I think this idea was well received last year, so lets run it back this year.

Come one, come all and see if you can dethrone the defending champion @Hwt1. Many tried last year (there were 39 entries), but all failed. Hwt1 is looking to become the Cael Sanderson of prognosticators. I, for one, intend to be the Larry Owings of challengers. Who is with me?

Rules:

  • Pick one wrestler at each weight with a seed between 17 and 33.
  • Tournament scoring. 1 point for a champ bracket win, 1/2 point for a consolation win, standard placement points, and bonus points also apply.
  • The person whose "team" scores the most is the winner.

Tiebreakers:

  1. Score of lowest seeded wrestler between the two teams combined. (if Team A picks all 17 seeds and Team B picks all 18 seeds, Team B wins automatically). If both teams have the same lowest seed with the same points (i.e. still tied) then the next lowest from each team are compared until a difference is found.
  2. If still tied, the wrestler with the highest percentage of their college team's points. (if Team A has a wrestler from Little Rock who scores LR's only points of the tournament, and Team B has a wrestler from Campbell who scores half of Campbell's points for the tournament, Team A wins).

Submit your entries here and I will track. Feel free to change as many times as you like up until Wednesday night.

One caveat: This year I may not have as much time to do round by round updates due to commitments, but I will try.

Last Year's Results for reference.

I just noticed that last year's winning dark horse team would've finished 18th out of 64 at Nationals, outplacing Wisconsin, Minny, Oklahoma, Oregon State, and UNC, among other programs. Nice.

Here are my picks:

125 - #19 Cooper Flynn (MINN)
133 - #21 Angelo Rini (IND)
141 - #24 Jason Miranda (STAN)
149 - #33 Teague Travis (OKST)
157 - #20 Trevor Chumbley (NU)
165 - #26 Paddy Galagher (OHST)
174 - #21 Joshua Ogunsanya (UNC)
184 - #22 Donnell Washington (IND)
197 - #25 Patrick Brophy (CIT)
Hwt - #26 Peter Ming (STAN)

I wanted to pick Headlock Scott so bad but Teemer was sitting there. How did you of all people decide against Teemer and went with Scott instead?

I'm doubtful that Teemer finishes the tournament. My very close second pick was Siebrecht.

You think Slumlord Bob isn't flying out copius amounts of Toradol on his PJ to Philly? As soon as the injury happened he was on the phone with Vito asking him what it takes to get through 3 days with a trophy

Scott is healthy, lol, and I like his spot in the brackets, he could make a 1/4 final run!

I don't remember if the last place dark horse roster were serious picks, as folks sometimes joke around, but check out who those dark horse all-stars would've beaten out in the final team scores. Impressive!

By the end of NCAAs, Teemer will think he's some sort of hummingbird

Speaking of all-stars, the highest scoring low seeded wrestler at each weight scored 47.5 which would have been good enough for 14th place, just ahead of Northern Iowa, Lehigh, and Stanford. 17-33 rise up and revolt.
