A potentially low cost-high value get, especially if he sticks around in an RTC

especially if he can be a bridge to future Japanese wrestlers in a way that could open up the type of pipeline that Iowa State has with Cuba

That's true. I wonder how complicated the transfer process is, though. The F-1 visa process is a lot more restrictive (supposedly) under the current administration. That plus the NCAA's transfer/eligibility rules might be a lot to deal with. Guys like Aday Mara and Henri Veesar have agents and deep-pocketed boosters to take care of all that stuff, but idk if Sakamoto or other non-revenue athletes have the same resources.

Maybe certain schools are more accustomed to going through this process for Japanese students.  my guess would be a mixture of: Large Schools, Good Schools, and West Coast Schools.  If its at all possible?  Stanford.

First McCrone and now Hansen…good day to be a Tarheel…

Yeah, not hating this, 125 was the biggest hole in the line up before transfers with Terukina graduating, and this fills in the hole left by Dailey transferring

I didn’t forget them but they shouldn’t be the answer. From all reports I’ve seen Mills is dealing with something…likely fatigue (weight cut/season) but he would benefit from a RS. Dom would be more college ready (I think at least) but again Davino took a RS and Dom is basically a carbon copy. It would benefit him as well.

Mills will be 41 after a RS is my guess.  He can't make 25 for a college season.

Correct…I’m not sure why people keep penciling him in at 125 🤷

You think Cam could contend at 165? My initial thought was to bump Shapiro if he came on, for a few reasons; he’s a known commodity and likely to perform similar to past seasons even up a weight class, and I don’t think Catrabone looked impressively large at 157 last season, so I’d assume him to be a smaller 165 pounder, and I think that would pose issues for him, despite his Ben Askren-esque style. Pure guesswork on my end tho

Maybe Meyer redshirts

After seeing his post, I wouldn't be entirely sure that he does or doesn't.  He projects that he is in a state of doubt... that he needs to soul search, essentially.

A year away from that grind to focus on his mind and skills rather that weight management and competition might be what he ends of choosing.

Hopefully he completes his Cornell degree instead of walking away before then.

Herrera off the board. to Rutgers

Solid get for Rutgers, likely not an immediate AA threat but at least R16 type and surely will be a 3 time NQ for them with a shot at AA down the road.
