I still think Metcalf VS Schlatter Round 1, which was at the Medina tournament in Ohio is the best High School wrestling match this side of Y2K... maybe on either side of Y2K. Being a Michigander and having my kids get their asses handed to them repeatedly by that era of Roy Hall's boys (and Metcalf was by far his best product ever), I went in very naive. The buildup for that finals match was intense. Everyone knew it was going to happen and every round it got closer, everyone started whispering a little more loudly about it. Finally it was going to happen and I couldn't believe my ears - Everbody (okay not EVERYbody... but most everybody that I talked to about it) wanted the match. They were all saying that Metcalf couldn't handle his pace or his power and it completely blew me away because Metcalf hadn't wrestled anybody in nearly a decade who couldn't handle his pace and Schlatter was actually coming up to 145lbs,whereas Metcalf had been there a couple of years now and had always been the larger wrestler. I came away awe-stricken at this match. I then remember when Senior Nationals came along and they were both entered and the same sort of energy was in the air. Everyone knew it was going to happen again. Metcalf was still considered the underdog because many considered that Metcalf was gifted that first match. https://www.flowrestling.org/video/5155124-145lbs-brent-metcalf-vs-dustin-schlatter-05-sr-natls4 points

They ended up being the USA team reps at 145 and 152 at the Dapper Dan that year, pretty cool: 145: Brent Metcalf (USA) dec Matt Dragon (PA), 8-7 152: Dustin Schlatter (USA) dec Joey Ecklof (PA) 5-2 and fun fact, Dustin's older brother CP wrestled another Ecklof at same even a few years prior: 145: C.P. Schlatter (USA) dec Jeff Ecklof (PA), 1-03 points

The Special Counsel appointment hasn’t been brought before the Supreme Court so the arguments for and against it haven’t been decided. When district and appeals courts have different opinions on laws they usually get decided at the Supreme Court. Judge Cannon decided that two problems were at issue with Smith’s appointment. First, he had never been confirmed as a Principal Officer, as all the other Special Counsels had, and second; Congress had not appropriated the money to pay for his office. Judge Cannon has significant support for her decision, from law professors, to two former U.S. Attorneys General, to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Thomas wrote in the Immunities decision that before the court worried that the President had immunity, it needed to verify Smith’s authority. She did, and now it’s up to Smith to prove he’s authorized to bring the case. To better understand this case you may want to familiarize yourself with the Constitution and the definition of Principal and Inferior Officers. And the Appropriations Clause.3 points

Reports that police knew of the shooters suspicious activity 60 minutes prior to first shots. Is it possible the social worker got caught in traffic? Remember its a small rural town. Why didn't the SS counter sniper team shoot him in the knees as directed by the President? If had we'd know the motive. Its always the cover up.2 points

Where are you getting this info from? From what I've read so far is the FBI hasn't found any evidence to this point that reveals his political ideology. Facts that I have found and are corroborated 1) He was a registered Republican 2) He made a small donation to Progressive Turnout Project, a liberal group 3) He voted once in the 2022 midterms 4) They have yet to find any social media posts that reveal his ideology 5) No one who knew him intimately has come forward revealing any political ideologies he might have had. There is a classmate "claiming" Crooks mocked him for being a Trump supporter in 2016. Emphasis on "claiming" 6) The NYTimes reported that Crooks had searched for images of both Trump and Biden. He also searched for dates of Trump Appearances and the DNC Convention. This report is based on a 2nd hand account of a "person" on a conference call with lawmakers. Supposedly he also searched "major depressive disorder" 7) His father is registered as a Libertarian and his mother is registered as a Democrat2 points

So yesterday @Paul158 had asked me a question about comparing marijuana laws to abortion laws and @PortaJohn had asked me to address it. I just typed out a whole long reply, but then the thread seems to have been deleted while I was typing, so that sucks. I'll give you the gist of my answer here: The change in marijuana laws reflects the will of the people in individual states which has prompted a federal reconsideration. It's still federally illegal, but essentially the feds have kind of let states do their thing while they investigate, look into rescheduling, etc. It's a topic that was voted on by many different states. It's an ongoing discussion and while it's being figured out, people in States where it is legal aren't being prosecuted as long as they abide by their individual states. The change in abortion access is related to an opinion written by 6 people after 50 years of it existing, which has led to immediate loss of access to the abortion services in many areas, despite when it has been voted on, it has been approved of by individual states, many of them red like Kansas and Ohio. The women in many states lost access to these services based on the opinion of 6 people, not the will of the people in their states prompting a reconsideration at federal level. They're completely different scenarios.2 points

