The Coach being Cael. A Wrestler who is setting records every time he steps on the mat. Then, some troubling allegations & apparently a law enforcement investigation becomes part of the scene. Maybe he has reports of activity that can bounce this guy off the team, maybe out of school & even into prison? Cael is one who plays it close. Keeps things quiet. We know he is honorable & supports his guys. Talk to the wrestler? Most probably. Maybe gets assurances the story(ies?) are not accurate, maybe just rumors? You want to believe your guy. You have a level of trust built up over a number of years. So, talk to him, set boundaries more firmly & want to believe it is jealousy or somewhat that is fueling the story. No police action is taken, just rumors? Six months and your wrestler isn't even interviewed by Law Enforcement - what do you think? Not a High Priority? At Penn State? Where Sandusky/Paterno is the living Nightmare that won't leave? My guess - (only a guess, maybe a hope) is that Cael got reports & talked to Starocci & got assurances from him. Then, when nothing happens on the legal front, lets it ride? Very different from J Robinson, who actively protected his guys from a system that would have had life long negative consequences - and paid dearly for it. Is Cael too trusting? Is he blind, maybe willfully ignoring reality? Do his Assistants/Co Head Coaches figure prominently into this as well? Will we get the facts, or not?

Is it possible Carter was "hiding" the stuff, playing a prank? That the women involved gave conflicting signals or later decide something happened? We won't know reality with this.

The only hope is MUDFLAP - but seeing as he is locked up in Solitary in prison somewhere...

Mormon Apostle Heber Kimball said “I think no more of taking another wife than I do of buying a cow”. Though not actively practicing polygamy, it is still a core doctrine & "The order of Heaven" - with God & Jesus both being polygamists. On the other hand, maybe Cael & Co aren't sure what to do & the University offers no guidance - in spite of the legacy of Paterno & Sandusky? Taking some stuff & "hiding it"? Maybe a prank? "They will work it out between them" attitude here? Easy to see Cael with his beliefs thinking the women are exaggerating what happened. Just seeing them with sleeveless dresses can be a trigger in this belief system. Mormon Apostle Dallin Oaks spoke of it with this. His group even goes so far as to airbrush sleeves on photos of young girls who are wearing sleeveless shirts or dresses. Young girls grade school age. Cael & Co might be a clueless as Joe Paterno was. As for Bartlett & his wife - they have done GOOD bringing this out, especially as they were apparently all but ignored trying to go through normal channels.

Just hope he recovers.

Before Gary Kurdelmeier and Dan Gable Iowa was second banana in the State. Had never won an NCAA title. Following Gable was tough. He had the touch & brought out the best in his wrestlers. Cael has it, most don't. Some are close. We'll see about Taylor. Tom is producing a good product, just not Good Enough to meet expectations. Still a good coach, just not getting the results expected. Do you get rid of the guy who consistently has you in the top echelon? You are vying for second place most years - along with a few other programs - though you are usually a bit above them. "Iowa Style" - is it holding them back? Can the Terrible Twins break out & actually challenge Penn State on a yearly basis? Oklahoma State is in the conversation but won't be more than that for a few years, if ever. Great Recruiting does not guarantee great results. New Coach, new expectations, new excitement - it wears off in the face of reality. OSU did not beat Iowa in the dual this past season. Maybe this year? Should be an interesting season.

One, starting school. The other, problems with advancement in their Church. The one starting school came up against an administrator who held fast to the "mandatory" birth date to start school. Twins born minutes apart around Midnight. Before midnight - just made the cutoff to start school. After midnight, one day later & missed the cutoff so started that grade a year after his brother.(identical twins) Parents did not have the money to hire an attorney & the administrator would not bend at all. Caused problems that plagued the kids for a long time. The other, a church rule. Birth right at midnight, New Years Eve/New Years day. Again, roulette with the Bishop of their church - another rule bound type. Kid born just before midnight was "a year older" on paper so was ordained a Deacon in his church the year he turned 11. His identical twin brother was not ordained a deacon until the next year - the year he turned 11. He did have the distinction of being "first baby of the New Year" where it happened so the family got a ton of presents & such for him - and just the bills for the first son. We know at times the kid has no say of parents are adament about holding a kid out/or back for a year. Then comes medical reasons for some. Or Home Schooling & transition to regular school & the kid tests far behind for the indicated year & is now older than his classmates. We live with what happens & it is not always good for the kids. When in High School we had a wrestler who was way more mature. Very good wrestler. Was disqualified when protests were made & investigation placed him at 23 years old. Was living in the Indian Dormatories, born on the Reservation and no Birth Certificate available. He was not a big kid - wrestled about 145 or so - but much more mature than everyone else. Once off the team he walked out of the dorms & left. Apparently hitched rides back to The Big Rez - this was 1960's. Just some interesting stuff.

The first account I read had the QB/assistant coach saying he saw what happened in the shower & had to think about it overnight before telling Paterno. Maybe they got it wrong?

Is it possible he got "guaranteed" signing money that vested after a specific time & now that time has passed? If so, he can do the whole show again & make even more money. Does he give refunds to any of those who bought his I Love Iowa gear?

Do you think he would call out Charlize Theron or Elon Musk over something - both "African Americans". Maybe it is just those he feels are having problems that bring public scrutiny that is not positive?

Bet he hopes "God's Plan" is national titles on the mat & not a major brain tumor or cancer or becoming a paraplegic after getting hit by a drunk driver or getting wiped out in a tornado.

If this is intended as a backhanded swipe at some of us, you are not credible. Not perfect here. But, have lost a number of jobs from stepping in to stop egregious behavior. Also have awards from Law Enforcement(including FBI) for stepping in and stopping some illegal activity at times & physically dropping some in commission of crimes. When younger, probably would not do it. Later High School, University, Military - to hell with them & go for it. WHY the chickenshiz Football QB on Paternos staff did not step into the shower and beat hell ouf of Sandusky is beyond me. He went home, thought about it & "let joe know". Shock & surprise may be understandable, but inaction on following up after reporting rapes and such - inexcusable. Attorneys need to get involved and go after leadership at the Universities at every level. Administration understands Dollars paid out, not much else. As for the Catholic fiasco, watch the movie SPOTLIGHT, it is pretty accurate as to how this came to light.
