He was asked like two questions:

What is preparation like at CSU-B for the Conference tournament?

and

What do you think about Angelo's performance?

How the F did we get all this other sh*t

I also enjoyed him calling out other guys for saying they’ll go in a 3-point stance…

3 point stance = bad. 4 point stance = good lol

So is he setting the stage if he loses for not having a tough room?

I don't think he's capable of intentionally doing that. I think what he says is what crosses his brain at that exact moment. There isnt any planning or foresight in what comes out of his mouth.

Interesting cat - may want to work on self-awareness?  He's not boring - which is something.  Out sport does tend to have some big personalities!

what happens to Smith after this season?

That can't be right. He has always stood for personal accountability.

Anyone else notice he seemed to suggest that he has two more years of eligibility after this one? He said he wants to be 2025, 2026 and 2027 national champ.

That has been his claim since the beginning of the year.

Although his on-the-mat wrestling style is super boring.

I am probably missing something, as usual, but I didn't think this interview was bad at all (by his standards).

He didn't come across as psychotic and didn't say anything particularly offensive.  His manner seemed relatively calm and somewhat professional.  He seemed to acknowledge he had some personal work to do.

His dig about practice room competition wasn't exactly teammate of the year stuff, but it was delivered low key and quickly and obviously it's true and the elephant in the room if not addressed.

I do agree that the 3 point stance line was quite ironic and comical.

Again, I began this with the caveat "by his standards," and if I were a coach I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole, but given who we're dealing with, I didn't think this interview was particularly negatively notable.

Are you talking about AJ Ferrari or my sister-in-law?

Transferring?  As a former coach, I can only say I'd avoid this kid like the plague.  Talk about someone that would compromise your program?  Me, me, me, I, I, I.  Kinda sounds like someone else constantly in the news these days.

Your take reminded me of when Brian Smith first took over at Mizzou. They had Scott Barker on the team, who was a national finalist, but the dude was toxic (not AJ toxic, but still). Smith booted him from the team. A national finalist.

i gained a ton of respect for Smith with that. Would rather have a good culture that builds good men than allow toxicity into the program he’s trying to build, even if it meant losing team points.

Not to say other coaches aren’t trying to do the same with allowing AJ into their program, but makes you wonder how important winning is.