Bishop Mccort put 7 in the quarters without 4 nationally ranked wrestlers Bassett,Magro,Slezdionowski,Rodriguez. This teams absolutely insane.2 points

I remember the hype around this match being insane however there were a lot of factors going on. This was Chances first tournament of the year and he was up a weight. Wiercoch was a 2x state champ and 3x finalist coming into it and it was in his home gym at cannon mac. The match certainly lived up to the hype.2 points

Biden doesn't fire people. There will be no firings for this fiasco of a protection detail. You have an outdoor event. You scan the area for elevated places where someone could shoot from and you nail those down so no one gets there. The shooter was on a rooftop in plain sight of the stage. No one will get fired for this lack of security. mspart2 points

Sounds like I hit most of them... Wrestled with Al on an Ohio Team that went out west, he is a couple years younger. We wrestled all the same tourneys growing up. He was a stud as a little dude too...2 points

I went to Eds, here's my perspective. Alan Fried was as hyped as anyone coming out of high school, definitely moreso than the Brands as he owned them up until that point. Gable and the Brands turned that around in college. Dustin Schlatter and Metcalf were more hyped than Lance Palmer imo, although Lance was a grade below. Metcalf / Schlatter was a crazy rivalry. Sucks Schlatter got injured. Lance and Collin had a little extra intimidation factor as both of them had absolutely shredded physiques at all times. Collin Palmer was hyped to be even better than Lance. I think he could've been better in college as well. He injured his back pretty bad going into what I think was senior years or so, even before the Taylor match, and kept getting worse. Caused him to retire his freshman year at OSU unfortunately. Could've been great. Logan / David Taylor were always incredibly hyped. I think Taylor was the most hyped kid I've seen, he was the wonder child and was one of the few to never lose any hype over the years. And Steve Mocco was hyped to be the best heavyweight of all time. Dude was an absolute freak in high school wrestling for Blair.2 points

I'm not arguing respecting a woman's decision about her body. I am absolutely respecting a woman's decision about her body, and what potentially comes along with those decisions. I am also stating that your insistence that once a woman becomes pregnant, and decides she does not want the baby, she is no longer at all responsible for that fetus, all responsibility is immediately shifted to the hospital, and the person who made the decision that created the situation in the first place is free, regardless if by accident or not. If I make a decision to drink, and then get in a car, and because of that do damage to another living being, and the hospital is not able to save that living being, I do not relinquish my responsibility in the situation, nor does the responsibility shift to the hospital, just because it was an accident and I didn't want the accident. When you can actually live and respond in the real world, we can continue this conversation. Until then, don't bother wasting your time.2 points

I do make mistakes, a lot. And when I do, I am in fact responsible for the results stemming from those mistakes. That, my friend, is the real world we live in. Have a great day.2 points

No one is forcing the women to have a fetus inside of their body. The women made a choice (with the exception of rapes), and by virtue of that choice a fetus was conceived in their body. The fetus is their because of their choice, not because the fetus was forced in there. Again, terrible take.2 points

Here's some Dapper Dan Trivia. -The year 1992 is probably the most famous because of the Bono/Kolat match. LOL...you never answered the question...saying you did won't make it true. I said I don't like her and gave my reason why...pretty simple concept. You said she would be a great president...so I asked to name one thing she has done that you like...pretty simple question. Then you don't answer it and turn it into some weird mental gymnastics thing that this is about the role of the VP and me not understanding that. Were we discussing the responsibilities of the VP and doing a dissertation on it...NO! I simply asked to name one thing...anything...pick the category of her duties and what she would do in her role as VP...and you can't. Then somehow turn it into trying to point the finger that I don't do my research, about some made up conclusion you think I came to other than you didn't answer the question, and then called me a "dunker" versus a "thinker" (whatever the heck that means). I will say your ability to take someone asking you to name one thing that you liked that the VP has done into all those things and ultimately calling me toxic is whackadoodle stuff...so yes...your post deserves an LOL!!1 point
