💯. Ono might have the advantage on their feet, but after those 3 points, Vega dominates on the mat.

Given that I was talking about Blaze, I'm not sure about that Vega dominates Blaze on the mat. I'd bet that Vega loses that match, actually.

no ones eating vega alive. He's the real headline from the Duals

He went to OT with Bailey, who got TF by Mendez. So, yes, I'd argue that Mendez would wreck him.

Overall, not a great match vs. Iowa.  Some bright spots, but I think the general consensus was that Oklahoma State would be able to beat Iowa, even with Keuter.

Iowa went 6W-1L in matches decided by two points or less (2-1 in three point OT matches that I am counting for this).  Peterson, Block, and Endene each got the winning takedown in the final minute (final seconds for Peterson and Block).

Oklahoma State could have definitely beaten Iowa.

And they may in February, but they were probably expected to on Sunday- regardless of rankings.

I don’t think he is out of a match with anyone besides Levi. Lost to PK in OT and beat minto I think it’s within his ceiling outcomes.

I am optimistic that the version of Ryder we saw against smith is closer to the version we get in March. He was in every match this weekend despite being on the losing end of most so wouldn’t right him off against anyone quite yet but if this continues that would definitely change.

would definitely not pick Ladarion against Mitchell, it’s probably closer to a major than it is a Ladarion win but 2 takedowns against Caliendo and Caliendo not sniffing one is good enough for me to give him a small shot.

All very good points. I like Facundo but he has no top and bottom game and most of his shots come from straight on no angle and it’s been this way since he got to college so I can’t see him putting together enough offense for a 3rd place run at ncaa. Unless you are Jason Tsirtsis , the more aggressive guy wins at ncaa especially on the backside.

Ryder to me looks exactly the same as he did last season when he was going to 3 OT with R16 guys. I thought he’d be a lot more offensive but doesn’t seem to have the confidence to pull the trigger. 184 is so talented so like Facundo he’s going to have to find some offense to make an ncaa run. I’m also not high on Smith , he’s lost quite a few head scratchers

Lockett looked great I only said something bc you had Haines at just 1 and Messenbrink 1-2. In my opinion that should be flipped , Haines is a heavy favorite but he’s been in quite a few 1 takedown matches in his career so that leaves you more open to an upset while Messenbrink throttles everyone leaving less of a chance for a 1 point loss

Yeah, I don't see how anyone doesn't see Monster Mitch as the largest favorite of any weight class.  It isn't even close.

Haines will have his hands filled with Ruiz (who beat guys who beat guys, albeit in Freestyle) that have wins over Valencia and Marstellar.

Add in that Kennedy isn't going away, Kharchla looks healthy, and his former teammate (who holds a win over him, albeit in Freestyle) and Haines is not a lock.

I just don't see how Kharchla or PK can beat this version of Levi that we have seen since trials. They both want to handfight hard and wear you down which seems like a horrible recipe for success against Levi. I know Kharchla was close last year but Levi seems to have switched gears. Minto and Ruiz I thought could potentially offer some style clashes but neither have looked as good as I thought they potentially may. The only reason I do not have Mitchell on 1 island is not even as much Ladrion beating Caliendo but the fact that he spends a lot of time training with JB and Carr and they also all wrestle extremely similar and that has really been the only style that we have seen Mitch struggle with.

And Lockett has "felt" MM.  They did wrestle, and while it was mostly MM, Dee got a feel for him.  May have even scored a double?

Davino has had an entire year in a college Folkstyle room since they last met in Folkstyle - which Davino won.

An escape in UTB is a win because the scoreboard says it is so, but it doesn't convince me he would win the next time especially considering Blaze has beaten him 3 times in freestyle.

I never said Davino was winning.  I never said Blaze was winning.

I was refuting the notion that Blaze has just blown everyone out of the water on that list and that just isn't true.  He's lost to Davino.

I agree with your thought here, he has not simply blown everyone out. That said, he has beaten Jax 2x and Davino 3x on top of beating numerous other guys. I would rate him, Jax and Davino as all potential champs.

You seem to forget that the consensus on Messenbrink is that he's nothing more than a pace merchant

then you don't know how match-ups and wrestling in general works.

That’s just how leduke talks. Penn state guys don’t beat opponents, they “eat them alive,” “curb stomp them,” “pistol whip them,” etc … I think he might be a ten year old kid,

All things highly illegal in wrestling to begin with. You can't eat people and if you bring a gun into the venue you'll likely be arrested!

Thanks Jimmy. You and Rassling2 are my favorite Penn st fans!

Has Landon Robideau's red shirt been pulled, or stated to be or not to be by the staff?

He has only wrestled 2 dates I believe or 3 depending on how national duals is counted, but I think they firmly intend on him competing all season.

He also beat Hardy 13-2, who Mendez beat 4-1. The transitive property is fun, but isn't always a 100% accurate representation. And just to clarify, Mendez would 100% be my pick in that matchup. But using that data point you gave is not the reason why I'd pick Mendez.

Mendez needed a late Takedown to beat Hardy.  Vega beat him 13-2.
