  1. A critical thinker can go to any major news site and immediately find false information plus bias across multiple articles. My kids didn't believe me but they can also do it. Fox News is the most obvious but ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, etc. all have problems. Who benefits? What language and framing is used? What stories are reported and important, not reported? What information in the story is omitted? How much opinion, anonymous source, and speculation is included? Are you reading someone's slanted interpretation or evidence-based facts and drawing your own conclusion? What is the background and history behind a story that can provide a deeper understanding and prevent misinterpretation? To think critically: Ask Questions: Who, what, why, when, and how? Evaluate Sources: Check credibility and biases. Analyze Evidence: Is it relevant, sufficient, and strong? Consider Perspectives: Explore and be open to different viewpoints. Use Logic: Ensure arguments are consistent and avoid fallacies. Reflect: Consider implications and stay open-minded. ----------- Feel free to added tips on thinking critically. Feel free to point out and discuss problems in specific news articles.

  4. Dake was somewhat old to be winning a title this year. Since the breakup of the Soviet Union (1993-current) only 12 World/Olympic titles have been won in men's freestyle after the winners 33rd birthday. Of those 12, one was stripped for doping violations and three were at non-olympic weights. Next Olympics Retherford will be 33, Dake will be 37, and Snyder will be a few month short of his 33rd birthday. Hard to bet that any of them will be closer to winning gold in 2028.

  5. Yes I served in active duty USMC. Maybe because of that, maybe because my father truly was a retired Marine Sgt Major (WWII and Korea vet), maybe because of the opinions circulating such as those of Walz's C.O. (link), I do question Walz's misrepresentation of the truth. I feel confident that if there is hypocrisy arising from the events that transpired, it's not coming from soldiers of Walz's unit. https://x.com/charliekirk11/status/1822728074582184196

  6. PBS Article Review: Source: An article highlighted by @RockLobster as one of the reputable sources debunking the claim that Tim Walz retired after learning of his deployment. The article, titled “Fact-checking attacks on Walz’s military record by Vance and other Republicans,” originally appeared on PolitiFact. Issue: The fact-check labels the claim as “mostly false,” but a closer examination of the evidence suggests it is “mostly true.” Key Points: Awareness of Deployment: The press release indicates that Walz was aware of the potential for deployment. Communication with Unit: Walz informed his unit that deployment was highly likely. Commitment to Duty: The press release also emphasizes Walz’s commitment to his unit, even if deployed to Iraq. Retirement Circumstances: Walz circumvented his superior to secure retirement before completing his intended service. Concerns About Perception: Walz questioned a unit member, asking if soldiers would view him negatively for not deploying, potentially seeing it as an attempt to avoid deployment. Unit’s Reaction: Multiple members of Walz’s unit criticized his character and actions.

  7. So you are wrong on all counts in your original post. And you still can't just leave it at Trump was almost assassinated...sick! And calling Vance a joke for the job he did while serving our country in a war zone...is well...a true representation of the type of person you probably are....pathetic

  13. Most humans. Men or women. Don’t laugh uncontrollably while fumbling through awkward ideas. Every single time she speaks in public. This isn’t a sexist female thing it’s more so a poor public speaker thing. Bla the electric bus “ ha ha ha cackle cackle “ while trying to hold the electric gas pump charging an electric car. Or the crazy coconut tree lol. Cackle. Unburdened by what has been. Cackle.

  14. Definitely we want more weights. The issue that a lot of people don’t realize is that it has nothing to do with the number of medals. It’s all about the number of participants. So to get more weights you’d have to make the brackets smaller than 16 (which no countries outside of the top 3 or 4 would vote for), or cut Greco which might sound like a good idea to US but not the rest of the world. So we are pretty much stuck

  15. Your speech is an example of media spin. RV the Journalist: "Anybody that says anything bad about Trump has an anti-GOP agenda." Problem: over generalization, bias, lack of nuance, misleading... RV just made this shit up.

  16. did you go around lying about your service record to gullible voters in order to get elected? you'd think someone who actually served wouldn't be down with obvious stolen valor. amazing mental gymnastics you've got there.

