New old wrestling program Cal Poly Humboldt State hired Lenny Zalesky as their head coach in March. Last week Lenny hired his brother Jim as his assistant. Zalesky recently resigned as head coach at Jamestown. The team has yet to release a roster, but I am guessing there will be some recognizable names on the list. https://humboldtathletics.com/news/2024/8/8/mens-wrestling-cal-poly-humboldt-announces-jim-zalesky-as-new-assistant-wrestling-coach.aspx3 points

https://abcnews.go.com/US/dhs-watchdog-warns-urgent-issue-after-immigration-officials/story?id=112964072 DHS watchdog warns of 'urgent issue' after immigration officials allegedly lose track of unaccompanied children The cases in question spanned both the Trump and Biden administrations. ByMike Levine, Lucien Bruggeman, and Laura Romero August 20, 2024, 6:12 AM The Department of Homeland Security's internal watchdog says it has uncovered an "urgent issue" with how immigration officials handle cases involving unaccompanied migrant children, warning in a new report that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has been unable to keep track of all unaccompanied minors released from government custody. The interim report, sent to Congress on Tuesday and obtained by ABC News, said that -- in the past five years -- more than 32,000 unaccompanied migrant children failed to appear for their immigration court hearings, and ICE was "not able to account" for all of their locations. By law, the Department of Health and Human Services is responsible for the care of unaccompanied migrant children, so after they are initially taken into custody by U.S. authorities, it is ICE's role "to ensure [their] timely and safe transfer" to HHS, which then often places them in shelters or qualified sponsors' homes. "Without an ability to monitor the location and status of [unaccompanied migrant children], ICE has no assurance [they] are safe from trafficking, exploitation, or forced labor," Inspector General Joseph Cuffari wrote in his interim report. He urged ICE to "take immediate action to ensure the safety of [unaccompanied children] residing in the United States." Our government at work ruining the lives of kids. https://news4sanantonio.com/news/local/two-undocumented-immigrants-arrested-for-trafficking-teen-at-local-motel-venezula-child-sex Two undocumented immigrants arrested for trafficking teen at local motel SAN ANTONIO - Two undocumented immigrants accused of trafficking a 16-year-old Venezuelan migrant have been arrested at a motel near the medical center. According to federal court documents, the San Antonio police conducted an undercover operation at a motel near the medical center earlier this week, responding to an internet ad for sex at the motel. Authorities say an officer posing as a customer interviewed the victim who told them the two men were selling her for sexual activities. This is unacceptable. U N A C C E P T A B L E !!!!!!! The theme of the DNC is pure gaslighting. It follows the OP exactly. The speakers consistently ignore the truth, the factchecks, and their own culpability. If it could be published it would have to be in comic book format.2 points

Except borrowing money is not considered income. Because you have to pay it back. But more to the point, if borrowed money was taxed, that would shut down business expansion, business creation, and business investment. I don't think that is what this country needs. What this country needs is to stop spending so much. The more you have the more you spend. There is zero fiscal responsibility in DC and we are 30Trillion in the hole because of it. If we maintained a balanced budget, we would still have that debt but it would be manageable. Growing it all the time is not manageable at some point. mspart2 points

So was she the border czar or wasn't she? And the border is fixed? Funny - just in time for a national election. If Kamala gets elected, expect the border to become porous as it was before the Ds decided it was a losing strategy. mspart2 points

I got a kick out of a meme I saw yesterday that said, at the DNC, Harris/Walz and the D's are claiming they are going to fix everything come November when Harris/Walz are voted in, yet the D's have had the presidency 12 of the last 16 years...lol2 points

Believe Newsom said at convention we'll see the policy develop over next few months. Isn't election early Nov which comes after Sept-Oct? So after we vote for it we get to see it. Kamala previous said she'd do press Q&A in Aug. Does that mean she'll go on The View next week to discuss her favorite ice cream flavor? Maybe Joe will be there to guide her thru the Qs? BTW: is The View infringing on The Ohio State University trademark/copyright? Asking for my good buddy @MPhillips2 points

