    I don't care how good he is, Koy Hopke needs to redshirt. He's not going to win a title next year and the guys on the senior circuit aren't going anywhere. He should use the season to transform into a brickhouse and be in serious contention for 2-4 titles depending on how his development comes along.

    This conversation has/is playing out currently albeit at the senior level: Kyle Snyder vs. Sadulaev. And because of Sadulaev's dominance, Snyder is not in GOAT contention despite being the closest actual comp to this hypothetical comparison where he has been ahead of everyone pretty much the entire time but he can't get past an even better wrestler who happens to be the absolute most outstanding wrestler of the past 10 years

    John Smith couldn't go undefeated in the world tournaments he won. If he wrestled a traditional bracket tourney then he would not have 6 golds. Burroughs has a Mickey Mouse 7th title in 2021 at 79 eight weeks after the Olympics but he earned the other 6. Advantage: Burroughs. And good call-out that Snyder is one of the best but THE best of his generation was in front of him. Tank>JB

    It's not up to the people who run the sport. It is up to the International Olympic Committee. They said "Hey wrestling, thanks for the shakedown money and in return you can have 72 medals across however many versions of your sport you want and you have to do double bronze to increase interest. Figure it out."

    Not belittling, just pointing out that Elor entered in pretty much every single other tournament. For what it's worth I think anyone who makes a senior team (top 3) should lose all eligibility below. If you can hang with the big dogs it's time to quit playing with the age group. If you win a world senior title you have absolutely no business in age group stuff as that's stealing developmental opportunities.
