Iowa/PSU week is upon us. #1 vs #2 Anything can happen. Throw out the record books when these two meet. But before you throw it out here are a few tidbits from it: Iowa leads the all-time series 28-13-2, though PSU is on a three dual winning streak. Largest Iowa Margin of Victory = 33 (1990 @ Iowa City 36-3) Largest PSU Margin of Victory = 23 (2024 @ Iowa City 29-6) I took a look back and was surprised to see this is year four of aggregating predictions on the Iowa/PSU dual duel. As in years past, post your match by match predictions here. I will aggregate the results along with predictions I find on HVI and HR to come up with a "wisdom of the crowds" prediction as well as a closest to the pin prediction. Iowa/PSU Prediction Hall of Fame: 2022 - @flyingcement while only getting 8 of 10 matches correct (9 was the highest @Plasmodium, and PSUNatChamps) cement defied gravity and all others in nailing the final score PSU 19 - Iowa 13 2023 - @Barracuda141 & @PortaJohn both failed to live up to concrete's level of perfection, but did come within 2 points of nailing the final score. Meanwhile @Mr. PeanutButter and @Holtfan went a perfect 10 for 10 picking individual match winners. 2024 - For 2024 I got a little carried away with scoring, but lets just focus on team score and correct matches for now. Come on down @MLB9 & @Dogbone and accept your nomination to the HOF for closest to the pin final score within 1 point. Getting 9 of 10 was so easy that even your author achieved it (without any actual knowledge of wrestling) along with @Interviewed_at_Weehawken, @CHROMEBIRD, @Truzzcat, and @Perry Prediction Tie Breaker: What weight does Gabe "Head Hunter" Arnold wrestle? 174? 184? No weight at all?2 points

The way to win this competition is by being bold. But there isn't really anything bold about a PSU blowout. The only "bold "picks I can make are Davis beating Ayala if he wrestles, Starocci majoring rather than a straight decision, and Barr with the upset (if you can call it that). If Ayala doesn't wrestle then Davis might be in the hunt for a major or tech. SVN and Parco feel like a coin toss and I wouldn't be surprised to see flip-flopping back-and-forth results this weekend/B1Gs/NCAAs. LOL, that reminds me of a personal anecdote. My Fr year I wrestled 145. The coach released us for Christmas break. I watched my weight and ate responsibly and came back from the break still weighing about 145. Our 115 pounder walked up to me in the hallway between classes and told me "well I guess you have to move up to 157 pounds this week". I responded "why would I do that?". He replied "oh, well Dale (the 125 pounder) ate too much over the break and weighs 147 pounds now. I responded "screw Dale, let him wrestle 157 pounds, he's fatter than I am". 115 replied "I guess that means you'll have to rank him!!", and I said "yeah, that's how it works". That Friday I pinned Dale in about 45 seconds and he was the 157 pounder for a couple weeks, until he got down to 135 (he could beat the 135 pounder).2 points

I want to step in here with you, but SVN - Lovett was 2-2 with a minute left in the match, so basing this off of a 10-2 Major isn't really that good, man... and it was in Nebbie! SVN has destroyed everyone else this year and between his first and second match with Parco, the gap widened. SVN is in the better room. The maths is mathing the wrong way, here brada. I want to help you and take one of the bettors off your hands, but I feel the need to tell you that Iowa-Penn State is also in Penn State this year. Pleeeeease don't go through with it. I don't want to see you hurt! Also, I don't want to have to change my avatar to mirror yours again (in to something silly... because I'll do it!).2 points

He didn't get bonus last year, wrestling a smaller Kueter who was coming off of football season. No reason to think he would this year. Multiple people on this board were picking Feldman to major Kueter too. He hasn't been what I had hoped, but how about a little respect.? One time U20 World champ, two time finalist.2 points

Yeah, history tells us to doubt a superstar freshman upperweight at Penn State. Those guys never make a run, as opposed to upperweights from Iowa and Michigan, who always live up to expectations at nationals. *jerkoff motion*2 points

@Wrestleknownothing, Lots to consider for these picks. They start at 197 and I might pull the trigger for Josh Barr. People throwing out the idea Ferrari goes 184. Doubt it, but have to wait. One thing I am confident about is Davis will once again notoriously walk in to a takedown at some point during the Ayala match. Have a mental breakdown and lose close2 points

