  1. I’m guessing it’s Brewer-related. All that other stuff was already known so if those were the reasons he probably would have went in the portal sooner.
  2. Whoops, missed that. Ok I don’t think the Harvard coach retiring would qualify as bonkers. Tanelli to Buffalo might if you’re an EIWA guy.
  3. Pyles slipped this in on FRL today when they were talking about the OSU coach search. I know the guy that funded most of it announced he was retiring or something, but I didn’t realize they were folding completely? Was this previously announced? I don’t see much chatter about it on x/twitter or anything on their website (which is actually a pretty good website as far as RTC’s go!), but I do see this which was just posted late last night
  4. Who said bonkers?
  5. He actually had pretty good results this year. Wins over Sotelo, Terukina, Joyce, Kilkeary. Only losses were to Ungar, Miller & Lujan. I also listed him last
  6. I don’t know if they’ll finish 2nd, but Cornell should have a solid squad next year with Shapiro, Ramirez, Foca, Cornella, Fernandez, Ungar, Greg D.
  7. I don’t really disagree with you about Askey, but Smith was pretty much the same guy as last year, just had a better tournament. Prior to this year he had wins over Cronin, McKee, Poulin, Ventresca, etc.
  8. But an assistant leaving Penn wouldn’t start a coaching carousel right? I would be surprised, but not shocked to see Tanelli take one of the open jobs. I’m guessing the Harvard coach is retiring. I would be shocked if Grey went somewhere else. I do agree as I said above that I’d be surprised to see Tanelli to Buffalo. They did fire the coach though which is rare in wrestling, maybe they have some money to throw around?
  9. In order to “start a coaching carousel,” it would have to be a HC leaving right? If that’s the case, slim chance it’s at Cornell, Penn, Princeton, or Brown. My guess would be either Harvard coach to retire (he’s been there 30 years), or Tanelli to Buffalo?
  10. Whoops meant to put on college board, oh well
  11. I don’t personally believe that, but you gotta admit the number of elite athletes/coaches saying this indicates that their belief is helping them. Also gotta give credit to Cael that he’s not outspoken about it, as I do think there could be some legal gray areas if a coach is pushing religion while being employed by a state school (and yes I know PSU is a “public-private partnership” or whatever). I would bet Cael is not actually pushing anything. Dawn Staley on the other hand, I’m not so sure. I know this is a hit piece but it raises some relevant points - https://www.thedailybeast.com/south-carolina-womens-basketball-coach-dawn-staley-might-be-violating-her-players-religious-freedom
  12. Surprised they asked him about his Burroughs comments. Supposedly “guys actually in the wrestling community agreed with him, it was mostly just fans that didn’t”
  13. I like Pyles. But his solo videos are unbearable. But, they are pretty easy to ignore.
  14. Of your list, I think only Pat Pop would really be an upgrade over Scott. Pendleton maybe a wash. But I think they should certainly reach out to Pop if they haven’t already. But we had this discussion when Scott was first hired. He’s probably making a comparable salary, living in a lower COL area, and has more family nearby. And even if he wasn’t promised anything he knew he’d have a shot at taking over. It wouldn’t have been completely crazy for him to take that job without a promise to be the HC. That said, given the initial reporting saying that which was then retracted, I’m guessing he probably was.
  15. Not double knee surgery, but I thought the story was that he was banged up before the season?
  16. So kinda like Spencer Lee then?
  17. Do we think he could have made the cut if he didn’t wrestle the NCAA season? Will there be any blame towards Cornell/Mike Grey for “wasting” him in the NCAA like there was for Tom Brands and Spencer Lee?
  18. I assume Parris making the R12 was not considered “significant points”?
  19. I agree the tiers talk is boring, but there’s not really much to talk about…
  20. He got this injury before the NCAA season right? Also, I wonder if one of he or Yianni switches RTC’s if they’ll both be at 65 for 2028?
  21. Did they ask him if he wanted a demotion first too?
  22. VT not a small school. If we see Stephen Little or Peyten Keller go in the portal then maybe.
  23. But you’re not seeing where Ryan said that?
