The Ferrari Family:  it's like watching a tacky Jersey Shore family show set in a house full of mirrors.  The kids all hanging out in a room full of weights and listening to loud, bad music.  The mom pumped up on plastic surgery.   The Dad still in love with flashy sports cars in the driveway.   The police having to break up late night parties.   I'm surprised they haven't tried to make it into a reality show.  The boys could invite over the Kardashians and make scatological jokes that are only funny to 9 year olds.

Except they are from Texas.

The scramble had been going on for about 40 seconds with nobody ever close to actually scoring.  Man, you guys hate Iowa that much you want to root for the guy who, as a senior returning finalist, had no legitimate offensive opportunities against a true frosh, who had multiple deep shots and opportunities to score.

It had gone for a long time but the ref blew the whistle right after Angelo went past 90 degrees.

He blew it for potentially dangerous, btw, according to the broadcast.  I couldn't see the refs hands to confirm.

Right, but nothing changed except for Angelo going past 90 degrees. When he blew the whistle I thought it was for a stalemate but according to broadcast was potentially dangerous. I just thought it was interesting as it happened in real time.

the action started at 1:49 after Angelo initiated the action getting to Plotts leg. The stalemate was called at :59 seconds with Angelo still holding the leg

What did everyone think about Rink Sakamoto. He needs work on the bottom, but I liked that he was able to keep moving at least until he got tired. Honestly thought it was a decent showing, going up against a top 3 guy at the weight probably still a little small for it (he's been wrestling 57kg internationally as recently as December) and in probably the hardest environment possible. He kept looking for what seemed like a back trip single to the right side or maybe a whip over I'm not entirely sure. I also was not sure if he was initiating those hip-to-hip Merkel positions or if that was Ayala. Either way he was not getting the edge in those situations so that's something that he will need to sort out. Overall though I think he could be very good it will be interesting if he is the guy next year.

I don't think questioning the stoppage is hating on Iowa.  I saw it live and thought it seemed premature.  Haven't rewatched the sequence and wasn't on here posting about it but it's a legit question.  I do agree with you that some of the other comments have been below the belt but not on this particular subject.

My thoughts were the same. Ayala was clearly comfortable in those positions and scored from them, so maybe switch things up. But by that time he was pretty gassed from the ride. All in all, it is very valuable experience against a guy who is a  national champ threat. Learn from it and get better.

Where were you sitting?  Wished I'd known, had an empty seat next to me on row 14?  Hope you're not just throw'n poop here.  😉

Ok I'll admit it.  When I blew the whistle and called potentially dangerous I had instant doubts.  Covers blown

I mean it's not impossible that Caliendo gets the major, but I think it's more likely that Amine wins than Caliendo scores bonus.  In 6 years of NCAA competition Amine has conceded a single bonus point.

Tbf, I'm not sure Cal would've bonused Amine last night if it wasn't for the injury time. That extra escape was huge. But I also wasn't surprised by the result. He sure looked great.

It was a great performance by Caliendo.  I got that one wrong.  Had Amine been wrestling with the mask leading up to the dual or was that new too?

It was a fun dual with good wrestling and pages of build up. Very impressed that no one started a thread titled, 'I really enjoyed the coach David Taylor era.'

I think he has a lot of potential. That might have been his first folkstyle match ever.  He looked very talented on his feet. He is only a freshman. I think he ends up being a stud after a couple years training with Gilman, Fix, and RBY.
