...if you beat the guy who won the Gold at your weight the last time 'round...also from Penn State!
-
Eh...not really. He just had Sadulev come into his weight class. He lost to him before the NLWC, he lost to him after... And then he lost to Taz and I remain convinced he can turn that one around, but we'll see. But it's pretty damn hard to say he's regressed when he's lost to like two guys and one of them, you could argue, is the best ever in Freestyle.

Bo Bassett Narrows His College List..........From 80 to 73
scourge165 replied to RandolphTJones's topic in College Wrestling
Ooh...and Wisconsin and Oregon State juuust missing out. He'd BETTER not commit and then do the Kervliet shit after that. Not after all this build-up! -
So...who wins, a Dake Coached Iowa team or a Taylor coached OSU team? Screw it Jimmy, I'm taking over...

RBY needs to go up a weight? Or hang it up?
scourge165 replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in International Wrestling
I think he needs to go to an entirely new forum. He just looks...bad in a Wrestling Forum. I think a Baseball forum may suit his particular style of posting better. Or...maybe a fake Wrestling forum. I think his fantastical "who'd win, the Rock or the Hulk," style of posts would be wildly popular there. I'm even thinking he could get an endorsement by said forum(I'll say anything to get him off here). -
That's great that she's interested. Maybe take less joy in him being "humiliated," and "storming off," and more in her just...enjoying possibly getting into the sport with other Wrestlers. Look for clubs in the area. There's a lot of girls wrestling. It's kinda exploding at the moment.

It doesn't take much if you have your arm in that...head pinch to just kinda straighten it and you're blocking off the leg. Up 4 there, if he thought Rau was gonna score, makes sense. I didn't see it, but I wasn't looking for it. Makes sense though.
-
I saw the hand on the hip, but I thought you had to actually use it or...gain an advantage, that incidental contact wasn't a foul. Is that not the case, just getting him to touch it is enough or do you think he blocked off on the hip? (This sport is the same I wrestled ~20 years ago and so different).
-
Yeah, I'm not a fan, but I respect these guys. I am...totally at a loss as for why he was put down(I understand Spladle's explanation, it just doesn't match what I saw)...and even more confused why Rau got 2 there. He didn't expose or anything. He came around with a...head pinch, kind or front head and he looked like he was trying to throw him, but he just brought him up and then came down to his rear. An explanation would be appreciated. There were still clinches when I was wrestling Greco!
-
I know! Just...complaining...
-
BS call...he was the one creating the action...I thought.
-
I...don't get why Rau got the passivity there or put down...but that's 1 and 4....

No, it's not a question or a debate. THOUGH...it is cool to go back and look at some of the other greats. Korbut is a more or again, Comăneci were also incredible. This is...amazing. Illegal due to the danger, but amazing. This was revolutionary. It'd been more about just ballet-themed...uh...I guess posses on the bars. You could move the bars back then so it was easier to go back and forth and you'd actually be on both at one time showing off your balance(I'm hardly an expert, just learned some of this against my will when I was younger, LOL)...but this was wild. Similar to what Biles has done with all the moves SHE has created, but Korbut changed the sport here. (Here is a better explanation of the differences and why it was banned and...a lot of shit I just don't know/didn't articulate well).
-
Well...that you don't know her name is a good starting point. That Biles has I believe 5...things named after her. What makes Jordan the better Basketball player than Russell despite Russell having more rings? The consensus. That's what. Biles does things no other Gymnast in the world has ever accomplished. Latynina isn't and hasn't been considered the greatest. Korbut or Comăneci have stronger arguments, but...pretty much all common sense. Competing in an era in which there were VERY few women competing in Gymnastics in the 50s vs the modern day is another determining factor, how long Biles has been the best in the world, the World Championships. It's kinda like comparing an Olympic Wrestler from the 1930s to Sadulaev.

N Korea vs India WFS 68kg - intentional injury
scourge165 replied to Dark Energy's topic in International Wrestling
But this is again, very different. It's the motion. It's when there's pressure in and you try and throw it by and you're turning your hips and trying and step behind and chase. In the match with the injury, the arm is trapped, there's not an attempt to throw it by or step around. It just looks like they get the overhook, the arm pinned in and they're coming up on that overhook. I admit, I slowed each down to about half speed as it's not easy to see in real-time, but it seems more obvious that way. -
Would a Brooks Yazdani match be extra spicy?
scourge165 replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in International Wrestling
I mean... there are not many religious fanatics who AREN'T over the top...and this sport is kinda full of religious fanatics. I just struggle to get too worked up about it anymore. I thought and still think it was kinda stupid. Just totally unnecessary, but Muslims say and think the same shit, just flipped. -

I do like the overall ideology of 'don't ascribe malice to what could just as easily be incompetence,'(which I'm pretty sure isn't the actual quote, but close enough) I just don't think that's the case here. Down 8-2 and she's not turning or trying to throw it by, just looks like she's cranking on it. But I'd be nice if it was "just" incompetence. -

scourge165 replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in International Wrestling
I can't believe Jimmy's schtick is still working. Yeah...Brooks didn't need to add that. I don't think THAT is the worst thing that's been done between Christians and Muslims in the name of Religion. It'd be nice if it were. If that was the worst things got or as far as we took it. 'Err...you said something I don't like about the Prophet...now I'm...really going to try and win an Olympic Gold.' -

scourge165 replied to Dark Energy's topic in International Wrestling
I don't think it's that hard to see the difference. If you slow both down, it's pretty clear. Trying to throw it by vs getting that...overhook and trapping that elbow and bending it. She's not even trying to throw it by. Oh well...that's over, but it's really not a move or a technique. -

And what exactly is this "move?" -
Yeah, it'd be incredibly interesting despite the absurdity of it(or because of)...but we'd all definitely be tuned in. I think you'd have a LOT more people hopping on the PSU bandwagon...at least for that match.

I'm pretty calm. If anything, a bit amused. -
If Yazdani wins, where does he stack up with Taylor...
scourge165 replied to Hammerlock3's topic in International Wrestling
I think he's got a better chance at beating Tazhudinov than Sadulaev. I know he was out of his mind at worlds last year, but Snyder just kept getting rolled through on his shots. I think if he just Wrestles a bit more conservatively, tries to grind him down... Or maybe I'm wrong and he'll affirm his WC with an OC. But, I like Snyder's chances. -

scourge165 replied to Hammerlock3's topic in International Wrestling
I'm really curious to see how Brooks does. I don't see him getting pushed around on the Underhook. That's a strong position for him, for DT and he shut that down(I know it's Yazdani's strength moreso than Taylor's obviously)...but I think he could match up pretty well. I like Lee, Dake, Brooks and Snyder's chances. I think this could be the most successful Olympics since...'84. Snyder needs to wrestle much smarter and more controlled on his shots and try and grind that kid down. I don't really know where Zain finishes up(maybe with a medal...I'm not very well versed on that weight). And Parris, I could see him surprising a bit as well. Not Gold, but a medal?
