  1. I didn't actually, but I don't recall everyone saying '65 was a gimme to Mizzou last year.
  2. Yes...that team could absolutely win a NC. That team *could* have 5 NCs. I'd perhaps look for a '25...I'm not sure how good Stratley is yet. I know he's good...but if you're talking about knocking off PSU and TOOSU...might need more there. (FYI, with this Taylor news, Ohio State will henceforth be referred to as TOOSU or the other OSU, either or).
  3. I doubt that's the direction he's going to go. I think people are thinking more along the lines of...PJ Duke or young HS studs that can develop and help Okie St actually contend year in and year out. I'd bet money that HE wanted assurances(aside from his salary which...I'm sure will be the highest in the NCAA) that they'd fund the RTC, they'd provide money so he can have a Casey Cunningham type #1, and a well-paid staff and just money for the infrastructure so he can rebuilt the program and take them back to where they were just 20 years ago.
  4. LMFAO...wow. I said I didn't think Dake would be a great face of the program...he just feels a little too...Aaron Rodgers-ey to me(ignore the political stuff, I'm talking about the other stuff)...but just the weird about some stuff. But, hard to argue with either...when it comes to their respective success in their sport. Though, Rodgers did say he thought psychedelic shrooms strengthened tendon, and he got a little lax on his intake before last NFL season. *Again, NOT vaccine or politically related!!! I want that to be clear. Not a hill I'm even climbing, much less fighting on!
  5. And yet they just set the record for points. They're stronger than ever and they're recruiting at a higher level than ever. They're also spending 2X as much as anyone else. Askren has repeatedly stated his desire to coach AWA. The Badgers AD has been pretty clear about steering away. I don't know that JB, Snyder or Dake want to get into Collegiate Head Coaching. tOSU is in the strongest position now...and PSU is still SO much deeper. They have to find a way to get the #1 overall recruit from his class and one of the two Freshmen who took 3rd at '49 into the lineup. In addition to that, the #1 seed at '25 is likely going to lose his spot next year. No they didn't. They absolutely didn't HAVE to. Mesenbrink, Nagao, Truax, they CHOOSE to go there and they didn't need any of the three to win. Without them you Barclaough at '57 and Facundo at '65. Not exactly chopped liver. The portal ALLOWED them to RS guys who were ready to go like Barr, and at '33 it's not like they scored a whole lot of points anyway. What are you basing your Cunningham guess on? Just...that's when his kid will be 4 years into College? That's it? Still not something either side wants. So David Taylor stays at PSU in your scenario, but it's still gong to help tOSU? If you were talking about in the next 2-3 years, maybe you'd have a point. Still think you'd be wrong, but it'd make sense. Yes. Because you think what Iowa and Michigan have done in any way posed a threat to Penn State. Taylor to Okie State, that will have a significant impact. That wasn't anywhere near your original comment...so...curious how you're taking a victory lap. PSU is still head and shoulders ahead of anyone else. Now, one more school has a chance. When you posted this, there was one school that could reasonably challenge PSU. Now, maybe, in the future, there will be a 2nd. It's also as likely that when Cunningham steps down, Cael does and Taylor goes back to State College.
  6. LOL...that's not real, is it? I'd love to see a list of Dake-isms.
  7. I didn't actually realize he chose not to Wrestle for 3rd...I just wasn't watching closely enough. I think you can make a pretty strong argument he's deserving of getting that match...but maybe in the future it will force people to Wrestle that 3rd place match. Why not? You're there. You get to compete how many times a year? Why would you just sit out a match? I don't get that unless you're banged up. I was also so good I never found myself on the backside. The only man who's more undefeated than Chael! 0 losses at the Olympic Trials, 0 losses at the Olympics, 0 losses in the World Championships... Goddang was I impressive(just don't ask how many wins I had). I'd still give him a Wrestle-off personally(if I could just make my own arbitrary rules based on my opinion), but it's hard to justify it when he didn't go for 3rd.
  8. It really doesn't. I think outside the FB and MBB coach, they all get that 5th year added every year. They did it last year as well...and he wasn't lighting the world on fire then either.
  9. Meaningless. EVERY coach has a 5 year deal. A year from now he's either fired, or they add a year so he has 5 years. But...also, they're unlikely to do anything. It just won't be due to an "extension."
  10. You're just re-wording what I said. Yes, I think people would look at the fact that he lost in both matches to Brooks and then Brooks loses on a technicality and I think it'd carry less weight than his past championships have meant. You can hear it now..."wasn't even the best in the US." I'm not saying people would dismiss it entirely and not count it, but surely it'd be held against him. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Not that I'D hold that opinion, but there are people who nitpick the hell out of everything. There were just posts about how he wrestled in the weakest international weight...not even sure how they came to that conclusion, but they did.
  11. I actually think it'd help him. Easier to recruit if you're coming off another Olympic run...not that he doesn't already have enough sway or name recognition to do very well regardless, but I don't see it being detrimental. He just seemed really happy with where he was...farming near Dake and his Club, still Wrestling with the NLWC. I think people underestimate the impact of picking up and moving and disrupting their entire life, BUT, if he wants to be a HC...you've got 4-5 programs who I think can win a NC. Those jobs don't open up very often. PSU, Iowa, OSUx2, Minnesota...probably ISU. Ohio State may be more likely. Ryan is a bit older and DT would be back home.
