No one would have predicted Jordan Burroughs, some random American kid who barely won NCAAs twice to become the best wrestler in US history. No one would have predicted Kyle Snyder to bounce back from a juniors bronze + getting pinned in 90 seconds to becoming the P4P best in the world from 2015-17. No one would have predicted college J'Den Cox to even make OTT or WTT finals at any point with his style, much less have stellar international success. No one would have predicted David Taylor, who was never better than 3rd best domestically at any weight, to pack on 33 pounds and at one point become the P4P best in the world. No one would have predicted Gable Steveson to enter his first senior international tournament and go absolutely gangbusters on the olympic bracket. Then again, no one predicted Wyatt Pindrickson to beat him a few months ago. There is precedent. It is an intimidating changing of the guard, and following our renaissance generation is certainly intimidating. But if I have learned anything this season, it's that this crop of young guns is cold as ice and not afraid of the lights on the big stage.

Northwestern is east of Northeastern, south of North Shore, and has a student population lower than Chicago Heights. 'Bout all the nice things I can say about those Kellogg folks and their corn flakes from my booth.

Kristoff was an olympian and both his sons won NCAA D2 or D3 titles as well. One of his sons was one of our coaches for Team IL and I'm pretty sure the other reffed at least one of my matches at state (but that could be a fake memory at this stage in my life tbh).

It's not surprising whatsoever. Primary points are based off previous year's championship results at the weight currently being contested (eg. Dake would have 0 seeding points at 86) and supplemental points from rankings series (4 total tournies this year not heavily attended by any single athlete) + continental tourneys (1 per region [Pan-Am, Euros, Asian, Oceania, African]). Out of the Team USA roster only 12 total tourneys were wrestled and none more than twice. Given the turnover of the team and the fact that a couple guys were wrapping up their junior year studying for the SAT, the numbers don't lie. Zagreb Tiran Mongolia Pan-Ams Budapest Total (Feb) (Feb) (May) (May) (July) 57 Spencer 1st --- --- --- --- 1 61 Forrest --- --- --- 1st --- 1 65 Woods --- 3rd --- --- --- 1 70 Duke --- --- --- --- --- 0 74 Carr 2nd --- --- --- 3rd 2 79 Haines --- --- --- --- --- 0 86 Zahid 1st --- --- 1st --- 2 92 Hidlay --- --- --- 1st 1st 2 97 Snyder 1st 3rd --- --- --- 2 125 Pindrickson --- --- --- 1st --- 1

You are correct. One time we shared a ride that he ordered and I can confirm he is a "LyftMormon"

Largest private landowner in the state of Illinois is the Mormon church. We tried to do our part by sending Joseph Smith to the ultimate test if his fake religion was the lucky eternal winner but alas the almighty dollar speaks loudest to this day.

No you just be confused. James Toaster Streudel informed us all that Rademacher is transferring.

In Carl's defense, many of us also treat Flo, Basch, and Mineo with contempt.

Don't know I'm not a journalist or law enforcement officer or Carter Starocci. I'm simply an idiot on the internet.

My bad thought it was a dig. I don't mind putting my name on what I said
-
You can @ me next time. I said literally all I could on the matter because the only info I had is that at least two people, including one ESPN journalist, had been assigned to look into it. The furthest speculation I said was "I bet we find out very soon if this story has real legs to it."

Chamizo took a lot of losses at 65 when he was out due to transfer 2012-14. Took 4 losses the year he won worlds and two when he won Olympic bronze the next year even. Career record of 52-11 at 65kg (and was not allowed at 2012 Olympics through 2014 worlds). Which speaks to the level of parity at 65 on any given day.
-
That's the thing about 65 - it is widely considered the toughest bracket annually, has the most consistent turnover on domestic teams due to athlete peak on an annual basis, and because the margins are so tight due to high-level talent each year you could wrestle the bracket ten times and have at least 4 different champions and 20 different medalists. Parity example: 2021 Yianni got rocked by Tevanyan who proceeded to lose next round to someone who lost next round, both went home without repechage; in 2022 Yianni beat Tevanyan round 1 and went on to silver while Tevanyan lost R2 repechage; 2023 Yianni didn't even make the US team and Tevanyan went on to win bronze. Turnover example: From 2021-2023 there were 101 participants at 65kg worlds/olympics): 61 wrestlers represented their country one time during that span, 22 made their national team twice, and 18 made their national team three times; none made it all 4 times (recognizing that there was disparity at 21 worlds since it was a mickey mouse tourney immediately following Tokyo olympics) Exactly two wrestlers had multiple medals across those four tourneys: Musukaev and Bajrang. The point is 65 is so tight that it's a crapshoot at best.

Not a chance you can find any proof of that. Dude redacts faster than an Epstein list.

What a load of Cochamamie

Wasn't ASU also for competitive purposes on top of coaching? I think that was the season he threw everyone on the senior circuit

I've said this before and I'll say it again: his head is massive. MASSSSSSIIVVVVVE. Barry Bonds levels of enormous. Just sayin. And for the record I really don't care if dudes are on gear - all the top athletes are. What I do care about is the monumental pile of hypocritcal crap being spewed. -
