  1. WWE requires a push from the company to become relevant for the most part if hes just mowing through people in mma people are going to watch. If its to cheer him on or watch him lose. People want the heel to lose in the WWE but there isn't a real shot they will get hurt or knocked unconscious at least intentionally, there is that element in MMA. Ultimately if he is good at MMA it's going to be hard for him to not turn heads.
  2. He's 24 he could wrestle through 2028 cement his legacy make a good amount of money and then transition to MMA at 28 as a 2x Olympic champ which would immediately make him one of the most marketable guys out there.
  3. Any word on paniro or Yonger being back for Iowa?
  4. Pretty sure people debunked both davis vs nagao and facundo kasak as not happening. However I have no idea had someone aside from minnow reported I would not question it but he's a moron so I have doubts. I don't know why Nagao would be wrestling off if he is med shirting. He also reported that Facundo beat Kasak 8-3 which seems like a crazy margin to me, but he could have gotten a big move.
  5. I'm sure it certainly did not hurt his decision-making process. As much as I am not a PSU fan and want a bit more parody in the sport at the college level, going there was almost certainly the best thing for his international aspirations. I did think training with Mendez every day would be invaluable but perhaps he views him as more of a competitor for 2028.
  6. Thats Erik!! mason just committed and decommited from broth!
  7. Bassetts birthday is August, 2006 he is 18 I may lose my mind if I see his age mentioned again he will graduate at 19 turn 20 before his freshman year. Yes he is old but its not something that has not been done before and will be done again.
  8. Different sports but with all the Rutgers chatter I think it is worth noting that they were able to sign the 2nd and 4th rated kids for the 2024 high school class in basketball. It would appear that they have some serious NIL money floating around somewhere. I'm not sure if that necessarily means it's there for wrestling but worth noting none the less. His cousin Mason is also a freshman there this year.
  9. I just thought it may be worth noting that Japan could very well have the second best guy at 61kg as well. Yuto Nishiuchi lost to ono 3-2 at their version of nationals and he is a 2x u20 world champ notably beating lilledahl 5-0 in the finals in 2023.
  10. So so happy for Sammy to even be able to get back out there. I don't know that we will truly know where he's at until CKLV if he opts to wrestle there. The first 3 dates on the schedule do not have NCAA qualifier caliber guys to throw out against him.
  11. The Iowa injury thing is so tired. Spencer tore his ACL his senior year of high school and missed most of his junior season the year before that hes just had injury issues the way Iowa trains had nothing to do with that. The only other guy I can think of that had nagging injuries for them is Kemerer but he and Spencer are both young guns products so if we are citing all this data off of two guys then maybe its a young guns problem. Iowas main issue to me has been a lack of development in attacks and scrambling. Guys don't really seem to develop their offense there to the same level as they do other places and they always seem a bit behind in the scrambles. Bo has a lot of offense and is a good scrambler already so I think they can probably take what he already does well and just weaponize it even more.
  12. His brother is Joey blaze Purdues 157.
  13. Asher sorry not Hayden but hayden grey shirted so asher may as well completely forgot about ryder.
  14. 125: Lilledahl 133: Davis 141: Blaze/Perry 149: SVN 157: Duke/Kasak/Facundo 165: MM 174: Haines 184: Barr/Cunningham 197: Mirasola 285: Mirasola/Transfer every person in that lineup besides Haines would have one more year of eligibility at least for the following season. Next team race maybe 2030.
  15. great for his development, unfortunate for any college wrestling fan that's not a PSU fan.
  16. I did not feel like Cael was giving maximum effort in those it seemed like every time he turned it on Mitch was on his back. Cael probably has 40lbs on him though. Cael was top 5 in 2011 DT is still top 3 at a very tough weight so I think DT by however he wants at this point but prime vs prime I have no clue.
  17. what's shocking is he's still only 24 so 2 years younger than Daton was when he graduated. Also means he could potentially have two more olympic cycles left in him.
  18. Really hoping for Ohio state, I just want a team race again. PSU getting Duke + blaze would probably be a wrap for another 4 years.
  19. Not what I expected to see when I opened x also not entirely sure how in the world, he has eligibility but I'm here for it.
  20. 125: McCrone maj Cruz 4-0 0SU 133: Davino dec Ayala 7-0 OSU 141: Mendez maj. Block- 11-0 OSU 149: Parco dec D'Emilio 11-3 OSU 157: Teemer dec Gallagher 11-6 OSU 165: Caliendo dec Sasso 11-9 OSU 174: Kharchla dec Brands 14-9 OSU 184: Arnold dec Welsh 14-12 OSU 197: Buchanon dec Geog 15-14 Iowa Hvy: Feldman dec Kueter 18-14 OSU I'm not sure sammy being back matters a ton in the dual certainly in March. I think Peterson goes at 125 but until we see him hard to know for sure. Even if Davino does not start I could see them using him for this dual given he gets 5 dates. Kharchla over Brands feels like a true toss up to me Nelson has not looked great but I expect him to at least get marginally better as the season goes on and its hard to tell where Kharchla is at. I gave Arnold the edge over Welsh because I think he had his number in high school and I dont expect either guys to open up against one and other.
  21. Braeden Scoles another Askren product at 165.
  22. Give us 141 first and 184 last probably my two favorite matchups and it guarantees viewership throughout. edit: 149 has a ton of intrigue too how does SVN look after a year off and did Watters make a jump to title contention?
  23. Bama has a WR that reclassified so that he could enroll a year early and im not sure if he still is but he played most of the season as a 17-year-old. I personally think for PJ,Jax,Bassett,Blaze,Lockett get nothing out of another year of high school aside from being a kid which is completely valid and I think enjoying that trumps making money sooner. All of them are ready to AA right now and worst-case scenario you spend a year on red shirt but get to spend it acclimating to campus life and in a college room full time.
  24. PJ duke expressed that he will stay 70kg and wants to make the world team next year. Assuming both Green and pantaleo wrestle at trials I think PJ will be the 3 seed. At this point in their careers I think it is safe to assume that Green and Pantaleo are no longer getting better at least from a physical standpoint where as PJ is probably making the most strides he will make in the next year or two. The same can be said for Marcus Blaze who I assume will also be the 2 or 3 seed for world team trials if he goes 61kg. Forrest also took 4th at trials albeit from a Desanto default so hes probably worth noting. I would probably not predict either guy to make the team next year at least no right now although I give PJ better odds simply because he does not have to beat Vito. A lot has been made about our lack of success this year but I think when you look at the possibility of putting two 18 year olds on our team and having confidence that they could go medal it paints a better picture of what the next decade of United States wrestling could look like.
  25. I am sort of hoping with it being Beards last year they roll out Brignola and stanich and just see where the chips fall.
