he wrestled 160 his junior year of high school I believe that was the most recent
-
perhaps I'm looking at his career in too short of a time frame but I truly think what he's done from 2018 to now has been relatively unparalleled in both dominance and consistency.
-
I feel confident in saying DT was not in his prime when he was wrestling JB and he also was far too big for 163.4. Yazdani has lost 8 times in his career 5 of those are to David and those are his only 5 losses since 2016. It's a pretty fair argument to say Yazdani would be a 7 time world champ and 2 time olympic champ if DT was not walking this earth.
-
my only concern with SVN is health, I think this may be his third injury dating back to high school that has sidelined him for nearly an entire season. Generally guys with that type of injury frequency just keeping getting hurt, but I hope I'm wrong and he can stay on the mat because he will be in the discussion to win it next year.
-
I think if David wins this olympics he's the goat simply because if David Taylor never existed Hassan Yazdani would almost certainly be the goat, and DT is 5-1 against him. you can definitely argue given how long it took him to make the team that dings him but I don't think anyone has had a better 5-6 year stretch than David from 2018 to present day. I almost posted this and then remembered satiev, I am willing to go with a tie for first.

Olympic Trials State College Guide
Truzzcat replied to stealyphil223's topic in International Wrestling
the field has very good burgers but its in toftrees resort which will likely be absolutely packed. champs is a cool bar but its more of a college vibe federal taphouse and voodoo brewing are going to be a more adult crowd and also have very good food. If you just want something quick id highly recommend el Jeffes its like chipotle but significantly better. Toftrees is gonna be about 10-12min from BJC same with voodoo and then the others I mentioned are all in walking distance. -
I thought Olejnik made a big jump this year in terms of his offense despite his finish not really showing that. Could definitely see the same for Dean.
-
Ohio state has hammer but unless rogotzke and geog make jumpes and sammy can get back to close to his best form (I really hope he does hes a great kid and it would be an incredible story) I dont think they have the volume of scoring options psu has. They should still qualify all 10 next year and have at worst all their guys push close to the blood round +MM,Levi and I assume Kerk likely being in the finals and kasak,SVN,Lilledahl? also potentially getting there

Who will win OTTs at 57kg, 65kg, and 74kg?
Truzzcat replied to peanut's topic in International Wrestling
Vito Alirez KD but I think he could wrestle KOT and not JB in the finals DT Snyder (I hope Aaron moves up but probably a pipe dream for this year) Large Greg -
agree! I more so meant by the time he graduates.

125- Spratley 133- Hughes 141- Jamison 149- Williams 157- Saldate/Travis 165- Hamiti 174- Brayden thompson 184- Plott 197- Surber/Cody Merill 285- Carroll (I hope) Doucet if the freshman can make some good jumps in level with another off season + weights losing guys this seems like a pretty dangerous team
-
I would not be shocked if he ends up at 184 he is really think but has a huge frame
-
I really don't think age is much of a factor once you turn 20-21 you should be pretty much physically matured at that point. there is of course the extra years of repetition but in most cases these 6 and 7 year guys seem to fall off from their peaks in maybe their third of fourth year. Obviously being 16 as a freshman in high school and 19 when you graduate is a big advantage. I would have loved to graduate 2 years later than I did because I grew another 4 inches and 35lbs in college.
-
I bet saldate follows. Hes DC trained and has always had mma aspirations post college.
-
can you imagine the pins that team could rack up if it were true with KOT,Hendrickson,Surtin that would be very fun
-
rumor has it Hendrickson has a year left and is looking at mizzou not sure how that works with the academy but cp and willie both reported it
-
Im pretty neutral on Iowa not a huge fan but I also do not dislike them. It is pretty hard to argue though that they have not been developing guys to the same degree as a lot of schools especially in certain positions namely scrambling. Their track record at NCAA's for seemingly the past decade has been terrible too. I cannot think of the last guy that really over performed to what was expected and perhaps its not fair to hold them to the same standard as PSU but they seem to be able to do that every year. I don't know if thats a result of beating their guys into the ground so they are too banged up or are just not enjoying it but something definitely has to change.

yes he should still have his covid year!

I feel very comfortable seeing the list that Vito or lee would qualify pretty comfortably at 57kg. I think we need to hope Dudaev qualifies here we absolutely do not want him at last chance he looked unreal at euros and beat Rashidov. Alirez teched Haji last year, and while hes still definitely dangerous I feel pretty confident Alirez or yianni would beat him. If lee wins the spot i'm still a bit apprehensive given his relative lack of international results. If zain navigates through the trials i feel good about him as well obviously I just don't think he can perform after the weight cut.
-
I think Keck is pretty married to UNI at least from the bits he has said as well as Schwab and willie but money talks. I am personally hoping both little rock guys stay that will sort of be the final nail in the coffin for small programs if they leave. I would lean Mirasola over Cochran. I know Cochran had the big win over Slav, but he got beat 20-6 by beard and 13-6 by Cardenas so I don't know that he has a great ceiling at 197. It was in freestyle but Mirasola beat wick and max dean. I am hoping TB can snag that 174 spot or he transfers want to see him get on the podium.

Who needs to compete at the last chance qualifier?
Truzzcat replied to Hammerlock3's topic in International Wrestling
Johnny seems like a bad example because of how much special sauce he was "allegedly" taking pre usada. I think the move up came after and he actually looked physically smaller at 185. DC wrestled 197 when he was in community college so he did cut to 184 but he's never had a build that was extremely devoid of body fat. -

Anthony Knox registered and Jax Forrest mentioned that he was hoping to wrestle in this after he beat Larkin at boarder brawl would be rather insane to have 2 high schoolers at the same weight (Lilledahl qualified by taking 5th at senior nats) and 3 in the tournament including mirasola. -

I think its crazy that if you win a age level silver/bronze you are not qualified. Perhaps not at u17's but for instance Jesse was not qualified until he won NCAA's because of his junior world silver.