Screw it, let's have some fun. There are always some BS calls that happen in this dual every year. 125: Cruz dec Lillendahl 3-0 Iowa to make Big Ten announcers go "wow, what a start from Cruz!" 133: Ayala dec Davis 6-0 Iowa and Davis pouts about it. Who knows what that whole "injury" thing against Ohio State was. 141: Bartlett dec Block, 6-3 Iowa. The most mild mannered match of the night. 149: SVN dec Parco 6-6 Tied. Part of me wanted to play devil's advocate and give it to Parco, but I just think SVN is too good, and Parco ain't no Ridge Lovett on top. 157: Teemer dec Kasak 9-6 Iowa. This is the one I think will piss off a lot of people in attendance, but it has to happen somewhere. I don't have Jacori winning it in March. Hell, I don't even think he wins this match at B1Gs. But there will be some last second TD in his favor here. 165: Mesenbrink dec Caliendo 9-9 Tied. Not much to say here. 174: Haines dec Kennedy 12-9 PSU. Again, not much to say here. Two back-to-back hammers for Penn State. 184: Starocci m. dec Arnold 15-9 PSU. I am also taking this chance to predict that Carter will make the most spiteful of posts after this victory, which will proceed to make half the wrestling community dedicate a week of their posting energy to call him a douche. 197: Buchanan dec Barr 15-12 PSU and the Cael tax is paid. 285: Kerkvliet dec Kueter 18-12 PSU. I would've had Kerk by at least a major decision here until I saw him wrestle Slavakouski on Friday night. Perhaps he had disinterest in going too hard for a dual against Rutgers, but I just can't say he looked like the Kerk we see in March. Final Score 18 - 12, PSU. It should be a fun one here.1 point

It was the year of our lord 2021 and no 197 had separated from the pack to lead the tribe to the promised land. The false prophet known as Buchanan was the favorite going into the season against the babe swaddled in orange and black freshman cloth. But lo he was defeated many times for the babe fired on all pistols and brought forth a six hunnid sixty five pound deadlift baby. And now the prophecy is doomed to repeat itself for 197 is the forbidden wasteland of unrecognized heavyweight talent.1 point

Hello haters. Two championship football games and a major tennis final today but the best part of the sports day was watching Gable Steveson wrestle for 111 seconds and sign autographs and patiently pose for selfies for at least a couple of thousand seconds with hundreds of kids. How anyone can think that him coming back is anything but amazing and a blessing for wrestling is beyond me. I so hope he sticks with it for worlds. He lit up the arena with his presence.1 point

Let me update the correct data; Cleveland State is sending two wrestlers to the 2024 NCAA Championships, 197: Ben Smith - 285: Daniel Bucknavich. The Vikings wrapped up the 2022 MAC Championships on Saturday, with Marcus Robinson (149), Riley Smucker (165), and Ben Smith (197) qualifying for the NCAA Championships. The Cleveland State wrestling team wrapped up action at the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday, with Marcus Robinson (149), DeAndre Nassar (184) and Ben Smith (197) all qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.1 point

Absolutely. Van Ness just got majored. As far as I can tell these guys have only faced off once and it was two years ago. Since then, SVN had a major injury, and Parco transferred to a better program. I'd put a sig or avatar bet on it.1 point

125 Lilledahl maj Cruz - Lil Luke comes off a loss with guns blazing in front of a home crowd. 4-0 PSU 133 Ayala maj Davis - Home cookin' won't save Davis, gets sloppy and Ayala turns him for backs. 4-4 141 Bartlett dec Rhodes - Rhodes will be way overmatched, but I think Bartlett will lowkey wrestle an even-keeled controlled match. 7-4 149 SVN dec Parco - Parco wrestles tight and doesn't take a shot, SVN wins the scrambles. 10-4 157 Teemer dec Kasak - Teemer's physicality will be a problem for Kasak and the refs will force action from Jacori since this won't be at CHA. Gas tank will be tested. 10-7 165 Mesenbrink maj Caliendo - I'd like to see Caliendo narrow the gap, but how do you even pull together a match strategy against Mes? MM wins on pace and blows it open in the third period. 14-7 174 Haines dec Kennedy - Rooting for PK, but Haines' style will give him problems. 17-7 184 Starocci dec Arnold - Gabe's explosiveness will be a non-factor and I expect more of an old school Kemerer-Starocci style grinder. 20-7 197 - Barr dec Buchanan - Barr wins this one by a takedown at BJC but Buchanan wins at Big Tens. 23-7 286 - Kerk dec Keuter - Expecting a snoozer, not that it will matter at this point. 26-7 PSU final TB: 1841 point
