And that’s the same case for Michigan, regardless of what Catrabone did or Lemley, I would take Zepeda over both. 10/10

Not a Michigan fan, but I disagree on Catrabone. Lemley probably, but he's also way more accomplished than VV or Estrada.  Again, I think Zepeda goes to Michigan, but it's definitely more full in his weight range.

Very interesting. He has always started strong then fell apart. I could see him anywhere from 141-157 and at the right school he could be a point scorer at nationals

I just wish guys would not portal away from LR ... portal in only.  Great things going on there.  🤼‍♂️

I wonder if the volatility, his fault or not, given his brief stint in Iowa City and even briefer stint in Madison limited his options more than believed.  Either way, kid showed this year he belongs, although I'm interested to see how his height affects him in the big boy weight!

Now that the PAC has a legit conference with 9 and maybe 10 teams, I wonder if that will impact recruiting and the portal for those teams. With only 4 teams the last few years, those teams have done a good job of putting together good schedules with top teams and top tournaments.

Endene in the PAC would be great

I agree... some of those taller guys that can ride will be trouble.

Creating a price war, maybe?

Iowa will definitely outspend Michigan and maybe by a lot. But I think wrestling with his brother is a big draw.

The new most quoted man in wrestling media, Brian Swaw, claims Iowa is pushing for Nico Provo which, if true, is interesting and may comment on the health of Leo Deluca.

What’s to detract from? This is a fantastic pickup. Sure, he may need an extra year to get healthy, but Crookham is incredibly talented. He is the only guy in the country who can give the 4 killer freshman 133lbers a run for their money. I’ll be rooting hard for him to get healthy. Kudos to Iowa for getting this deal done.

My guess is all they had to agree to is to give him a free year of grad school even if he is still being. That’s the easiest deal on earth to make.

The significance of this deal is being wildly underreported. Crookham immediately becomes the most talented guy on Iowa’s roster. It’s a Buchanan level pickup, except he has 2 years of eligibility not one.

Except that he’s finished 1 of 4 college seasons and missed time in high school as well. He also didn’t look anywhere close to the level of those 4 freshman this year. The odds of him getting hurt and not finishing the season are much higher then the odds of winning an ncaa title

Agreed, run him out at 149 and I’d push for Catrabone over Lemley, I think. Not sure if Lemley sees another NCAA podium in his career, he looked solid but not amazing in the action he got, but I’m hypercritical as well. That and 157 would be another weight jump for him.

First Oklahoma State and now Michigan recruiting over Kellen Wolbert really puzzles me.  He would look great in the Minnesota lineup at 149.

Not at all suggesting to recruit over Wolbert, myself. I’ve mentioned before that I’m in the boat of iron sharpens iron and take who you can and let them figure it out in the room. Personally, I watch the recruiting and follow the high school careers a bit before they arrive on campus, so I love the homegrown kids (HS recruits, not kids from the state per se) doing well and holding it down, and then plugging the odd hole with a transfer or two. I like to see the team camaraderie and these kids enjoying time together for 2, 3, 4 (5…6…7…) years and getting better together, working in the room together, tournaments, injuries, heartbreak, triumph…that’s what I love about the sport, amongst other things, the individual and team components, every position is offense and defense, every point (usually) matters.

We need continued and more parity in the sport, and that’s why I like the transfer option.

Definitely got far afield from discussing Wolbert vs. Zepeda lol

What has crookham done to give you the impression he has any chance whatsoever at giving the 4 killer freshman a run for their money?

He beat Vito twice (and Vito went on to win Bronze that summer). I agree though, even if he had managed to stay healthy and continue to progress, I think he would still be behind this year's top 4

How quickly you went from "he's going to law school" to "he's not that good"

He beat Vito when Vito had a serious neck injury.  When healthy at the NCAAs, Vito destroyed him (with the famous "get back here" pointing to the center of the mat).

If he's going to law school, transfer to Penn State, make a good impression and Nick Lee's dad might make you a job offer. 🤷‍♂️

Healthy Vito was incredible…hands down has to be one of the fastest guys I’ve seen on the mat
