  1. Ooh...me too! Just been DYING to smell those fingers after the pit check! Side Rant-I just looked up the top 25 Female Cast members of SNL...and Gilda Radner was 22 of 25! Jane Curtin-14th The top 14 are all from like the last 15 years. I used to love going back and watching old SNL(namely because my Mom could do a PERFECT Gilda Radner impression of her doing a Rosane Roseannadanna). Blasphemy!
  2. I think you're confusing GIF and PITH... Understandable!
  3. Sasso doesn't seem like he'd do as well at '57. He's not that big of a '49, is he? I'd think he'd want to stay right where he is. Should be the favorite in the B1G again...as opposed to having to Wrestle Haines(who I think still has a steep learning curve). I guess it's Gomez vs Haines as far as the most likely contender. I really hope Brayton Lee who I believe has a year left...irrespective of what I think of Gophers, I'm rooting for that kid. And Gallagher is going to be a good measuring stick for Ryan and that program to see how they can develop Wrestlers. He's a stud, top recruit. He should make some noice next year. I'm also not sure about Geog. Are you just higher on him? Is that the reason behind the extra 2 Gs? Like Tony the Tiger, you think he's GGGREAT? This OSU team, if they can just develop, stay healthy...they're gonna be a problem. By the way, how big is Feldman? I watched him Wrestle Mullens, but it was tough to gauge if he's more...Stephen Neal sized or Kyle Snyder(I suspect closer to 6'2-ish, but looking for confirmation).
  4. Now I'm picturing more...so...that was just cruel!
  5. Ok...that one actually got me a bit! Not quite coffee through the nose, but a good cough right as I was drinking it! For some reason, you now have a full neck beard and you're a...well fed man in my minds eye! I was thinking more along the lines of;
  6. Why Yianni in particular? Throw him into Penn State's lineup, he's got the NLWC to help him with his international goals and...DAMN, that lineup looks that much nastier with him in there. 6 NCs last year, 3 this year(maybe he even makes Haines one given the lack of talent around Haines in the room). I mean, a degree from Cornell is objectively more valuable...not to take a shot at PSU, it just is. I am glad though. As much as I appreciate and respect Penn State, things seem like they're getting a little out of hand. Iowa dominated...but it seems like they had more teams who were at least nipping at their heels more often. With the Gibson brothers and almost certainly the Bassett brothers(plus there's ANOTHER Cousin by another name who's a stud)...I'd like to see a little more competitive balance. ---My deepest apologies beforehand for bringing this up, but as an example, I turned on ESPN and they were talking about how the Women's CBB Tourney was getting higher ratings. One of the reasons, the main one offered actually, was because unlike the past when it was ALMOST always Tennessee and then UConn, you're seeing #9 seeds knock off #1 seeds. The team title isn't determined before you get there. If for no other reason, I hope Iowa and OSU and their recent recruiting classes really hit so that MAYBE they've got a shot at knocking PSU down...though on a team where you're talking about how do you make room for a Freshmen like Facundo and it looks like Penn State is really reinforcing their lightweights, it's gonna take a whole lot from the respectives 'Eyes.
  7. Eh...swap this out for a 25 year old in a Catholic School uniform and we're back on track!
  8. Ok, they running today? Or is this in 12 months after Parris gets done dominating as an Edge for the Maize and Blue and he's getting ready to run a 40 for the combine? Because they can shave a couple tenths off that time. His 4.76 could become a 4.56 real easily! Luke Van Ness, 6'5 275 LB from Iowa, played a 5 tech and played OLBer, I'm pretty sure he just ran a 4.58 or something. I could see Parris doing that. Parris is the type of guy you use a 7th round pick on...if you have 4-5(as my team generally does). I could see him wrecking OTs with those hands and that speed...plus, I'm guessing he can bend off that edge. Kerkvliet was my favorite to go from Wrestling to Football(hypothetically)...but my God...just listening to him in his post-match interview after the Semis, Bobby Boucher makes him look like a genius.
  9. No, it's all good...and it's all kinda moot as we agree on the larger points. I'm just trying to get clarification as it's a unique situation we're talking about here. There are things I learned a bit when I did a little reffing ...it's been a long time, that I don't remember exactly. For example for exposure, it starts ~half way up the back, right? And I am a little confused about the NF only coming into play if you're elbows or shoulders are on the mat(or...presumably bridging). Usually you just know it when you see it. The last time I saw a situation involving NF that I didn't really understand was the Vito-Glory scramble. I thought Vito was scoring(and I think he did as well) and then when the ref awards points to Glory, Vito starts scrambling to try and get out and gives up the position. Just kinda looking for clarification.
