Potato, tomato, mate. Arnold does not wrestle anyone tough to less than a takedown. That means Walker will be in the match. That means I am not going to be surprised if my homeboy goes and takes it. I think 133 is a true toss-up, I think. Steveson has tried to punk Coon a few times prior to the Parris era.

I think the idea is to Redshirt him, although if weight is an issue (for Gilcher), I wouldn't be surprised to see him give 149lbs a go instead of Gilcher. Michigan is of the mind that the best guy is taking the mat, whether they are incoming transfers or not.
-
I think Gilcher needs to go 157lbs. I think 149 was too much to ask of him and I think it is going to be too much to ask of him this year, too. I expect greatness from him, I just wouldn't be surprised with a 20W - 15L type season, though.

Arnold and Walker both wrestled Wolak tough, and with Walker supposedly healthy now I don't think that is a NEHVUR at all. Arnold doesn't know how to score more than 4 points in a tight match. Saldate was the only one to beat Haines last year (yep). So long as the match doesn't happen at NCAAs I think this is a pure toss-up. Bullock over Brands is surprising? Brands had one tournament of his life at 174lbs two years ago. Bullock was pretty persistent last year at 184lbs and cemented himself as a legit AA contender for this year. I would honestly say Ragusin over Ayala is as surprising as Bullock over Brands. Both Michigan gents should be favored as they are the larger guys who are used to the weight. Steveson was the punch line, which is why I said it. I don't think there is a fart's chance in a shit storm we see him at UofM if he decides wrestling is where it is at again. With both Parris and Coon there I am not sure it is realistic to think they'll put their differences aside so Steveson can ride off in to the sunset for the third (fourth) time?

Is he or is Pindrickson going 197lbs, then?

I have one for you that is a homer pick... 125 - Wertanen over Cruz via Decision UofM 3 - 0 133 - Ragusin over Ayala via Decision UofM 6 - 0 141 - Lemley over Peterson via Major UofM 10 - 0 149 - Parco over Gilcher via Decision UofM 10 - 3 157 - Saldate over Teemer via Decision UofM 13 - 3 165 - Mantanona over Caliendo via Decision UofM 16 - 3 174 - Walker over Arnold via Decision UofM 19 - 3 184 - Bullock over Brands via Decision UofM 22 - 3 197 - Cardenas over Buchanan via Decision UofM 25 - 3 285 - Steveson over Kueter via Techfall UofM 30 - 3 Collectively it is batshit to believe this would happen. It isn't batshit to think that it could, though. Not one of those results, if you look at it individually, makes you go "NEH VUR" and there isn't one result that makes you think they would have to wrestle out of their mind to achieve.

Kerk pulled a bonus on him last year.

Just be happy I didn't have Davis pulling a YEETYEET on Ayala at 133, Mr. Turdbiscuit Supremo. Homer my ass. Sell your trash elsewhere.

I was really hoping we would se him at WTT.

As well as Mora.

If they end up heading to the same place, that would be badass. Rhodes will be a serviceable starter, even a contender in the MAC or SOCON. The same can likely be said for Bradley.
-
Glazier would likely (easily) start for them at 197lbs. The Siebrechts would likely need to head to a different weight to start, unless the SDSU incumbents 'decide' to head to a different weight (school)? Swensen has been 157lbs his entire career, whereas Siebrencht went up from 149lbs the year before his suspension (two seasons ago). If Cade intends to start, he will have to supplant Alek Martin. Martin is clearly better right now. Another option is both drop in weight, with Cade going 141lbs. A much easier path, where the scale is his biggest opponent, and Cobe going 149lbs... which would be with the intent of replacing Martin then. Cobe is probably the better wrestler at 149 or 157, so he likely gets choice. So Swensen to 165lbs, then? Cade hasn't had his shot, yet, but has been in the room, so he could be right there with Cobe as far as skill and aptitude goes.

An interesting note to this is that LRA returns their starter at 149lbs from last year as well as another incoming transfer (from Northern Illinois) in Jaivon Jones. All three likely thought they would have a starting spot this year, so there will be competition for this spot. Jaivon is a senior and really came on towards the end of the season with some very tight matches against NQ/AA. I imagine they try to make a spot for him, with him dropping to 141lbs, or perhaps having the Bianchi boys each go up in weight (165/174 rather than 157/165, which is already 2/3 weight classes above where they started out in LRA) and having either Jones or Williams go 157lbs.

Greco is the most popular international style

I thought getting far too intoxicated was the first step, following by a deep consumption of eleven to twelve pounds of well marbled Delmonico? -
He was active until 2020 U23s. He has basically been banged up since.
-
Teemer was then pulled out. Buchanan was a few years ago, so... Pewpew... Will Smith Movie-esque.

Did you check the old TheMat forums? Your other postulations hold merit, though. -

Someone did a few years ago and I believe we were all rather shocked that it was ~30%+ more popular than MFS internationally. -

This discussion happens at least a few times a year, it seems. It is difficult for our US gents to comprehend that MFS is not as popular worldwide. Someone even gathered data from most UWW events as well as Russian age level nationals over a few year span in one and once you go down the other UWW events that take place not only in Europe but Asia as well, the disparity between the two gets worse. MGR is far superior worldwide insofar as popularity. It was even broken down to not include 'local' athletes (meaning no Polish gents if in Poland). You have to consider that to go to Poland, even if from another European country, it isn't exactly cheap. You need hotel(s), transportation, entry fees, etc. So for it to be roughly ~30% or more insofar as entries go, that is saying something. I am of the mind that if we were to transition to MGR and MFS in college it would help both styles tremendously. Have the coinflip dictate who gets choice, like football. In football when you choose to kick or receive, the other guy gets to choose which side. So in wrestling, you can pick whether you start at MGR or MFS, the other guy can choose what weight to start at - or if someone chooses the weight, the other guy can choose MGR or MFS, with the weights alternating. There would be an interesting dynamic for individual tournaments. If a school does one individual tournament (Midlands) they can choose MFS, but if they do a second, they must participate in a MGR one as the second one. -
I think he meant make Travis go down from 157 to 149lbs.
