The NWCA All-Star Classic matches are set for November 16, 6pm (CST) and can be viewed on Flowrestling. Great to see two of my Jackrabbits in the mix as Cade Devos was substituted for Rocco Welsh at 174. Does this mean Rocco is going to stay at 184 this year?? What are your predictions for the matches?

Below are the match ups from Flowrestlings website: https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/12980965-nasir-bailey-vs-evan-frost-2024-nwca-all-star-classic-preview

125: Volk
133: Frost (he got teched last year by Bailey so this is probably a very dumb pick)
141: Mendez (two takedowns to zero)
149: Watters (I think It takes SVN the first semester to get back to where he was at NCAA's and to start last year)
157: Kasak
165: Hall
174: Levi
184: PK (I think he finds a way to finish)
197: Little by major
285: Feldman by major

I am coming out of the gate fast. Like a Jackrabbit? Jordan at 125.

Bailey does it again at 133.

Too much dog in Mendez for Bartlett at 141.

SVN shakes off the rust and shows he used his time wisely at 149.

Kasak shows it was no fluke at 157.

In a coin flip it flips Garvin's way at 165.

Jackrabbits may be fast, but what is their endurance? Gonna have to go Levi at 174.

Satrocci invents some slight to motivate himself and beats Keck in a snooze fest at 184.

My upset special is a man who cannot even spell his own name. Give me Braunagel at 197.

No upset at 285. Ghadiali wil be feld by the man.

125: #3 Jore Volk, Wyoming vs #6 Tanner Jordan, South Dakota State

  • As a retired wrestler who was tall for his weight class and was a leg rider, I'm a huge Tanner Jordan fan. But I think Volk is too much.

133: #2 Nasir Bailey, Little Rock vs #4 Evan Frost, Iowa State

  • I am an Iowa State fan (couple kids I coached on roster there) and a big Evan Frost believer. But I can't unsee Nasir teching him last year.

141: #2 Jesse Mendez, Ohio State vs #3 Beau Bartlett, Penn State

  • I think he's figured out the Bartlett puzzle and I'd be surprised if he ever lost to him again honestly.

149: #2 Shayne Van Ness, Penn State vs #3 Ty Watters, West Virginia

  • Big Ty Watters fan. Sat by his family at NCAAs last year. Great people. But I think 149 is SVN's weight to lose this year.

157: #4 Tyler Kasak, Penn State vs #5 Peyten Kellar, Ohio

  • Kasak will probably make me regret this pick. I generally live by the rule of never picking against PSU in big matches. But, Kasak coming up two weights (he was really a 141 last year), and Kellar is a good sized 157. I'll take the slight upset.

165: #3 Hunter Garvin, Stanford vs #4 Peyton Hall, West Virginia

  • Refer to my 149 points. Sat by Peyton Hall's family also. Again, salt of the earth people. I think Garvin had a great NCAAs, but I'm not sure he's that guy consistently. Country roads take me home.

174: #2 Levi Haines, Penn State vs  #3 Cade DeVos, SDSU

  • As a guy who wrestled at a mid-major (SIUE), I try to root for the small schools as much as possible. But Levi is  different kind of cat.

184: #1 Carter Starocci, Penn State vs #2 Parker Keckeisen, Northern Iowa

  • Refer to my 174 point about rooting for mid-majors. But I am not going to ever pick against a 4xer.

197: #5 Stephen Little, Little Rock vs #9 Zac Braunagel, Illinois

  • I was impressed with Little last year. Mid-majors standup.

285: #3 Nick Feldman, Ohio State vs #7 Taye Ghadiali, Campbell

  • I expect a big jump from Feldman this year. Ghadiali is fun to watch though.

For full disclosure, I have on my blue and yellow jackrabbit glasses making these picks.

125: #3 Jore Volk, Wyoming vs #6 Tanner Jordan, South Dakota State

I will pick Jordan in a dec 4-1. Volk is 3-1 against Jordan. The matches have been generally close. WS prediction is Volk 6-5.

133: #2 Nasir Bailey, Little Rock vs #4 Evan Frost, Iowa State

I will pick a MDec 14-5 for Bailey. Bailey is 1-0 against Frost (with a TF 15-0 win). WS prediction: 7-5 Bailey

141: #2 Jesse Mendez, Ohio State vs #3 Beau Bartlett, Penn State

I will pick a dec 7-2 for Mendez. Mendez is 2-1 against Bartlett. WS Prediction: 6-5 Mendez

149: #2 Shayne Van Ness, Penn State vs #3 Ty Watters, West Virginia

I will pick a dec 9-5 for Van Ness. These two have never met. WS prediction: 8-7 Watters

157: #4 Tyler Kasak, Penn State vs #5 Peyten Kellar, Ohio

I will pick a dec 5-4 for Kasak. These two have not met. WS prediction: 8-5 Kasak

165: #3 Hunter Garvin, Stanford vs #4 Peyton Hall, West Virginia

I will pick a dec 8-7 for Hall. Garvin is 1-0 against Hall with a 14-4 win at NCAA's last year. WS prediction: 8-6 Hall.

174: #2 Levi Haines, Penn State vs  #3 Cade DeVos, SDSU

I will pick a dec 6-4 for DeVos. These two have never wrestled. I am picking this because I cannot in good conscience go against my jackrabbits on a big stage. WS prediction: 8-3 Haines

184: #1 Carter Starocci, Penn State vs #2 Parker Keckeisen, Northern Iowa

I will pick a dec 7-6 for Keckeisen. These two have never met. Biggest match of the night! WS prediction: 6-5 Keckeisen

197: #5 Stephen Little, Little Rock vs #9 Zac Braunagel, Illinois

I will pick a dec 4-2 for Braunagel. These two have not met. WS prediction: 8-6 Braunagel

285: #3 Nick Feldman, Ohio State vs #7 Taye Ghadiali, Campbell

I will pick a dec 14-7 for Feldman. These two are 1-1 against each other with an injury default loss for Feldman and then a 10-4 win for Feldman at NCAA's. WS prediction: 8-7 Feldman.

You are on. We are on the opposite side of 5 matches, so no way we can tie.

I will give you the option of the avatar or the signature line if you win.

I think getting in will be the problem, he's the best finisher in the NCAA, the danger is that he gets crushed by position.

They should start at 197 and finish with Starocci vs Keckeisen.

Not a bad idea.  Or because it's an exhibition they should order the weights based on least to most anticipated.

Give us 141 first and 184 last probably my two favorite matchups and it guarantees viewership throughout.

edit: 149 has a ton of intrigue too how does SVN look after a year off and did Watters make a jump to title contention?

I will take bets on the matches and give 3:1, 5:1 and 10:1 odds with payouts guaranteed for every bet.

Bet $3, $5 or $10 and I guarantee you will win a dollar, even if your guy loses.
