I believe this was covered in the woke dictionary thread: conspiracy theory = disagreement with leftist narrative Lab leak conspiracy theory, Hunter’s laptop conspiracy theory, Joe’s dementia conspiracy theory, etc. J6 hearings didn’t prove anything. No judge, no jury, no defense, no evidentiary oversight, no produced by news directors, basically no reasonable jurisprudence whatsoever… That would be like saying JK Rowling proved wizards exist by writing Harry Potter.3 points

If we are calling AR-15’s “weapons of war”, shouldn’t we go by the war expert’s (say, the US Army) definition of what an assault rifle is? An AR-15 is a sporting rifle. It is not the weapon of choice for mass shootings. Hi-Point C9 9mm’s are used in mass shootings 100:1 to AR-15’s.3 points

Age limits seem more important than anything at this point. Biden got lost leaving the podium multiple times in the past month, McConnell forgot he was at a press conference yesterday, Feinstein was told how to vote today… Why do we allow geriatrics make decisions that will affect the country for a greater number of years than the number of weeks they have to live?2 points

Good question Rasta...I personally don't really care how long it takes to receive it; however, I do understand that a "reasonable" timeframe should be expected. I also would want to know the reason for the wait and what information is being looked at before approval is made. If the wait was just to wait, then maybe a day or two should do it. I understand why some think this will help if someone with mental instabilities is all cranked up and wants to go shoot up a place may calm down if they can't get a weapon right away, but I would think that any person wanting to do ill will to others would take that piece into consideration, so it just isn't a clear and cut thing. Again, personally I wouldn't have a problem if I had to wait a week if I were to try and purchase an AR.2 points

call it what you will. the view/science/theory espoused by the left were wrong time and time again all the while chanting 'trust the science' like a bunch of sheeple. i'll never understand how the fight-the-power left of the 60's became 'i will absolutely take an experimental vaccine and if you don't too you're the devil'2 points

So have we officially beaten it to death that AR does not in fact stand for "Assault Rifle" but rather "Arma Lite"? Clearly AR-15's are semi auto, not having fully auto capabilities, and thus are not assault rifles (unless you watch CNN).2 points

Encyclopedia Brittanica a better source for a definition, or are you just one of those people who says, “Well, that’s not what it means to me, so you’re wrong.”? (Which is precisely what you’re doing.) You probably think “a well-regulated militia” means a militia for which the government has set “regulations”. (Which would nullify the purpose of the second amendment.) assault rifle Written and fact-checked byThe Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica Last Updated: Jul 20, 2023 assault rifle, military firearm that is chambered for ammunition of reduced size or propellant charge and that has the capacity to switch between semiautomatic and fully automatic fire. Because they are light and portable yet still able to deliver a high volume of fire with reasonable accuracy at modern combat ranges of 1,000–1,600 feet (300–500 metres), assault rifles have replaced the high-powered bolt-action and semiautomatic rifles of the World War II era as the standard infantry weapon of modern armies.2 points

This is ridiculous. You want to find the NCAA tournament? It's not at the top of the list, it is below "Maine Maulers Takedown Tournament" and "Jane and Stephano's Rocky Top Open (ages 5-12)" and "Taco John's Freestyle Tournament and Hot Dog Eating Contest" and seventy more. I saw something a couple years ago that looked like a better way. ILLINOIS was in a tournament two years ago, and I can't recall whether it was the MSU Open or the ILLINOIS Matmen Open (Willie and Izzy put this together to replace Midlands), but one of those tournaments used a different kind of software. I've only seen it that one time, and though it was extremely rudimentary, it was also extremely user friendly with a big bout board and quick links to matches. And don't forget this about Trackwrestling:2 points

If I could change HS/NCAA scoring, I would change the dual team scoring, and I believe, it would increase scoring in individual matches. Go back to 2 point takedowns though. Tech Falls are 10 points instead of 15. Now, here is how it works: If my guy wins, 10-3, my team gets 7 team points. If your guy techs or pins my guy, you get 10 team points. If I win 1-0, I get 1 team point. This makes every point worth fighting for. No more laying on bottom, I want to get an escape to save my team a point. The most I can score for my team is 10 points (whether pin, tech, dq, or forfeit). I am sure this would make it easier for non wrestling people understand it easier, and would increase scoring in duals. That said, I don't know how to score tournaments that would increase scoring. Any ideas?1 point