  12. Yeah...he lost and then still got the spot on a technicality. I think that would impact how people view THIS particular cycle.
  13. Minnesota seems like a really good place for him. You don't screw with any of the top recruits and you get a 1 year fit who's very likely going to finish top 4 with the very real potential to win it. I'd take Kerkvliet, but the PSU room isn't the only place people get better. Heavyweight U...and it'd be great for Hopke. Someone to kick his ass everyday and hopefully he can step in for the '25-'26 season at about 250 after adding ~15LBs of Muscle and...start to contend for NCs.
  14. I'm not either...but I am familar on bullshit and that's why I generally try and avoid Mineo or Downy on Twitter... If they end up being right, lets talk then. Their speculation doesn't seem to really justify it, it just casts doubt on Brooks at best.
  15. I don't know if you're asking seriously or rhetorically, but I don't know.
  16. I thought the adderall was grandfathered in...that someone Brooks age wouldn't be allowed to be taking it. That was my understanding from people calling Simone Billes a "cheat," during the last Olympics...among other things. That she had her exemption going back to when she was first able to compete and....well, yeah, that was it, she was grandfathered into the exemptions, but anyone who didn't already have one was kinda out of luck. Apparently that's not the case? You are still allowed to take it? And if it's a filling error, that'd be the dumbest possible reason to disqualify someone...but they are rather anal about that. I was kinda torn on who I wanted to see at that weight, but in the end, it was probably the guy on the incredible run and I wanted to see him finish up his career with another Oly Title and maybe a WC or 2, but at this point, it'd just case a shadow over whatever DT would do from here on out.
  17. Ok...but I was replying to the person who did say that...that's the point.
  18. Ok...all of that is fine. I happen to agree with him, we should raise it up a bit, there's too big of a gap, but whatever, you can disagree. What he absolutely did not do was advocate to eliminate a weight or eliminate THAT weight altogether. There are very few adults who can safely cut to 125. It'd be outstanding if we could advocate going back to the 10 weights and just keep them as the WC weights... Either way, pandering or not, what Pyles said was grossly misrepresented.
  19. Yeah, you're just full of shit and I don't understand what you're driving at here. 1-You did NOT say "risk free," until after; "Real rate of 5%? Where do you get that today?" Where does that say, "where do you a real rate of 5% with zero risk guaranteed?" And I suspected you didn't because it's a stupid question. 2-Inflation has averaged 1990-1999-3.08% 2000-2009-2.54% 2010-2019-1.78 Over the last 120 YEARS with massive inflation in the past and without properly addressing it, the average(primarily driven by two decades) is 3%. I don't get why you want to play these stupid games. I've given you the average rate of return and for ANY 35 year period, it's AT LEAST 10%. That's a VERY conservative average. But then it had to be about "no risk." THERE IS NO SUCH THING. So I guess don't invest, don't do the shit that normal people do so they can grow their money. Buy gold, bury it under your house and...that's literally the ONLY way you can invest financially with "zero risk." There is no other way. Using common sense, you can invest in the market and if you're in for 35 years, you're going to grow at ~10%. I've covered this and you insist on either playing dumb or...I can't tell, maybe it's being just willfully obtuse. But if YOU can't grow your money at 5% a year, accounting for inflation, I'd absolutely hire a financial advisor and fire whoever you have right now(and it sounds like you'd be firing yourself).
  20. Or maybe he just means that is a hollow and silly way to build a career and a legacy and that fixating on Dan Gable is probably NOT what Cael Sanderson is doing. Gable Wrestled in the 60s. He's been done for 25 years. I really struggle to believe that people think Cael is obsessed with the idea of just one-upping Gable. That seems more like something Gable would do. Cael just seems like he loves what he does and he wants to win, but...as he's repeatedly said, "it's a GAME." That should highlight the difference in the two right there. Never got the "it's just a game...a really funny game...one of my favorite games, probably my favorite game, but it's a game and at the end of the day, you have to have fun or what's the point." Or is everyone being sarcastic and I'm missing it?
  21. Wisconsin... It's the same room it has been for 50 years probably, but it's got great natural light. It was absolutely unbearably hot in the summer. I remember a heat wave with temps up to ~100, black mats, the sun beating in. Room was ~120 or so. I went from ~165 to about ~141 and...as I'm saying that, I'm realizing how PERFECT that would have been for John Smith!
  22. I assume you're kidding... This seems antithetical to everything I've ever heard or known about Cael Sanderson. His whole career is about a competitive nature and a desire to win and be great. I don't think he's got a picture of Gable hanging up and saying, "just need to do one more than him." Cael leaves right now and he's the most success Wrestlers in College Wrestling History and I think the most highly regarded coach...and it's probably not close. I'd be disappointed if I learned he was counting NCs trying to pass Gable.
  23. Maybe, but if you want to actually try to unseat PSU, going after Taylor is the obvious move. I wonder if there's been ANY talk about Cael stepping down. Just ANY at all or if he's even thinking about a timeline or if he wants to just dominate for another 15 years. DT would be an obvious coach in waiting...but Cael is also still young.
  24. I'm pretty sure he simply said that they should make the weight 58 kg or 59 kg, not just eliminate a weight class(a pretty valid argument IMO). And the guys who are cutting to 57 are...usually malnourished. Vito should be a guy who's competing for an Olympic Title and he doesn't have a weight class. He's going to have to go up(I believe).
