  1. I genuinely believe with the way the schedule goes combined with the USAW tournament setup rather than selection by committee that this is the best approach. The rep has to peak for OTT and Olympics no matter what. The tricky part is this worst-case scenario. The rep has to peak for at least Pan Ams. THEN we hit the muck. It's great in theory and I support sending the current rep under definition of 1 season = WTT to OTT but USAW created "The Gilman Rule" specifically because of 57 not medaling last year. Of course, Gilman lost TWICE and if everyone is so butthurt about Richards losing then they should *really* be worried about the guy who proved throughout the calendar year that he wasn't the best rep. So now you have to peak for a 3 match series AND og last chance. It's a lot. But would you rather hit a series of peaks from March through May or peak b2b2b all in a row? Neither is a good solution honestly. But given our selection system of keep what you kill then this seems to be the least bad option.
  2. It makes sense from a fiscal perspective if one takes off their (much richer) American hat. Countries are required to compete in the games in order to participate at the Olympic qualifier. Why double up on planes, hotels, and other travel logistics for a February tourney and a May tourney when you can visit a single city for one week and knock out both tournaments.
  3. Call me when Team USA isn't consistently finishing top 3 and then I'll be open to revisiting the qualification process. This may come as a shock, but only one person can win a wrestling match and sometimes that doesn't work in the favor of the person you wanted it to. Or maybe it does, like when I was rooting for Austin Gomez to beat Nick Lee.
  4. Austin Gomez becoming an Olympian can mean only one thing: FIRE BONO

  6. No changes should be made. The US is in a golden age for freestyle. If it's not broke then don't fix it. Just remember to keep focus on where the wrestlers are from rather than the laundry they are wearing.

  12. Umm don't look now on the international board but Bono brought a potential olympian out of retirement. Teched some scrub from Penn State by way of Indiana.
  13. Maybe the non-wrestling board should reconsider their thoughts about the border

  20. Was Wisconsin previously getting recruits at this level? If yes, what was Wisconsin doing to them that capped their growth? If no, what has changed about the Wisconsin program? Ask this in a different way... What changed? Wisconsin University or the success of Askren Wrestling Academy? Now also take in mind that Askren holds one hell of a grudge. It is what propelled him to a dominating NCAA career and becoming an Olympian. He seem like a laid back doofus that dabbles in the devil's lettuce while wasting his money on crypto while throwing bangers and getting skinny on the frisbee golf course, but you think someone at his level is actually chill? Nah. Bono is just Barry to him.
  21. What exactly do all the Bono haters expect? B1G titles? No one is competing with Gable/Iowa 2.0 in Carl/PSU. It is one of the best programs in the world. Not NCAAs. THE. FREAKIN. WORLD. Iowa is consistently a trophy-winning program that includes a recent team title Michigan and Ohio State have deeper pockets than anyone else Minnesota has a strong history and has been able to continue performing after JRob stepped down Nebraska has a strong program that pumps out the occasional world team member Right there you are hoping Wisconsin finishes top 7. Anything better is overachieving. It's not a bad thing, it's just facing reality.