Precisely what I said to my wife when we saw it. Agreed but also feel like if they were banned from trading stock the term limits would be less important. We’d have a higher ratio of people there actually to serve rather than to get rich, or exponentially increase their wealth1 point

The answer is yes, but it depends on the judge (also I supposed it would depend on what you qualify as a lot). Also, given this is a federal case, plea deals are a little different than what most people think of; in state level court, where I work, the sentence is agreed upon, and while judges can interject, they typically won't. In federal court, where Hunter Biden's case is, they're really more of "joint sentencing recommendations" with prosecutors typically dropping charges (a practice sometimes referred to as charge-bargaining) to create a joint recommendation of a sentence and a sentencing range. The judge still has to choose to impose the recommended sentence, and they often interject themselves. As to this particular situation, I didn't watch the hearing myself obviously, but most of the reporting seems to indicate that when it was presented to the judge, the attorneys for both sides disagreed on aspects of it, which means there wasn't actually an agreement at all (for a plea agreement to be final, both parties have to agree to all aspects), and this was essentially delayed for now while the two sides try to reach a final, full agreement. In the end, it will still be up to the judge to accept the recommendation, though.1 point

For NCAA, since dual meets means very little. I say, yeah, let's do it. Add a little bit more excitement. Every point matters!1 point

??? What things that some on here, including YOU, called conspiracy theories turned out to, in fact, be conspiracy theories? How about this...all the things I listed previously (lock downs, face masks, canceling things for kids and their schools, etc.), which do you feel were wrong for being implemented? Do you admit you were wrong for arguing with people like me who said they were all wrong from the beginning, us who actually DID trust the science? {I know you won't ever do that}1 point

60 minutes did a piece on this a few years back. it's pretty insane what the current laws are (congress is LITERALLY immune from insider trading (at least at the time the piece aired). anyway, i feel like it's truly gaining momentum. imo, two of the most important changes would be trading stock and term limits.1 point

If you take the hundreds of mass shootings with handguns and compare them to the several with AR’s each year, there are far, far more deaths by the former. Yes, you’ll hear about the few mass shootings with AR’s each year, while you don’t hear a peep about the 3-4 each week using 9mm’s in Chicago alone. Pretty sure you were just saying heart issues in healthy young men aren’t any more prevalent, they’re just being reported on more. That reasoning works for you there, but not here?1 point
-
i agree. why haven't we gotten the nashville shooters manifesto yet...1 point
-
I understand...a little...your logic here, but what is missed is the VAST majority of gun owners who own AR style rifles (like 99.999999999999%) are not mentally ill and should have every right to own one whether people don't understand why they would.1 point

Like I said before, the Hi-Point C9 is the most common weapon used in mass shootings. Do we ban all 9mm handguns?1 point

I signed in with my ridiculously long password just to say this sounds awesome. I would totally watch a dual with this kind of scoring. I don't know if its THE answer, but it sure would make duals more exciting. No more "well this match is obviously going to be a decision, I guess I'll space out for 10 minutes". It would make watching duals that I don't care about more exciting, too.1 point

Hunter was the American version of Uday and Qusay. He took every opportunity available to take advantage of his father’s power, probably in reaction to his father having taken advantage of him to include him in his criminal activities. His father, being part of the country’s second largest attempted coup, and the subsequent president following its third coup, is now the worst criminal to ever hold the office. Neither will be neglected until there is some accountability.1 point

This is of course wildly overgeneralizing BS. Firstly, you have Willie and I in this thread, two people who you can plainly see have different political ideologies, and we've gotten along famously, including a couple of spirited craps runs. Then you have the OP in this thread who dropped this doozy: "Too many tranny loving, bathroom choosing pedo apologists that find him evil." This 'it's not us, it's the other guys' mentality is part of the big problem with any sort of discussion: it ignores reality. LOL. Again, you're just divorcing yourself from reality. He's wildly polarizing WITHIN HIS OWN PARTY. He's a polarizing figure. That's simply true. It's like the biggest part of his political schtick.1 point
