Ferrari in Bakersfield isn't exactly setting the world on fire lately.

Seems to be hiding.

Will he actually be ready & peaking for the NCAA tourmament?

If not he might not be All American this year.

I think he's just as likely to win NCAA's as he is to not even compete in the conference qualifiers.

This is a roundabout way of saying he's gonna show up at conferences and not win NCAAs, which isn't too profound.

I'm saying he takes 7th.

….That’s not what I said, for either option here.  This is the definition of reading what you want to see, not what’s actually been written.

I think if he wrestles, he has a high chance of winning.  I also think there is a much greater than zero chance he doesn’t wrestle.

”Meh, word milkshake says 4th now.”

No…that’s not what I said.

alright just explain to me how he can be equally likely to win NCAAs and not show up for conferences....

I would be surprised by that

Can't lose if you don't compete. He keeps himself out of trouble this year, his potential to be an NCAA champ is still in tact, and he gets some money to show up and compete somewhere next year..

Hammer, he was just saying that he thinks there is a good chance he doesn't wrestle again this season.

I know and I'm not trying to be a dick but why would he express that thought by implying he's likely to win NCAAs....

Agree.  Not showing up for the postseason would probably scare off the few teams that may actually be interested in him, unless he is legitimately injured.  And judging by his weightlifting videos that doesn’t appear to be the case.

I feel like there’s a semi decent chance he doesn’t wrestle another match after he loses at NCAA’s.

So if I had to guess I’d say 6th after losing in semis.   But could also be 1st, 2nd, or DNP.

I would actually question that. He could easily make the argument that he used this year to show that he can keep his nose clean and would be a more active participant on a more competitive roster next year. I'm not saying that I think he foregoes the post season, but I am saying I won't be all that surprised if he does. And there could very well be conversations going on behind the scenes as we speak.

Do you think he has an idea of where he stands; since I think, Angelo would be having reps with Buchanon and casually saying this is where I stand?

Interesting thought.

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

Could he get a medical and preserve his 3 years of eligibility? Because that might increase his value

How many medicals can you get?

This is probably the most accurate answer there is.  The Fast Twitch defense is undeniably great, but I can't see it getting him past a Buchanan or Barr type when they have been competing more consistently in the last 3 years.  His best hope for making the finals would be for those two to be opposite his side of the bracket.

Risk a loss and no longer be able to claim “greatest 197 lber ever”? Or duck out and keep claiming that status? For a guy that likes attention probably more than anything, that has to be quite a conundrum.

if he competes, he is a lower AA (5-8 range)

but

it's almost a no win for him unless he stands on top of the podium in March due to his extreme hubris

risk vs reward - despite the well documented circus that he is , he is a former NCAA champ and placing this year would have teams looking for his services for the next 2 years

but will his ego allow him to understand he is not on top of the pile any longer

as stated above Buchannan and Barr would need to be on same side for AJ to have a chance the make finals

You don't get better facing cupcakes & dodging the tough matches. You don't get better with no challenge in the room for training.

He might do well but from what we have seen it is not apparent he is a real threat to win it all this year.

Next year his younger brother may have grown into 197. Maybe they can meet on the mat because I doubt Iowa will bring him in.
