  1. I think Haines went up because they were both ohysically 157lbers last year and he was actually bigger, so he decided two weights was nothing. Haines frame is much better suited to wrestle 174 than MM.
  2. Did you watch the match? Masoumi was never close to losing or in danger.
  3. And top game. Max Dean beat one of the heaviest favorites of the 2019 NCAAs in Myles Martin because of it, as well.
  4. Did he retire? Otherwise I don't see how or why we would write off the defending Olympic Champion.
  5. He had already lost to Masoumi in the past. This result wasn't a surprise.
  6. I don't know why, in this current state of collegiate wrestling, you would want to take one of the most stable and supported programs and gut the coaching staff. Do you want less wrestling programs? Who would Wyoming get to replace him that is going to be a guaranteed average coach (at worst)? Branch, down the line for every attribute, is at least slightly better than average. There is no area where he isn't average (at worst). Getting rid of him puts the program much closer to the chopping block than he currently is.
  7. I think we have a better chance of seeing him reclassify to this class than to de-commit/re-commit.
  8. I don't think so, but I am not currently competing.
  9. How do my Irani friends here think a potential Parris-Masoumi rematch goes? Does the gap widen, or does Parris actually show some sign(s) of life this time that aren't just reactive, garbage points scored?
  10. Oh! One actual reason might be it is a ranking series event, for 'seeding' purposes. Of which Gomez just might not give two deuces of.
  11. The same thing stopping Micic or Cuba from sending a full team the last several years. Many countries only offer the Olympic weights or will only offer 'coaching support' if they enter in Olympic weights. What that might mean is that 'yes' they can go 61 KG or 70 KG (like Gomez), but they will absolutely need to finance (or have their team) finance their trip. For RBY, it could simply be that he knows 57 KG is his Olympic weight and he knows he needs to get more reps weighing in (or around) 57 KG. Gomez doesn't seem to have issue with making 65 KG and his style allows him to be dangerous at 70 KG, still. Also, 65 KG -> 70 KG is much different than 57 KG -> 61 KG. I know it is actually a lower number difference, but I feel like you see more 65 KG guys up at 70 KG than we do 57 kG guys at 61 KG, which means your opponent's styles will be the same. In summary, to answer your question: I don't have a damned clue.
  12. I think that extra ~4.5lbs has a lot to do with him keeping this close. If Lee was up 6-0 early, it tells me if that match is 125.5lbs rather than 130.1lbs that it ends after that first exchange, or shortly after on a 2nd exchange.
  13. Was that 171 at a national contending/Top 25 school or 171 at a school that might bake their Dvivisional State Tournament Finals once every three years? Those sizes could be very different. A full-sized 150lber from Detroit Catholic High School is going to look two weight classes larger than a full-sized 150lber from New Lothrop High School, for example. Both are prestigious in their own rights and in their own divisions, but one is just on another level (and has been for decades). Weight classes and divisions exist for a reason (in most states).
  14. You know it's valid. He was there for everything for that match, despite being undersized compared to Buchanan and appearing much slower. Now, if Buchanan is able to make the same ground as Barr for their next match, that gap might widen. If he can utilize his size and speed advantage, it might go better for him than if Barr can simply get our five seconds sooner. I don't know. That's why they wrestle the matches.
  15. His focus after States next week is 65 KG for U20, U23, and Seniors. He said that is the perfect weight for him (right now - implied).
  16. I think while chances might not be as good due to Bassett going 149, Blaze going 141, and Forrest going 133 (then 141 later), I do think that we see them all at 65 KG for 2028 OTT. MFS =/= NCAA Folkstyle, but there is smoke there.
  17. Senior Men's Freestle 59 KG (130.1) =/= Collegiate Folkstyle 133lbs (60.3 KG) Not to mention RBY has been dieting and wrestling 57 KG (125.7lbs) since college. He is physically a different wrestler. Case in point - look at Zain at 70 KG (154.3lbs) or 149lbs (67.6 KG( VS Zain at 65 KG. Different animals. Were RBY to go 61 KG on the regular, he would be an absolute nightmare.
  18. Pretty stoked for this. Honestly pretty stoked.
  19. Legit was sad. I want OSU.
  20. It was 1-1 and 4s of riding time decided the dual. Barr does not take that shot if Buchanan doesn't have riding time.
  21. I prefer Mr. Dad or Daddy.
  22. I am just not a fan of his counter heavy style in those types of matches, so I did not pick him.
  23. I expected better from you. That is on me.
  24. So you're also name calling a child as well? Why?
  25. Fair. You never directly said it. You did say it, though. It is absurd to speculate a child is evil, though, when he has given no signs of being evil.
