I mean...he's not exactly venturing too far out onto that limb there...saying the 3X Champ a weight up isn't going to lose to Amine(who is an outstanding Wrestler).

As usual...I have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. I "stalked YOUR profile?" I mean...sure. If you need that to be true! I think you're getting confused(though that's of little surprise). LMFAO!!! Riiight! I just stated as much...but per usual, it didn't register with ya. ...I...huh? My "excuse" for what exactly? Exactly what am I meant to need an 'excuse' for here? Is this thread an example of ME "stalking your profile?" Again, your opinion of yourself is almost cartoonish. -
I understand that and I wasn't speaking to how right or wrong either was. I'm speaking more to the speculation about getting a transfer and how often it's talked about and how seldom it actually happens for the school in question. There were always rumors a Wrestler was going to transfer in to fill the hole we needed and it never happened. The only times it did was when a kid who was in another school district open enrolled to start HS to Wrestle for our coach. At this level, the speculation reminds me of being back in HS.

Believe it or not lil bud, sometimes I'm really just having a discussion that doesn't involve you. The end goal would ideally be just less interaction...but just as it's difficult to stop that when I have to watch my Sister's yappy little cocker spaniel that's always hopping my feet, biting at my ankles and just generally spazzing out around me, it's equally difficult to do so on here. In fairness, I can just put the dog in the cage in the Basement and after a few hours, he usually tires himself out. I can't seem to find a way to shake you on here though...much as I'd like to. -
Part of the reason I think he'll pursue #4 and #5. The History of it being far more significant. Hell, if things go as I suspect they will in '24, he may be more invested than ever in '25.

They do generally tend to be good bets. And I'd be shocked to see Starocci lose to Marsteller again. I think it's more likely he wins the spot at 74KG than Marsteller beats him...and I don't think Dake is giving up his spot at 74 just yet. I'm also of the belief that Starocci will be back for #4 and #5(provided he gets #4). The possibility of being the first in NCAA history has to be pretty compelling to the ego. When your ego has it's own gravitational pull....

So...to be clear here, I'M the stalker? I mean...look at your last post? You're once again interjecting yourself into a response to me that, while I understand painful, was not actually about you! -

Insomuch as one "loves" Shingles or some other deeply annoying affliction, sure. If meant sincerely...well, let me steal a page from his book(and about his size!); -
That was just bad. And it's one of those reasons I hate the, "don't leave it in the refs hands." I'm fine with not calling the pin. Going back and watching these matches, there are quite a few times where a pin could have been called and it wasn't, be it defensive or whatever. But those TDs on the edge are just awful. Particularly at that point when they weren't as generous with the TDs on the edge as they are now. It has to hurt losing a match like THAT. I mean...we've all likely lost some matches we thought we should have won(or believed we should have won if not for the ref), but this was just so egregious and next level.

You put "We should never change the rules," in quotes. Quotes means someone said that...and nobody said anything CLOSE to that. There have been several times people wanted rule changes. The difference between NOT wanting the step out rule or EVERY rule change is not pedantic, it's just not agreeing with you. Sometimes it's just changing shit just to change it...which AGAIN, they did for years in Greco and Freestyle to it's detriment. LOL...oh Christ...the irony here is just too much! A guy who never wrestled, who's doesn't respect the style of Wrestling we're talking about and who's..."accomplishments," I guess are being the most proliferate poster of Gifs and questioning the toughness of people who don't agree with him...it's cute. And you don't even need to reply. We already know it. I don't want to get that little bird chirping again I should have known some things can't be helped! -

I don't want to get that little bird chirping again, but I think it was a little more than that...and we're also conflating COLLEGE Wrestling with Olympic Wrestling, but we did a terrible job of marketing the sport. Again, the biggest match that was shown on TV was the not the most exciting match you could think of. To this day, it's the match people remember because they made such a big deal about it during the Olympic coverage. This epic upset that everyone talked about(along with the myths that surrounded it). They showed Karelin and Rulon over and over. Didn't see Saitiev vs Slay. I think that was a bigger problem. MMA and Wrestlers success has also helped the sport a great deal. My interpretation was the reason it HAD fallen behind, not that it was falling behind where it is NOW. The time it was "behind" was ~2000 until they tried to get rid of it and cut it to 6 Olympic sports. -

I've literally never seen anyone say "we should have never changed the rules..." -
God Gable seemed obnoxious during this match. I know this is going to draw the ire of all Iowa fans, but...just the antithesis of Cael in the corner. Just screaming and swearing at the refs in the corner. I get that type of intensity is what made him Gable in the first place, but that makes Tom and Terry look like they're sedated during matches. And hasn't Tom Ryan said something about how they take it too far? That's kinda funny! Anyway, another great match. I guess Iu_alum doesn't stand for Illinois then?