Here's a partial transcript of the video: https://www.foxnews.com/media/commerce-sec-doesnt-believe-news-grim-job-revisions-because-trump-said-it-im-not-familiar-that Social media users trashed President Biden's Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo for admitting to ABC News on Wednesday that she wasn’t "familiar" with the day's major revision to the jobs numbers. ABC News correspondent Kayna Whitworth asked Raimondo what she thought of the jobs numbers revision by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. "I am curious as to your thoughts on today the Bureau of Labor saying that more than 800,000 fewer jobs were actually created than initially reported," Whitworth said. The reporter played a clip of former President Trump talking about the report at his rally in North Carolina on Wednesday. "The administration padded the numbers with an extra — listen to this one — 818,000 jobs that don’t exist. So they said they existed and they never did exist. They built ‘em up so they could say what a wonderful job they’re doing," Trump said. Raimondo appeared to dismiss the news as Trump spreading misinformation and when asked if the revision could be a liability for Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris, she said no. "No. When I hear that, first of all, I don’t believe it because I’ve never heard Donald Trump say anything truthful," Raimondo said. "It is from the Bureau of Labor," Whitworth responded. "I'm not familiar with that," Raimondo said, despite the report having been released several hours earlier. Bolds, underlines and larger font are my edits. You really can't make this stuff up!! What an stoopid idiot!! Dumb, dumber, dumbest. And she gets to keep her job, the horror!! mspart1 point

And the Commerce secretary had no idea when interviewed. The interviewer said that Trump was talking about how horrible it is that they propped themselves up for so long so they could say what a great economy. Commerce secretary said she wouldn't trust anything that came out of his mouth it is all lies. The interviewer then said, Trump was quoting data from the Commerce department. The Commerce Sec said she was not aware of those numbers. What an idiot!!! This is what we have running this country. Watch the video, it is deeply disturbing how stoopid this person is. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/bidens-commerce-secretary-mocked-after-telling-abc-she-s-not-familiar-with-major-job-number-revision/vi-AA1pdddm mspart1 point

My proudest moment came when I was visiting my wife's cousin who I had been helping due to an accident he suffered. His 20 year old daughter, who is very blunt, came up to me and said, "I want you to make me rich." I told her I had no get rich quick schemes, but I knew how to make her rich slowly. But first she would need to read several emails I was going to write. I wrote the emails and figured that would be the end of it. A few months later she called me to say she had read the emails, and opened an account at Vanguard that she funded with $500, was she done? With a tear in my eye I told her almost. She now regularly makes deposits to her account and invests it wisely. She isn't close to being a millionaire yet, but she will be.1 point

I believe in soccer the requirement was residency for 2 years and then it was extended to 5 years. I don't think 5 years is needed at this point, but I would agree this is getting out of hand. at 74kg alone had Russia been permitted to compete you would have had Salkazonov,Kadi,Zhamolov,Rassadin,Valiev,Sidakov,Tsabolov There is a world where Russia occupies every spot on the podium. I understand the frustration that some of these guys probably have not being able to compete in the biggest tournaments but I think it should come at some sort of cost for them to do so rather than giving a 23 and me report.1 point

Except that she proclaimed for all to hear that her own parents would be suspicious of her because of her wealth. Just what was her point in saying that? I don't think anyone begrudges her wealth, but to be that wealthy and tell everyone that this is wrong is hypocritical at the highest level. I mean that is gold medal worthy. mspart1 point

And who pray tell, decides who is racist and who is not? And when is this determination made? Is it a nurse that decides, or a committee? We were very close to this with covid for sure. There were states that would not allow you to work if you didn't get the jab. In the case of WA, we are still feeling those effects in the ferry system which has an issue with too few employees to keep the schedule and too few boats (16 of 26 are operational). All this due to covid. There are a lot of folks that depend on the ferry to get to work on either side of puget sound that are now greatly inconvenienced by late boats or cancelled routes. Snow plow workers were also eliminated because they wouldn't take the jab. I think they fixed that up but the first winter around here, the passes were closed a lot more than usual due to the shortage of acceptable workers. mspart1 point

There should be a badge that represents peddlers of misinformation. After being caught in five Pinocchios, you get permabadged. Better, every politician can start with the 'liars' badge and a few might earn a truthful badge over time.1 point
