2024 NCAA Championships - Session 3

Recommended Posts

Thoughts on Michigan next round...

125 - DeAuggie was getting schooled by Ungar at CKWC.  Ungar doesn't look the same, though.
133 - Ragusin needs to show urgency or it will be a repeat of B1Gs.
141 - Lemley needs to let loose and he will be win.  If he half-shoots and doesn't do a damn thing, he is going home this session.
149 - Gomez needs to wrestle smart and not go for the big move early.  IF he does that I do think he'll come away with the W.
157 - Lewan and Lovett have split their career with two 3-2 UTB2 matches.  Yaaaaay
165 - I hope Amine doesn't get stalled out here.  I really hope not.
174 - Griffith should win.  I think he sees Lewis, but I am hoping he sees Sta(l)rocci in the semi-finals.  If he can ride him he can beat him.
184 - Bullock gets Kane.  Kane can go toe-to-toe on strength with him, but Bullock should win this one.
HWT - Davison and Bastida had a close on at CKLV.  I am hoping for a similar performance.  Davison looks good right now.

Rule changed this year.

I saw in the rule book two hours, but the 2023-24 operations manual has it as 1 hour on day 2 and 3, so wasn't sure which would take precedence.

My work station is up. Drinking will have to wait until the semis.

Why?

Time is a construct

It is legitimately 7:30 PM in Dubai.

If everyone just accepts that for Session 3, then we will all have a good laugh as well as a solid nap before this evenings semi-finals.

The good news - Thursdays and Fridays I work from home. I have a three-screen set-up at my home office - two for work and my Mac will have the Matcast.

That being said, I still need to be sober in case something happens on a Friday afternoon in our beloved capital...which is never.

Everyone got their alcoholic beverages and stations set up?

I'm saving this for the evening. I'm sure at least one person (@ionel) can appreciate a superior single malt on a Friday night

Because you used an absolute ('never') I fear you have jinxed yourself.

We all have no choice but to pick up the slack.

I am breaking the liquor cabinet open and drinking 11 half gallons for you before I even break in to mine.

In other news, I have fourteen 3lb new york strips and a 50lb bag of idaho potatoes already cooked up.

Thirteen tubs of sour cream, eight whole onions, and two full hogs-worth of bacon.

You want more rapists in Iowa?

excellent choice.

last night started with mal bien mezcal and ended with arran scotch.

I think I take a trip to Ireland tonight and either go with the Redbreast or Green Spot, perhaps both.

That is my go to Scotch. I have had a continuous supply of Macallen 12 Single Malt for 30 years at least.

I went with Dalmore last nite and I am saving my current fave BenRiach 25 (from the 1994 batch) for Saturday nite. Cheers!

I think quarterfinal wins are worth 7 points (plus possible bonus), which is huge.   Previous wins in the championship round were only worth 1 point (plus possible bonus).   It will make huge differences in the team race.  If you win in the quarters, you are guaranteed AA status (and at least 6th place), right?

Edit:  I didn't mean to post this as a reply to the comment.  Oh well.  Let the matches begin!

No.  It was a test to see if you were paying attention.

You're supposed to say something mean now.

Then we drink four gallons of JW Red Label before Session 3 starts.

I was anticipating FC jumping in and ribbing both of us, but he was too slow.

Might be signing with @Ohio Elite...but we have a lot of history. @flyingcement might be able to keep this group together.  But I dont know

Ha, another DC wfh guy here too. Got quarterfinal mat cast on the tv and two mats up on my computer (switching back and forth to the matches I want to see up close).

Work computer is off to the side, just to monitor email.
