I'm guessing Michigan will be looking to add a new assistant or associate head with Churella stepping away from his role.  Big shoes to fill there.

Has to be Dierenger

Kellen Russell please come home

Promote Dierenger or even see if Jake Herbert has any interest in coaching? He still hangs around the room and is a full-time michigander. As a successful real estate agent, it's something that could be very beneficial seeing , he's a phenomenal wrestler and would bring a whole new perspective and fresh viewpoints to the room.... After those two , you would think , maybe they reach out to Myles Amine or Logan Massa

Yeah, it goes beyond results, though they speak for themselves. You just don’t see kids showing up there and reaching potential. I’m sure this isn’t the case, but it looks like a team of kids that practice and drill together without any leadership or coaching, then they go out and do the best they can. The development is practically nil. But, as emphasized by the assistant in question, when you have a program in place and there is zero effort to turn the tides, they are just happy to hold serve, this is what you get. If you aren’t innovating and improving, you are talking behind. When that happens across like several coaching tenures…honestly slightly surprised to see them still having a program.

Indiana has turned it around. Maryland has turned it around. Michigan State... somebody better might want that Big Ten head coach job.

Whenever a head coach leaves from these schools that have been down so long, they will just hire an alumni that nobody is excited about to take it over. Buut MSU been down for so long that its not even like there's a good former wrestler to give it to. So whenever Chandler steps down, I think there should be a few good options.

Well, curated a response for each of you and hit submit, and then nothing popped up the the text was all gone. Soooooo…yeah.

MSU has a few solid alums from post-2000 who could maybe turn them around. Bringing in the Simmons brothers could be like a TnT lite. Franklin Gomez would be a huge move for them. Outside of those, maybe Rashad Evans or Gray Maynard could be splash-y enough and smart enough to turn it around. At minimum they open the door to kids who want to transition to combat sports after college.

On U of M coaching stuff…give me Kellen Russel to fill in for AHC after Churella steps down, get rid of Kevin Jackson and promote Dieringer. I’m sure Dieringer is a gift from god when it comes to film and recruiting, but him not being on staff to work with the team in a more fulfilled role is actually malpractice, and specially when KJ is still doing exactly that. Beyond my dream of Russell coming in and Dieringer moving up, I like Massa and Amine a lot. I’d like to see Mason Parris move on to staff eventually as well. Won’t be able to fit all these names, but I really like Russell coming in and assuming the position after Bormet leaves. I’m hopeful for that and have a hard time thinking of any other scenarios

Go outside the "Michigan" perspective.  Swap Alex and Jackson.  Get Alex on the college staff to be with the guys more.

PLEASE BRING IN KELLEN RUSSELL.  I know I said go outside the Michigan perspective.  But, he's been gone long enough to add a new perspective.

MSU- after what happened at Oregon State between Simmons and a recruit I don’t see any school giving him a HC job.

This. All of this. Kellen Russell is going to be running a program soon enough, and I’d absolutely hate for that program to be anyone but Michigan. If he took over at Cornell, for example, I would expect them to continue putting out the best wrestlers in the Ivy and some of the best in the country, little to no drop off. Every time one of their kids hits the portal or finishes their 4 in the Ivy League, you’d see suitors flocking to them. There’s a passion there that’s not dying, and his capabilities are supported by his proven coaching acumen and his abilities as a wrestler. I think leaving to play a significant role at another program and under different coaching styles and ethics has helped round him out as a teacher of the sport and a learner of what it takes to be in charge of a quality program. I will beat this drum til it happens, he’s a phenomenal candidate to take over for Bormet in a handful of years. Churella left the perfect opening, and also supplants himself as the most likely potential successor. Move Jackson into a nil role or smaller role to ease into retirement, get Dieringer out of the office and on the mat, teaching and being with these kids as they roll around, sweating with them and teaching in the moment, being available in the corner of the mat, etc., and bring in someone new looking to start fresh to fill the film/recruiting role Dieringer leaves behind.

Someone please help me…this simply cannot come to fruition, U of M doesn’t operate in logic like this. I’m stuck in this fantasy land, tho. Send help

Not saying he would be commendable or not, not trying to speak on his character and I don’t personally know him. But, people make mistakes (even super dumb ones) and people change and grow. He might be a POS for all I know, and also may not be interested altogether. I’m just spitballing potentials off the alum list, and also note that scumbag coaches/players are abound at all levels in all sports. Pretty sure there’s comments elsewhere toward Echemendia and, previously, Ferrari, etc. I’m not trying to play judge on who fits in those roles with those histories or anything, but also…the next Flo docuseries writes itself when he brings MSU back from the dumpster and kids start winning AA honors and high level recruits commit to them and stuff 😂🤷🏽‍♂️

Luke Welch leaving the Citadel and is headed to Binghamton to take #2 spot with Coach Leblanc. He just was named head coach at the Citadel. Is this rare for someone to give of a head spot? Does the Citadel pay bad? They lost two head coaches in one year.

I could be wrong but wasn't he only interim head? I don't think he had the job officially

Russell would be a great hire at UofM, but he seems to be moving towards his home of NJ. He was a finalist for the Binghamton job, but with no guarantee of a new facility and lack of pay it was better to stay at Cornell. Michigan has done a commendable job with the coaches in place, both on the NCAA and international level. A change from Churella, Jackson, and Bolyard to Dieringer, Russell, and Parris would be huge and possibly spark the room a bit. Make Jackson the HC of the CKWC. Keep him around as he is a great mind when it comes to the international scene, as I have been told directly.

OK I think your right. Just D1 Head spots are hard to come by! Thought he would surely get it.

Two points on coaches.

it seems that the Michigan fan base has forgotten that they added Bolyard to their staff several years ago.  He has HC experience, can he slot into the Associate HC position?

I believe Citadel is still searching for a HC to fill the open slot.  What about Grant Leeth, he seemed to bring in a high energy effort trying to get Tarleton State wrestling kicked off.

I don't think he will last long there, he's too much of a hippie. I'd say he's on his way back to NorCal before long.
