Maybe there are exceptions to this that I haven't considered, but the women I've read about like Semenya, I think should be able to compete with women. It may be a competitive advantage, but I think that's okay. I don't know of an elite athlete who doesn't have physical advantages that help them be elite.3 points

False, and shows you are out of touch. But keep saying the same thing over and over again if it helps you feel better. Supporting this lunacy is the only "sudden" thing that has happened over the past few years. Biological men should not be competing with women in sports. This isn't difficult. Stop being anti-woman, and do better,3 points

The solution is to not allow it. There is a reason there are boys and girls sports. The one is for boys, and the other is for girls. It is quite simple. mspart2 points

100% In the real world (so not your phone/tv/computer/radio) transgender athletes are treated on a case by case basis. Let the sports administrators do their jobs and stop getting baited into being mad about something that rarely happens and when it does, the people that it actually affects tend to not care or are in support of it. Exactly "Ah yes I will get gender reassignment surgery (painful, expensive, and I'll get ostracized by society) so I can go compete against women for HARDLY ANY GLORY OR MONEY" said nobody2 points

You have to love the regression of the positions of the people here who are brainwashed enough to actually support biological men competing against women: They screech "It never happens!!!!!" Then when shown evidence it absolutely happens, they scream "But it doesn't happen that much!!!" Then when shown evidence it is happening more often than they think and such instances are increasing, suddenly they yell "Oh well, too bad, women should just deal with losing to biological men!!!!!!!"2 points

This is sad and does bring up that we are all mortal and our time can come at anytime, no matter how fit, strong, or healthy we are. Very sad news for Ben's family and Ben. I hope he recovers. I had pneumonia for 2 months last year and the medicines did not work until the third and most extreme type. It just kept spreading. A few days after I got a shot in the butt of the last medicine I felt well enough to go outside and walk, and I still remember being amazed how how it felt to get a full lung of air. I didn't recognize I had much of a problem in that way, but it was incredible. It was a long 2 months let me tell you. I got the pneumonia shot a few months after that. I don't need that again. Best wishes for Ben and his family. mspart2 points

100% agree... this is such a non issue that's being blown up to create manufactured outrage... The amount of news coverage this gets by certain outlets in proportion to the amount of athletes this applies to is asinine. If those news outlets talked about school shootings or even rare diseases affecting people in proportion to this topic it would flood the airways 24/7. Transgender fuss is only happening with a certain subset of people intent on getting 'news' from a few specific outlets...2 points
