Bo Bassett feels like one of the Hawkeyes last chances to rejuvinate their program in the Brands regime. I don't think Bassett is quite the wrestler Spencer was coming out but I believe he makes up for that in how big his brand is already and they very very clear attraction he will give to other recruits. Iowa has become the New York Yankees or Los Angeles Lakers in recent years where they are competitive but it has become clear that the fanbase expectation is to win championships and I think that window may already be closed now but the key may be locked and thrown in the trash if they can't land the new face of the program. That being said if they do land Bo it is more important than ever to build a team around him. They were able to build a championship team around Spencer (probably should've been 2 titles) they will need to pull it off again. And if they don't get Bassett, what direction does the Hawkeye program move to?

They actually said they’re going to just end the program if they don’t sign him.   So I’ve heard at least from my “sources”.

After missing out on the 2024 PFP #1 recruit and a 2024 U20 silver medalist combined with the 2024 57kg olympic silver medalist defecting away, I think it's fair to say that Iowa is even more cooked than Ohio State. Hawkeyes should probably be relegated to NAIA.

No, they actually have a super strong recruiting class coming in even without him

The number 7 ranked recruiting class?

What a bizarre world where fans of any team other than Penn State can have the audacity to question the program health of Iowa, lol.

What is their projected line-up next year?

You know the Iowa fans are gonna say this and much worse if Bo chooses PSU...

Ohio State is toast. Iowa is charred to a crisp. The DT era will end before it begins. Michigan is defunding and Cornell is getting annexed by Canada

You don't know what you're talking aboot, eh.

There will certainly be some bellyaching. Have you been paying attention to what a loud subset of PSU fans have been saying on Twitter and the forums about Bo?

Twitter?  Are Wkn and Mr. PB the last hold outs still using Twitter?

Things are setting up nicely for Duke.

Bo is still 16ish months away from entering college. I’d put it at a 25% chance right now that he could flip before that after he commits tomorrow.

This is true, but what if he got his G.E.D. this spring ? He could be enrolled at the school of his choice in the fall. May depend on timeline and strategy for redshirting and the 2028 Olympic year. With the big dollars he could pay his own tuition and free up a scholarship for one of his friends to join him. So many variables. But I do agree, the odds of him staying put for his entire college career are slim.

So in my first serious non-sheeeeit post of the day, I do wonder if we will see more wrestlers (and athletes in general) reverse course from the junior high redshirt and instead follow the Bryce Harper path of GED -> JuCo (greyshirt) while collecting NIL, training at their committed RTC, and not counting against their D1 eligibility according to the courts -> D1 program

Is this the 4th and half thread about Bo Bassett in a 24 hour period?  @flyingcement why didn't we do an over/under bet on this.  I know @Hammerlock3 would've been in on the action

But didn't fly already sell out his avatar, his signature and his soul?  Sure H3 is always looking for action.

I am not an inherent gambler, but for things that I can afford to gamble (month-long commitment to sporting an avatar of a winner), I like to be extra aggressive, especially in a place that could benefit from extra engagement

What if the 3 of us worked together, lured Hammer in, set the over/under, manipulated the Basset thread market, and Fly got his sig and soul back?  In turn, Fly you wire us $1mil cinnabucks each