  17. There is no question our leg attacks were nowhere to be found when they really mattered, which is baffling. Leg attacks are almost always the difference maker for US wrestlers, we typically navigate and manage opponents’ entire bodies less well, and just make up for it by picking a limb and blasting through it or ripping it off. Not this year.

  20. Yes, even Reuters with their policy of taking a "value-neutral approach"... 8/13: "Rambling Trump, Musk interview marred by tech issues" Problem: bias and subjectivity in article title word choice, and the title misleads on the article content Problem: article has bias in the coverage of Harris, selective framing, lack of nuance... Reuters normally does a good job... but not always. Same with the AP.

  22. You have shown over and over you do not know how to have a normal conversation/debate. You address NONE of what I said and go instantly into trying to turn what I said into something nefarious and anti-trans. Me saying I am 100% okay with someone's choice to think they are a sex other than their biological sex but not okay with a biological man using the same bathroom at the same time as a biological female (especially a minor) equals I am trans-phobe (which I am not) religious (which I am not), that I don't like gay people (which is NOT true), black people (again absolutely false), people with AIDS (I personally have never known anyone who has had it), etc.?? You are out of your mind! Again...using your logic that it shouldn't be a big deal who uses what bathroom, then why does it matter if an extremely small percentage of the population has to use the bathroom based on their biological sex? How is this hurting them? How is this proof that society is harming them in some way, or oppressing them, or any other victimization term you like use??

  24. Even when the articles report "just the facts"... the article title, article choice, and fact selection is problematic. 8/13: Fox News: Front page article title: "Harris responds after Trump unleashes a scathing attack, branding her a 'radical-left lunatic'" Problem: Emotionally loaded language, sensational, lack context Neutral Title: "Harris responds to Trump's criticism." 8/13: CNN: Front page article title: "A CNN investigation shows that a startup connected to JD Vance failed as a business and provided a ‘nightmare’ work environment for employees" Problem: implied bias - a very negative portrayal right from the start, loaded language, lack of specificity Neutral Title: “CNN Investigation: JD Vance-Backed AppHarvest Startup Company Faces Business Challenges and Employee Complaints”

  25. By stalling I mean not improving one's position. Not working for hand control. Not trying to get back to neutral. I understand that preventing points on bottom takes effort but my concept of stalling on bottom is more aligned with the folk style concept where actively trying to improve your position/situation is required. It is not sufficient to merely try to stifle the other wrestler's efforts

  36. The average age of an Olympic medalist in freestyle is 26. Biologically speaking, physical prime begins to decline at 27. Wrestlers may try to continue to complete longer for certain monetary reasons, but that doesn't change the age of natural biological decline. USA wrestlers are starting to wrestle freestyle full-time WAY too late. Getting started full-time at 24 (like many in the usa do), is always going to yield inconsistent results in the long term. For that reason, I think men's college wrestling should open up to freestyle. Keep folkstyle for those schools which have the fans, have a chance of getting a wrestler on the podium regularly, and have a historical vested interest in it. The other colleges, basically the majority of the 76 div 1 schools, should transition to freestyle.

  42. Ok...so John Kelly is lying? The man literally came out and confirmed that among other things. We heard the man say John McCain isn't a hero with the 'I like people who weren't captured.' https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-called-military-veterans-suckers-154132839.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall As for the "type," of person you're talking about...again, just a bunch of noise. Spent 24 years serving, retired a couple months before he even knew he was going to Iraq, they weren't deployed to Iraq for another...what year? He DID attain the rank, that's BS, he didn't continue with the qualifications AFTER getting promoted and he retired at a lower one. But it's amazing he's the type of person to think that DESPITE a decorated General having SAID Trump said that(as well as his former Chief of staff). Not to mention...Walz ACTUALLY served. Trump said he had bone spurs and asked "what's in it for them," to those who did. But suuuuure...Walz is the "type," to say what Trump actually did. Again, just like Kerry and the Swift Boat nonsense.
