Has it been confirmed that Gabe Arnold's plan to stop his eligibility clock without a redshirt by enrolling in a junior college will work?

If so, this is a revolutionary idea that should be used by all the top programs.  Gotta give credit for ingenuity.

There is no current loophole.

Due to the Pavia case, the NCAA granted JUCOs an extra year across the Board to stay consistent with that case.  It should be decided this Fall.

As the parent of a D1 athlete, we had the JUCO discussions with a few schools and they were all in agreement that they were NOT expected any further extra years of eligibility for JUCO athletes.

The rule in question would be the “5 in 4 rule,” that once you enroll, you have 5 years to complete 4 years of eligibility (with exceptions for medical and Olympic redshirts).  Other than medical/Olympic redshirts and the 2021 season, has an Ivy/Cornell guy ever unenrolled for more than 1 year after the initial grayshirt year?

It was not a complete across-the-board year, it was a fifth year granted to former JUCO athletes who have currently not used up their 5 year clock.  So if they previously redshirted, they were not granted the fifth year.

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

I don't think anyone is upset at Cornell for utilizing the FLWC.  It's essentially a redshirt, which every other non-Ivy gets.

Not sure your aim there, big guy.

As you said, Vito and Yianni both took an Olympic "RS" in 2020 by unenrolling (the only way to do it in the Ivy League), and then both unenrolled in the 2021 COVID year.  The latter was an explicit exception:  they changed the "4 in 5" (not "5 in 4!") to "4 in 6" for this one time.  AFAIK, nobody else would have been able to take more than one year.

Josh Saunders has two empty years in his wrestlestat history.

Feel this was an unnecessary shot at Brown . . .

But I'm certainly not smart enough for any Ivy League school so take my thoughts w/ a grain of salt

No shade on Brown intended but I see how it may have seemed so. It was just a cheeky innuendo referring to Cornell’s unofficial mascot, Big Red Bear. If I could I would post a picture of the mascot but alas I am unable to.

I don't think that's how it works. I think Cody Howard was un-enrolled for a period of time to help with roster/scholarship limits or something along those lines and his eligibility clock kept ticking.

Big RED Bear?
I don't even know what you do when you see those
I have the other three down.
If it's Black, Fight Back.
If it's Brown, lay down.
If it's white, say good night.

Do you just pretend to not know they're from an Ivy and take subtle jabs like, "wow...Cornell? An Ivy? You mean like Harvard, Yale...Penn, those types of schools? Huh... I never would have thought. I guess in every race, there's someone who finishes last...every test, someone who gets the worst score."

(This may only work with one particular Colleague of mine and it invariably gets them fired up to the point where they start telling me how it's better than my alma mater to wit I simply reply, "nah, don't think so,' despite it being true by nearly every metric...and then invariably they bring up RBG....which is when I have to remind her, she only started at Cornell, she knew she had to do better which is why she went to Harvard and Columbia... or Carl Sagan and I say, "yeah, but he was so corny on Full House," and even after the 4th or 5th time it has NEVER not gotten them worked up, but they also wear a Cornell sweatshirt, hat, shirt...literally every single time I see them outside of a work environment).

And... no, his name is not Andy and I don't work for a paper company, but it's...not THAT far off.

Sorry from derailing this thread, but... it kinda felt like the train was no longer moving and the passengers were disembarking).
