On a team with a potential 5X, 4X 3X and 2X National Champ...PLUS Kerk who could easily start a run of 3..."I miss watching the super hammers," he says.

That tells you where PSU has been!

They were a wonder to watch. Very entertaining.  Taylor, Ruth, Retherford, Nickal, Nolf … wizards.

I thought Murin would lose and Cassioppi would win. Wrong on both matches. Kerks length in getting to that ankle is impressive. Awesome ride.

I thought PSU was gonna win the toss up's from '41-'65

Iowa Wrestled hard though. Brands going 2-1 to Cass was impressive. Boring as hell, but impressive.

Murin and Woods were good. I can't figure out Warner.

After watching this dual I am fully convinced that college wrestling would be a better, more exciting product without the riding time point. Outside of Spencer and Aaron Brooks guys just sat on the ankle on top and did not look for turns. Just hang on and try to get the riding time point.

Add push out and quick call for non-action when both are down.   Freestyle-ish?

I look forward to Kerk as the US senior men's wrestling representative after a few more years in the room at PSU and the NLWC.

Might be heading straight to WWE after college

Oh...I remember. I remember watching Zain upset Stieber(biggest regular season upset I'd seen until this year with Gomez).

Then Nolf knocked of Imar when he was still undefeated and going for 4, right?

I feel like Starroci, Haines, Bartlett, Kervliet...and Brooks for that matter, their team next year could be as exciting as those PSU teams. Taylor, Brown, Ruth, those three in a row was as impressive of a team as I've seen.

This was also the #2 ranked team in the Country.

The push out would ruin College athletics.

I'd be fine with quicker stall calls, but then allow for 3 1 point Stallings. Add another one in there before you get to 2 and then a DQ.

If I remember correctly, it's Hunter and Logan Steibllerererer.   Or am I dating myself to the Mat?

Brands vs. Cass, says the guy who doesn't understand redshirt rules and calls out Spencer Lee

I think NCAA football and basketball would do just fine if wrestling added a pushout.

I think if you get rid of riding time there would be much more stalling called on top and a lot more overall action.

Keep riding time, and just call regular stalling , like in high school.

Riding is an offensive scoring opportunity because of riding time and therefore riding is not stalling.

I understand.  That is according to the current rules interpretation.  All they have to add to the rule book  is "improve position" and "work for the fall."

To answer the question re: Kerk.

He’s been weighing in from 251 to 255* this season. No clue about tonight.

I think he weighed in a little heavier for Michigan at like 256.7 or something. Probably a bit more water retention than usual after a rough stretch of practices.

Greg weighed in at 256.2, Tony was at 247.8.

I expected Cass to be heavier than that. Dude has a big ol’ barrel chest.

It would be interesting to plot their respective weights over the last couple seasons. Kerk was purportedly below 230 at 2021 NCAAs.

Lee FALL Steen
RBY MAJ whoever
Woods DEC Bartlett
SVN DEC Murin
Haines DEC whoever
Kennedy DEC Facundo, but just barely
Starocci DEC Brands
Brooks DEC Assad
Dean DEC Warner
Kerk DEC Cassioppi

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

So who won? No, not Penn State. Who cares about that? I mean who won the all important dual score guessing contest?

Q: What does @BobDole wear? Boxers? or Briefs?

     A: Depends

If we count correct number of match winners then the answer is a tie between @Mr. PeanutButter and @Holtfan. Both were a perfect 10 for 10. Can't get much better than that.

image.png.4664bb3758393d074bcfd83a8893e725.png

Or Can You?

Guessing the winners is only half the battle. You have to get the bonus points right, too.  Here we have a tie, too. The Told Ya So Award for the lowest absolute error goes to @Barracuda141 and @PortaJohn. They both got the PSU total spot on and were within spitting distance of the Iowa total. A group of six ( @BerniePragle, @fishbane, @Le duke, @Mr. PeanutButter, @Pish, and Pyle) get the Woulda Coulda Shoulda Award for near misses.

Somehow @Jimmy Cinnabon got 9 of 10 correct, but still had the next to last score error. Keep up the good work.
