With many good Schools having quit on their wrestling programs - which are/were the top of the heap? Looking at BYU - remember when they were the first program other than Oklahoma to beat Oklahoma State AT OSU in their home gym. Generally ranked high - at least under Fred Davis as head coach - and produced some good wrestlers. What are the others you guys see as top programs we have lost?

We know the records Cael Sanderson is making at Penn State. A few years as an Assistant, a couple at ISU to get his feet wet and then Penn State and the stratospheric levels the program has achieved. What are the top coaches in other Collegiate sports? What kind of records are they putting in the books? How do they compare to Cael & Co?

Lets take all active Coaches and put them on the mat for a tournament. Head & assistant coaches all qualify for this one. Who ends up winning it all? Not necessarily adhering to weight classes - more an open competition? Maybe two classes IF we break it up? Lighter to middle weights and upper weights? Think Cael comes out on top? Or is a current assistant just past competition taking the title? Ed Ruth, maybe?

Didn't the State of Washington Legislature pass a law that Univerity of Washington and Washington State both had to be together if a new conference deal was made? Anyone know for sure? If so, what happens to this move?

Coach Tom Brands (Squawkeye Wrestling) : I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not. These indivisuals have made a choice to work, a choice to sacrifice, to collect every possible NIL dollar(and even pennies) to put themselves on the line in the room, get beat to hell, go out for months and wrestle with the sure knowledge Penn State will once again beat them when it is all on hte line. This kind of commitment and effort deserves and demands close examination by Mental Health Professionals to figure out why we can't get it done.(and don't mention Spencer Lee or that Dan Gable never wrestled as a Squawkeye even though both lost their final College match) I am sure once you see this commitment you will wonder why more Squawkeye wrestlers aren't committed for Psychiatric evaluation and long term mental health study subjects."

What, you don't know how to drive? March in North Dakota with a Spring blizzard - people will pack the arena. Even bring sleeping bags so they don't have to leave between sessions. When they do leave they can go to the museum and see the Wood Chipper from the movie FARGO. it is even signed by BOTH of the Coen Brothers. NO place else can match that!

Just look at that Hat and that Mat. Squawkeyes don't have anything that even comes close. Dan Gable never wrestled for Iowa and he won't be coaching Gable Steveson - the Double Trouble Munchkins will try it and we know what they did to Spencer Lee. So - Fighting Camels, here he comes to blaze his own trail.

Why not FARGO? Be like homecoming for a lot of the wrestlers as they rekindle their HS summers.

Asked after they were visiting. Good wrestlers in HS and right into the military. Now in top units and being offered schooling at Uncle Sams dime as it is related to their MOS and current/future prospects while on active duty. They wrestle wherever they have been stationed and have done well against some good competition and have always wondered "what did I miss". D1 would be a challenge. The schools with academic programs they are looking at have wrestling programs as well, so they are wondering. At the same time don't want to approach coaches at various schools. Do the distance learning/college credits while serving count towards eligibility? Anyone know? None of it was on campus but now the chance to spend a few years pursuing degrees - all paid for - has them wondering about trying the Collegiate mats for real.

Who was the Russian wrestler that also went unscored on during those Olympic Games?

Can only hope John Smith can get the program going again and get over loooking disgusted by the kids on the mat during competition.

Looking at friends serving in the military. As they are on active duty they can take courses for College Credit. Then the military will pay their way to some Schools to pursue a degree and some advanced degrees. How do the distance learning courses figure into Collegiate eligibility? As in a serving member is taking and completing a distance learning College course while serving active duty in a foreign country or combat zone. Some of them would like to participate in Sports at a University if it is possible, given they are still on active service. Might mean a year or more of school - on campus, interrupted at times by TDY assignments and then back to school for a bit until they get to the Degree sought. How does the NCAA handle this?