I'm not sure how you once again made this about your kids, but...no, I don't take pride in the accomplishments of kids that I don't know. I get your need to live vicariously through them and somehow inject them into every topic, but I'm almost completely indifferent. Now, because I know you you can't rest and you may get the shakes if you don't get the last word....in this thread about a young man choosing to attempt to become a Navy Seal rather than Wrestle in College, I am done now and you can re-use another Gif that you find super clever. I hope things improve for you bud! I'm rooting for ya!

Dake definitely kinda slid under the radar. He won it, but I don't think many people expected him to come back and win it again...and certainly not 3 more times. It didn't really hit me until his Soph year and the way he just dominated that field. IIRC, he gave up 1 point to Molinaro in the finals and that was it. In retrospect, I think he could have opened up more, but he was so dominant on top....it was just truly impressive. And I don't like watching a guy ride someone out for...what, 6 minutes, but it was impossible to not respect it.
-
LOL...and we need people like you!
-
Imar was just a physically dominant Wrestler He was SO strong, it's almost like it did him a disservice. He never really adjusted because...he had ONE loss through two years to some guy named Nolf, and nobody really heard much about him after that! Another all-time great match. If Nolf wins this match, he MAY be considered the 2nd greatest College Wrestler of all time? But that last TD was slick and just Imar at his best. He was a problem when he jacked up that underhook.
-
You thought that? Because a Gif said it? You...you really take them all literal? That explains a lot. The rest is the usual incoherent nonsense. "Other things in life?" Are you saying there's more to life than Wrestling? Is that the "wisdom" you're imparting here? Wonderful. Where would we be without these gems you had out for free!

No, I'm more than happy with the way the rules are now. But when you ask my opinion on a set of rule changes...I'll give it. Sometimes it's pointless and silly. Like the facial hair(what was the rule for that one to begin with? It may irritate or hurt a Wrestlers skin? LOL...c'mon! Look at the amount of interest there is in College Wrestling. One part of that is because...while the rules have changed, they don't make these wide sweeping changes like they did in Freestyle and Greco for years. People had trouble keeping up. The most famous match was decided over adjusting your grip. I like the product now. Small changes. When Oliver lost to Stieber because he didn't get his head out but had both legs...sure, change the rule there. Those are tweaks. This would fundamentally change College Wrestling. So I really hope they don't start with the step out. And for people who say the stalling is called inconsistently, the step out isn't exactly without it's flaws. Guys drop to their knees and half the time they call them grounded, half the time they call it. Either way, I don't want to see Folkstyle muddied with that. I think it'll lower the caliber of Wrestling. It's hard to finish a single against someone like...say David Carr. I don't want to see a point because you just walk him off the mat. -
This is like the 9th time you've used this Gif... LOL...it's hard to take a 'lil guy who never wrestled seriously when talking about burnout(or real Wrestling for that matter). And I promise you, there's not a Wrestler for whom things turned out how they had planned other than...maybe Cael(though even he had losses). It changes when you're actually the one on the mat, not the one talking about your boys there bud. It's also possible to understand burnout...without actually having dealt with it. I never said I burned out.
-
LOL...are they? Because I know of elite Wrestlers who got burned out, but a Wrestling Dad says it's not a real thing? Hey, I'm pulling for ya bud! Hope you turn it around...
-
Well, that's both awesome...and sucks...you are an Illini fan, right? Imar looked unbeatable...then a Freshmen comes along...until HE gets beat.
-
Imar was on his way to becoming a 4X champ at that point. Joseph's potential legacy took a MASSIVE hit with the loss of that 2020 season. He had a chance to be a 1/1/2/1 and in the discussion for all-time greats. But...it was a helluva match. And I can hate Byers at times(just as I can strongly dislike anyone who's such a homer and calling games against my team) I do respect the passion he brings! That dude is a fun listen...as long as you don't have a dog in the fight.
-
Controversial ending...kinda. It did appear to be a TD to me. But it's more the way they wait to call it until after Gable goes nuts.
-
That seems disconcerting. 93 pct failure rate, punching and kicking recruits. Clearly it's got to weed out the weak, but the guys who fail out would seem to still be among the elite and seemingly could be put to work doing...something more. This makes it sounds like they just kinda discard them, tying them up with menial tasks until their time is up. It's certainly a big risk for Nate. Hope he makes it.
