  3. Messenbrink was acting all Desanto in that match. Several times he was a little extra. Shove was not unwarranted.

  6. They wholeheartedly think Paterno was a victim and a damn good man. That is all you need to know about penn state fans.

  7. This board seems to be in the process of getting overrun by bitter and classless people that like to troll and otherwise complain and belittle. Less and less actual substance. More and more attempts to insult or think they are insultingly ‘funny’ … I expect driven by some deep down insecurity.

  11. I agree that walking a guy out is not as exciting as a takedown. But the way a step out shapes a match makes the match better. Athletes can’t flee the mat as easily, and they get rewarded for taking the risk and effort to attack a leg. Much better than two guys sitting at edge, refusing to engage.

  13. Sorry but it looked like MM was trying to bully JB and get into his head, and then drove low into JB's legs when they were already out of bounds (which can result in an injury). If that's the case then JB was 100% right to show MM what he thought of that.

  23. Elor is a beast. She could surpass all the US women (Maroulis, Gray) in accolades when she retires. Not sure who the Japanese rep is at that weight or how good she is, however

  24. NBC just threw this together and put it on an out the way streaming service that streams all types of content all the time, including other sports. Plus it’s only six bucks. Meanwhile Flowrestling focuses on wrestling and you have to subscribe for a year.

  29. My thought too, couldn’t blame Burroughs for losing his temper a bit. The head clubs from Mesenbrink combined with the after whistle activity pissed JB off.

  31. just got back session 2 reactions we have three guys that would be world medalists at 86kg I was rooting for Zahid and think the singlet grab was inconsequential on the match and was a crazy call, however I think had their not been two challenges Zahid would not have gotten to that point given his gas tank. Jess Mendez gets better every time I see him I think had that been a zain off the scale he would have won. I know thats purely speculative and probably a dumb claim but just my thoughts. Nick Lee does not get enough credit for how he freestyles. What I mean by that is his ability to get out of exchanges that should be 2 for the other guy with 2 and 2 as well as his par tear offense. Isaac Trumble is a bad man (I would like credit for the thread I made in January) Ive never been more disappointed with wrestling fans than I was with how they treated Burroughs. I think Nolf wrestled a brilliant match tactically but I don't know how he was not cautioned and or put on the clock but my god that double was nasty. the head push was completely out of bounce but the refs needed to step in sooner because MM was being a prick. Hayden zillmers back makes me insecure. Gillman and lee both looked outstanding I think Gillman takes it if it goes 3 but I think the scale may do him in. Despite our "golden era" of guys winding down I feel like we have never had the depth we do currently and we will be just find moving forward and potentially even better,

  32. JB is more than the guy who won more golds for the US than anyone else. People forget now, but when JB first won a gold medal in 2011, the US struggled to win golds. In the ten years before he won his first gold -- from 2001 to 2010 -- the US won a total of 3 golds. Then JB came in and raised the bar for everyone.

  33. Burroughs is getting a good experience in being a perpetual runner up from here on out, so he's be a good fit for Iowa.

  34. Disagree. The step out encourages offense and tends to keep action in bounds.

  36. I’m gonna disagree with this. It’s not a standard of behavior that has historically been accepted in wrestling, and I have no interest in making it an accepted behavior in any way. ”It’s Ok to be a tone deaf d-bag” is not in any way what the sport is about.

  43. Which is more surprising: A) that Joe has an uncle named Boozie, B) that cannibals would really want to eat a Biden or a Finnegan, C) that Boozie flew a single engine plane but it had 2 when went down, D) that Joe's uncles signed up after D-day but the plane went down before, E) that cannibals don't live on New Guinea Islands they live in the sea, or F) all of the above?

  45. Nice write up. Just wanted to add something missing ***Wrestling fans come in with their college teams sweatshirts on, hatred and bias against opponents from particular schools, and forget that this is a glorified wrestle off and we are all on the same team.

  46. I think we can all agree that Zahid should have repped Mexico. He'd probably already be an Olympian, watching the OTTs from Arizona, sitting by a pool with a bowl of chips and guac. But instead he's in State College, in Appalachia, having all sorts of things happen to him at nearly 11 PM.

  49. I don't think anyone is complaining that the non Olympic weights get into the semis. It's the unbalanced bracket that disadvantages the 2 and 3 seeds when we should be trying to find our best rep. Then to make them have an extra match before wrestling the semi match while the 4 seed only has one match doesn't make sense. The world medalist should be the 1 seed with a bye to the semis and get the 4/5 winner in that semi. We can give a guy an advantage without creating a disadvantage for guys who have also earned the right to compete for the Olympic Spot.
