  1. In 2028 that different story practically writes itself. Dake will be the first junior high kid to compete at the olympic trials and in his path is a bald old man named Keck who will stop at nothing to keep him from accomplishing his dream
  2. Yep, this is the one for sure
  3. I buy into the Keckeisen hype, but methinks if he runs into Dake that he might get a quick takedown in the ways Dake is susceptible domestically (ala ankle pick or blast double to shrug) but he either gets Dakebombed or bails every time as soon as Dake touches his legs. I also think Keck is like Yianni in that his folkstyle funk would do better internationally than domestically.
  4. Agreed. 2016 Cox had to win a bracket featuring Taylor and Dake and former world silver three years prior Jake Herbert; then he competed in the World Cup back when countries actually gave a crap about it where he beat Iran returning world bronze Karimi (also beat him at Rio) and the Euros runner-up, then he won the global last chance qualifier since the US didn't qualify the weight yet. Zahid has quite a few pelts on his wall, but I strongly believe 2016 J'Den beats any version of Zahid.
  5. I'm guessing Mason Parris must be hurt. Any chance he recovers in time for WTT to compete for the other Final X spot?
  6. Don't forget that Iowa has the most popular Director of Operations the B1G Ten Network has ever seen. Folks are quick to forget that Caitlin Clark is a distant second in the race for most popular women's alum in Iowa athletics history and screen time proves it
  7. UWW follows Olympic transfer rules with an accelerated timeline to allow world championships competition to be, essentially, unimpeded when transferring. Given the precarious nature of wrestling on the IOC's shakedown chopping block, I highly doubt UWW will enter a scenario that could ruffle IOC feathers if the wrong series of events occurs at the wrong time.
  8. This is yuuuuge. Big kudos to national treasure @Jon_Kozak for providing the additional context. Looking forward to the follow-up over the following months. My prediction: they are forced to sit out unless agreement$ are made at the local level. UWW wants nothing to do with country politics and absolutely will not overstep IOC regulations.
  9. I thought wrestling was invented in 2011 when Cael took over PSU and Burroughs burst onto the world scene?
  10. If we are being honest, it is most likely because viewers are hoping for at least a high-level breakdown of dominance stats + guys returning in the respective brackets rather than doing their own research. I may have statistically lived a few years over half my life but I was still wearing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tighty whiteys when this tourney was wrestled. ETA: That is absolutely not saying anyone should provide those stats. I am only pointing out a potential reason (busy and/or lazy).
  11. No wonder idiots on the internet want them to be fired with consistent results like that
  12. Carl only cares about NCAAs, worlds, and french fried potaters. The results speak for themselves.
  13. Dake isn't Christian he prescribes to the Egyptian gods. He has spoken at length on FloRadio about the sacrificial ritual of offering his taint to the sun god Ra.
  14. Oh no is Ono going for a coveted US U23 spot?!
  15. "Thanks!" - all B1G coaches
  16. Look I'm going to be real here when I say that it's super fun that Carl couldn't give two hoots while Taylor is hosting the event and Magic Man was fantastic when it came to disappearing until two domestic finals matches and worlds
  17. If you no what I mean and you no what I mean
  18. Realistic? Lilledahl Misslebrank Haines Mirasola Welsh Might (probably) forgot someone. U23 is always a domestic and international crapshoot... some years Hendrickson is the man, other years Richie Lewis is the world champ. ETA: Lilledahl will probably get better domestic and international competition at juniors
  19. This provides more evidence to my argument: if you build it, they will come. If you do not provide opportunities for high school guys to either 1) Cut drastically 2) Provide a next-weight growth outlet that is not in respective line to a 125 moving up to 133 or even 184 to 197 3) Go on a hardcore bulk job and permanently change their body in an undesirable way. Not everyone wants to be 245+ Then the numbers will never be there at the college level. The titty boy dancing bears in college are rapidly becoming a thing of the past. They exist the same as itty bitty guys who are career 125s by default - they can fill a roster hole but we all know they aren't doing anything.
  20. Seeing Caliendo/Iowa as the face of the tourney with an OkSt guy hanging his head in defeat was not the image I expected
  21. Carl: "You got a plan or something?" Magic Man: "Yes, it's a very popular plan with buy-in from fans, coaches, and wrestlers. Your program is invited as the guest of honor." Carl: "I don't like your plan that's stupid."
  22. What?! No way. They have been the best thing since wrestling was invented in 2011. Stay classy Sandusky U.
  23. Spencer Lee could have wrestled at Buffalo University and still been in the olympic finals. He's that dude.
  24. The Raney boys have world aspirations. Illinois put multiple people on senior world teams last quad in both styles. Iowa had zero the entire quad until Spencer Lee saved the squakeyes from a quad shut-out and I think we all agree he would have had a much different career arc if he went literally anywhere else. Cherry on top: Illinois' 133 beat Iowa's 133 twice last year, including in the NCAA finals. I know where I would pick...