  10. I can, but that also seems like it'd be NF from the back. If you're on your elbows...it's tough to see how you wouldn't be at 45. The middle part of the back. It's not like it's the top of the shoulder blades that count as NF(as seems to often be the criteria in JHS or JV), so if you're on your elbows, seems like you'd normally be at 45. But again, how about a title where you've got the far arm and the top Wrestler is loaded up on the other Wrestler? Lee's done this numerous times(almost thought he was gonna get a couple falls on it). His head isn't necessarily touching either. I guess I'm just a bit thrown when you say you ONLY look for 45 when one shoulder or scapula is on the mat. That seems...wrong to me. I'm not arguing or saying it is, just trying to understand. It'd be a really rare situation, but the tilt is the best example I can think of. Basically, picture it like a trapped arm in Greco(almost). Remember when you used to get the extra point for holding them there for...2 seconds IIRC, maybe it was 3.
  11. Yeah, that was a strange match though. Marsteller basically made two attempts there. That early arm spin. Then Starocci came back and attacked for the next minute and was somehow put on the clock when it seemed like it should have been Marsteller. There was also that clear step out when Starocci was in deep on a shot that should have been called...IMO. Plus, it's not like Marsteller is some scrub, but he hung on with 2 attempts for dear life. I wouldn't put him above either of those two just yet, but he'll be two years removed(and likewise, they'll be two more years older, beat up by then). I think Dake posses a bigger threat than Burroughs. Starocci is going to have the size advantage on JB by quite a bit. Though Dake is a big 74KG and CS shouldn't have much of an edge on him. Especially after he cuts another 11 pounds.
  12. I almost want to vote for Vito just for what he did in the Semi's and Finals...but it should be Parris. Even if Kerkvliet wrestled with all the urgency of a trust fund kid looking for a job...
  13. Yeah, but you're saying 45 degrees ONLY applies in those situations. I think it's just giving examples. It's always 45 degrees. I'm saying when would it NOT be 45 degrees? This is what I'm questioning. You're saying it ONLY applies, it's saying it CAN apply in these situations. As for Yianni...I'm not even sure he could have bridged there. He was all the way on top of Murin. But again, I think if you were to call that one by the letter, Murin probably had a defensive fall. Yiannis grabs his head, then he's kinda looking to see if there NF being counted(I think he's getting nervous at this point) and then he rolls through).
  14. I get where it's coming from. I'm just saying that having a concussion this year doesn't necessarily mean he has "concussion problems." If the Navy is going to make an investment in you, they want to make sure they're not making an investment into someone who...without sounding cruel, but could break down. So I don't doubt any of the story that he got a concussion, Navy said another and he couldn't wrestle. I'm just not sure that means he's got any more of an issue with concussions than any of us who've gotten concussions.
  15. So if you're on a tilt and you have a guy loaded up, you only need to get 70 pct? Yeah, I get it's not an exact science, but what's it actually say in the rule book?
  16. A couple of massive upsets and it was a down year...in the finals. Just last year you had 8 of 10 and at least 1 of those runner ups was from the B1G. I'm guessing there have been other years where there have been "just" 3 NCs from the B1G.
  17. No...what should happen is the last guy who's foot stepped out of bounds to tie the match, he should just be declared the winner Yeah, yeah...Gif, rooting for you...rinse and repeat....
  18. No need after this line. Dropped the cherry PERFECTLY on top...
  19. All fair enough, it's just funny saying that about a Blair Kid. Probably had as much mat time as anyone his age. But I did take the point, he took a little while to kinda catch his stride.
  20. The Navy(and AF) are also excessively paranoid(probably a poor choice of words...maybe vigilant would be better?) about previous health issues. I know a Wrestler who had asthma when he was a kid. CLEARLY didn't have it when he grew up. Prolonged his admission by about 2 months, Air Force turned him down on that alone. I don't remember what he had to do to get past it, but he was Wrestling in the State Tournament, going into OT, beating guys(ending up Wrestling at Navy). Hadn't used an inhaler I guess since he was 5-6. So did Nate have a concussion and the Navy gave him this warning(most likely that if he got another one he MAY not be able to join) or did it actually have anything to do with the number of severity of the concussions? I don't say this in a heartless way, but if you're going to become a Seal, the Navy is investing a LOT of money into you. They don't want to do that if you're potentially more inclined to have concussion issues or issues of any kind.
  21. Exactly. Athletes for years talked about how schools were making money off of their name and they weren't benefitting. Well...now they are and they can at least let you know if they're injured or not. Again, not a hill I'd die on, but...he's also a 24 year old athlete. Chael kept calling him a "boy." He's not. He' a man.
  22. Get a 27 year old former Navy Seal...break Charlie Jones record and probably win 4 NCs. T&T are playing the long game. That's a 4X Champ. What type of stress is a National Tournament if you're a Navy Seal? I'm only about 10% serious...
  23. Eh, maybe there's some cabbage fields or something. Who knows. I was taking it as more of a UNC, but if you're just talking in the area, probably a lot of things that can stink up a region pretty good.
  24. Wait...I don't get this. You have to be at 45 degrees to get NF no matter how high off the mat someone is...no? 90 for danger and 45 for NF(again, not always exactly observed...kinda like a pin that's supposed to be 1 second, but is usually closer to a touch fall).
  25. Is that literal? Like you think the area actually smells bad? I was there once and I don't recall that. I do recall it went from pretty flat to Mountains in a very short time, but not an odor.
