  1. The official Iowa State position on the exodus

  2. Yep. It's very different than the past when we had lots of parity and tons of teams winning titles...

  3. With the influx of money to athletes, we all know that a system of teams with $$$$ to give and teams that do not is in the process of being created. Well, when folks look back 5 years from now, I believe it will be clear in hindsight that in 2025, we were already there. We will further solidify a few teams with lots of $$$$ and kids scrambling to get in. Going to highest bidder. A few teams will have the very best and the when a kid shines at a low $$$ school, they hop ship to the big $$$ school. The sport will suffer as a result. Teams will lose fans. Some will gain but the severe imbalance will reduce intrigue, uncertainty and excitement. Can already see this with the boredom many have with PSU’s dominance. What I’m not sure about is whether college sports will splinter. With low / no $$$ teams having no interest in competing against the high $$$ teams. Will be interesting to see how this part unfolds.

  5. RV perhaps the news is true no matter who is reporting it. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/anti-hamas-slogans-gaza-protest-war-israel-ceasefire-rcna198125 March 26, 2025, 2:44 AM PDT By Chantal Da Silva In a rare show of dissent, anti-Hamas slogans were shouted by some protesters as hundreds of people gathered in northern Gaza to call for an end to the war. Does that make you feel better now? mspart

  6. Having been involved in a program for quite a while, I cannot disagree with this more. Please give me an example of a school that has chosen "not to act"? What does that even mean? Cal State Bakersfield is a school that has to self fund 100% - their entire program. On top of just running the program with coaching, academics, recruiting, etc. - they have to raise money for the operating costs of the entire program. It's a good thing they have Stephen Neal working on that. So while some schools have massive donors, CSUB does not. Please don't say they can just work harder and go out and get some. They are working their butts off to do that. In reality, Bob can write a check this morning for 50k that he wont' notice.... the time and effort to raise that at Bakersfield is very heavy. The amount of money that teams have to work with is all about their donor base, not how hard they working. PSU, Iowa, etc. are not doing the same kind of fund raising that low budget teams are doing. All they do is ask for a check and they get it. In turn, they get to focus their time and energy on coaching, developing and recruiting.

  7. If you think a school like Ohio State and Cleveland State or Kent State have the same opportunities, I don't know what to tell you. Schools make money on football, the NCAA makes money on the basketball tournament. Everything else loses money. A huge alumni base makes it much more likely that there is a billionaire alum will to spend on a niche sport.

  10. Nope ... Spencer Lee will be university president by Aug. The first think he'll do is fire Beth allowing TnT to bring back the two lost Ferrari souls. It'll be a season of splits & birds for the happy hawks. If you don't believe me I've got a pastry on speed dial who can confirm. Why do you think he hasn't changed his sig pic.

  13. There was clearly tampering, but since tampering is legal now, it doesn't matter. When the whole Vega/Cornell/OSU flareup happened, I mentioned that this was unethical. I still think it is unethical, but I got a ton of pushback, and there is a good chance this comment will get some pushback as well. As an NC State fan and booster, I am concerned about a couple of our guys in the off season. I know it is different, but the same idea. The Pack has already lost two guys who had verballed this year, but not nearly as good as James. As a fellow ACC guy, I feel for you. (My wife was a Hokie)

  14. The texts were just released in a follow up article, anyone with half a brain would know you don't make public operational plans/details prior to an attack. Not only that, but people on the group chat are getting these communications while in Moscow and Southeast Asia which is truly the height of incompetence. To add to how bad this is even further, there are now reports many of these people were using personal phones while communicating vs the government issued devices. The only people saying it wasn't classified are the very people who's jobs' are on the line for this f*ck up. It's all self preservation and that's what right wing media is telling you to think. Read the damn messages, the only possible takeaway is that they royally screwed up and the denials it isn't classified are making the problem so much worse. i mean for chrissakes even trump said they messed up.

  15. The best thing about this story is that both the outrage, and the brushing of it off, has absolutely nothing to do with what happened and everything to do with who is in the oval office. If this same thing happened two years ago, the comments would basically be the same, just the commenters would just have flipped sides. (And yes we saw plenty of examples over the last few years.....the proof is in the pudding)

  16. Opportunities used to exist for all. Clarion used to have the opportunity for an occasional national champ, then an occasional all-american, now an occasional NQ. Cael Sanderson and Co could coach there and without any resources and an inferior academic school they are not going to become a national power.

  17. you don't think Nebraska develops? they had 8 AA's and a BR guy and all of them except 125 began their career in lincoln.

  18. Nebraska does really well recruiting but and doesn't normally go after a lot of transfers. but they just don't have an answer on their roster at HWT or 141/149 rn. they need 1-year stop gaps. i'm sure they'd love to have Trumble but i think he stays put at NCST. and i really don't know what other quality HWT's are out there. they also need someone for one year at 141/149 (whichever Hardy doesn't go). i'm told Lachlan McNeil is interested.

  28. I agree that is the binary way to look at it. But Jokic and SGA were not allowed to play basketball this season while much of their competition was banned from playing. But I think if ever there was an exception to the binary approach it is in the year where the top two finalist, with very little to separate them, did two (kinda) unprecedented (albeit in different ways) things, in a season that was only granted to them each as an exception.

  33. Quint Kessenich: Dan, with all the great wrestlers on the mat today, how well do you think you would do at the NCAA Tournament? Dan Gable: Well, I figure against today's grapplers that I'd probably win a little more than half of my matches and squeak into the tournament as a 20-something seed. Quint Kessenich: That's surprising. A little more than .500 record? You lost just one time in your collegiate career and won a couple of titles. We'd all like to know why you think you'd struggle to make the NCAA field. Dan Gable: Well, I'm 76 f*cking years old you ignorant SOB.

  36. I just don't even know what to say at this point. I'm sad, disappointed, and find it hard to see any change on the horizon. I can't help but think that between NIL and the freedom of that transfer portal, the reason we all have loved college sports is gone. Commitment.. gone. Loyalty.. gone. Parity (even the little we once had in wrestling).. gone. It's similar to this past week in March Madness. Because of the poaching of athletes from mid-majors, this was the first time in 17 years that every single 1-4 seed won in the first round. March Madness has lost a significant part of the madness because with the freedom of the transfer portal and the NIL money, talent is constantly funneled into the stronger programs with more money to spend. Until we can find some form of regulations in college athletics, this is what we have to look forward to.

  43. OSU has had possibly the best recruiting classes in the last 10-15yrs. When Ryan goes it will be Jaggers. There will be no change... Sasso is not what OSU needs as an assistant... There is nothing confusing about it really. Paddy doesn't have it. Kharch is done. It's time for Kilkeary. Davino is going to get his chance. Bouzakis is comparable to Paddy at this point. Hepner and Geog are done. Shumate had an up year. Feldman can't get bigger or faster, he's stuck. D'Emilio had a nice career and will be missed. Hopefully Welsh doesn't, "up and split" to OKST. Cannon was great at the end of the season. Looking forward to the new guys and hopefully Kilkeary, Davino, Welsh, Birden, Cannon... Fifth place with what OSU had doesn't seem to terrible, but I believe they've looked pretty stale for some time. I also fully agree with the little effort OTC is making. Why even have it...
