Here's the list. PA has had 90 wrestlers win 125 individual NCAA Division I titles. Within the list of 90 PA NCAA titlists, 33 guys compiled 40 NCAA Division I titles - but never won a PIAA HS championship. Some on the list were National Prep champs. The National Prep list includes Prep titles by Ed Ruth (who transferred to Blair Academy for his SR year), but it does not include Pat Santoro (who won a National Prep title during a post-grad year at Blair prior to enrolling at Pitt).5 points

It's going to be alot harder to steal the election this year, Trump is up in all but 1 of the swing states. Lara Trump is dogged about making sure that there are poll workers covering all of the major polling stations. They are not leaving it to chance like before. There will still be fraud, but there are alot more eyes on the election this year. My step daughter went to vote in Philly in 2012 and they literally had a fathead mural of Obama behind the machines and the worker said there is a republican in the house. This is after she passed 2 armed thugs to get in. Checks and balances are being put in place so that kind of fraud will be harder to get away with.2 points

I am sure Jordan could have been a great football player or world class high jumper. Jordan was a better athlete than Deion Sanders. I'd say Bo was more versatile since he was elite at two different sports, but was never as good at a single sport as Jordan was at basketball. Yeah Chamberlain is great too.1 point

I assume the argument would start with pointing out that he had unbelievable support from his teammates and coaches. Sort of the opposite of how Walter Johnson would be regarded if he hadn't played for the senators. in jordans defence, his importance isn't inflated heavily by what I referred to as cultural significance. By comparison Muhammad Ali was a great athlete whose remains an icon based on his time and place in history.1 point

your opinion implies a lot of important questions about what "greatest athlete" means, as well as how much their cultural significance impacted this should matter, as well as how we should weigh cultural significance today vs when they were active.1 point

You should have seen Wilt Chamberlain. Track & field to basketball to Hank Stram trying to sign him to play football for the Kansas City Chiefs. He tested well and Stram wanted to sign him but Wilt decided not to do it. He was an amazing athlete. ------------------ ""Greatest athlete" you gotta be good in at least 2 sports like Bo Jackson or Deion Sanders but I'd bet there might be a 3 sport example even better." Try Otto Graham. Won a title as a Player for the Rochester Royals in Basketball before becoming a Pro Football Quarterback. In Football his team played in the Title Game for Ten straight seasons.1 point

Jordan is one of the greatest athletes of all time regardless of sport. I would say it's surprising that he did not transition better to baseball than Tim Tebow did.1 point

I contracted with Japan Gas years ago and worked every day for about 10 months on a project with 2 Japanese guys and we would talk about Sumo, I used to follow it alot even prior to working with these guys back in the 90's when Akebono (Chad Rowen) and Musashimaru both American born Yokozuna both over 500lbs and Ozeki Kaio, these guys were all huge beasts, Then the little guys under 350lb started taking over the sport Takanahana and Asashoryo were all finess, then came the GOAT Hakuho, He was the Yokozuna when I worked with JGC. The guy was unreal, cat quick and considered the best ever. I quit watching for quite a while and never really watched Harumafuji or any of the current Basho. The fellas I worked with said that best Sumo guys were treated like rock stars and are set for life and even the lesser known guys were very well compensated.1 point

Honestly I had assumed he would cross-post to Twatter and he did not. I didn't verify on Instergram. I am old. I don't Instergram. Also, it is odd that nobody has posted the actual gofundme here yet.1 point

John Smith and Dan Gable going in the room with their wrestlers. You can include Mark Schultz in the conversation. They are killers. David Taylor is very good, but not a killer. There is a difference. You could see it on the mat with these guys and their attitude.1 point

This general sports transferability theory is nonsense. It only holds some truth in sports to the extent that the sport overlaps in the types of movements and actions performed. The only positions that correlate to a notable degree with wrestling are linemen (for heavyweights). Gable is short for a lineman, that's the only position he would be going for. Coon failed at it, why exactly would Gable be better? Just because he's a better wrestler? Karelin was unexceptional at multiple sports that he tried as a kid (and this is among just among normal local peers who were never on a pro track ) and I think he turned out to be pretty good at one sport in particular.1 point

Not sure who you are talking about, but maybe they think that if Yazdani wins, then Brooks will realize that Mohammed is the one true prophet after all, and finally convert to Islam.1 point

How can a water main break in Atlanta, unplanned and unneeded building evacuation in Detroit, flash drive losses in Milwaukee, and other random events that all occurred within minutes of each other on a particular night and helped one specific person be considered to be caused by a very interested party that has its sole goal as helping that one specific person? RIdiculous (and criminal) to question these random and totally unrelated topics. Nothing to see here. Move along, America, and sin no more via your silly noticing of things that don't make sense and are impossible to have happened randomly.1 point

He has recently been revealed to be somewhat immature, quite egotistical, a conspiracy theorist, and likens himself to Jesus? Other than that not much...1 point

The really smart coaches wait until the 2nd half of practice when the studs are a little tired to jump in. Helps keep the legacy going.1 point

I guess at this point in his maturity trajectory, I wouldn't have associated "Gable Steveson" with "shaping young lives." But who knows?1 point
