Dake is lucky he didn't get Amouzad'd with all that skating and negative wrestling at the end. But a win's a win and USA is back on top at 86 with a guy who is u20 eligible!

Incredible. Let’s not forget Dake had to go through Zahid who blitzed the field last year. And to do it at 35 years old. Wow. He’s now a 5x world champ. That’s serious.

Super quick math but I believe USA needs one Gold tomorrow to beat Russia…regardless of Russia’s results.  At the airport so don’t have time to double check.

To be clear, I believe Russia could run the table tomorrow as long as we win one Gold.  We’d still have them.

I thought by now it was U16. Thought maybe we'd see him in Fargo this year.

So glad the FILA days are behind us. By this point they would’ve, mid-tournament, instituted three allowable 60-second time-outs and some other shit to put the US at a disadvantage. Wrestling getting cut from the Olympics was the best thing to ever happen.

Watching the Wyatt montage on YouTube, the foreign commentator asks about how switching from collegiate to international is a challenge… it shouldn’t be. Making excuses for folkstyle in high school and college is lazy. It’s lazy by the adults who’ve had their time at the detriment of our children. Learn freestyle and Greco and teach it. The adults make decisions, not the kids. We adults keep saying folkstyle matters. It doesn’t matter any more than the random wrestling match in the sand in the middle of Africa where the guy who gets pushed outside of the rope has to have his arm cut off by a machete.. that’s folkstyle to them. We just don’t make losing have such a consequence… so it matters even less.

Have you read the PSU forums? I’m not sure if some of them realize wrestling takes place outside of State College.  @Husker_Du just asked the same question on the show today.

NLWC has dominated our International teams for years, so I think they know. Human nature being what it is, some will root for RBY just as some Iowa fans or OSU fans might root for one of their own if the roles were reversed.

So far Team USA has had a pretty incredible run, MFS has already locked up 9 medals, and James Green is still in the hunt for the tenth.
What’s crazy is that before this started I was pretty uncertain about how we would do.

Is it possible to watch a wrestling match, be entertained, and be happy for whoever wins?

Root for the usa only.   Leaving and wrestling for another country cause you’re not good enough to do it here isn’t cool.  It isn’t a good practice.   Stealing the idea from the corrupt Russians isn’t a good idea either

Just a few short months ago, Flo was crapping on Adaugo Nwachukwu as that strange Nigerian who upset America's sweetheart Macey Kilty in Final X

But since she won a medal? ADAUGO IS NOW A MAGICAL AMERICAN WHO DESERVES ENDLESS PRAISE

(cut to an AI video of Christian Pyles time traveling back to the birth of Adaugo Nwachukwu and saying that he always believed in her)

Meh.

Rby decided to be a Mexican citizen after college when he knew he couldn’t make a world team here.  It is what it is.  He wasn’t super into being a Mexican citizen until after college.   He applied for dual citizenship after college and immediately switched his allegiance to that team.  It has nothing whatsoever to do with his Mexican heritage.   His dad grew up here.  He grew up here.   He should be competing / attempting to compete for team USA.

omg his knee?

What was that stumble and fall?

I'm catching up through the pages to see if this is really not being discussed in depth.. That stumble and fall looked like his knee gave out. When he stood up, he started to limp and quickly looked around like "did anyone notice that my knee just gave out?" And then the way he walked off the mat looked like he was trying his best to walk without a limp.

I'll edit if I stumble across further discussion on this.

RBY is in the world finals. He obviously believes in himself.
