  1. Gable isn't going forward. Again.
  2. Braeden Scoles should be on your radars. He will finish top 4 at B1Gs and NCAAs. Quietly went R12 as a freshman losing in SV to Amine in the blood round and finished 5th at B1Gs last year beating Minto along the way should say all you need to know. Wouldn't be surprised to see yet another AWA kid continue a high upward trend.
  3. Oh yeah?? Hold my beer!!!
  4. Agreed on all accounts. But that is moreso because Takatani didn't seize the opportunity to remain the starter this year after consecutive world medals and father time is 1) undefeated, and 2) very unkind to older wrestlers making a comeback after an extended layoff.
  5. This is why I clarified with the ETA. I just assumed we were talking about the A team which would be Takatani, not Takahashi.
  6. @Ragu didn't know this thread
  7. I wouldn't put much as much weight on the result of an offseason exhibition as I would an olympic finals appearance and a world bronze the year prior. Not saying Carr can't repeat the result, just that it doesn't carry as much weight as it would if it were to have happened at a rankings tourney. ETA: Takahashi is competing for Japan this year. Carr beat 2x medalist Daichi Takatani. My comment remains the same.
  8. And favorited on paper at 97 as well considering the most recent result was 5-5 Yoshida over Snyder in February. Emphasis on "on paper." That is 6 weights in favor of their A team.
  9. That guy looked older than Bo Bassett
  10. People care about the laundry, not the style.
  11. That's an age group trophy. Seniors is all that matters when it's all said and done. It's not like anyone is saying "That Richie Lewis was the baddest dude I know! He won a U23 world title!" And don't forget the Fix vs Lee slander on Lee's age group accomplishments that was being brought up merely months ago as further proof.
  12. 157 Kannon Webster is the closest "outside of top 7 is a dark horse" as long as we all agree that 125 cannot be included in this conversation
  13. But we can't have weights that match UWW. Because we have low participation. Because the weight class doesn't fvcking exist.
  14. His matches against Bassett really speak volumes. It's an open secret that dude is as old as the "cadets" from IND and should be actually competing in the Master's division, meanwhile Stanich can't even shave yet. Solid stuff from the young gun. Also, he was a true frosh AA. His only losses were to the national champ, a couple AAs at NCAAs, and some high school kid named Jax Forrest. Only fools would still be sleeping on him.
  15. This says everything about 65 in the US. Yianni broke through with a medal, but even he was stuck in the domestic dance. Retherford may have brought home a medal last year after consecutive world finals appearances up at 70 (I lend more credence to people who win the OGLC tourney than pretty much anyone not Russian or American), but we will never know due to the concussion. The point is that 65 is always new faces globally and the US is behind - always has been.
  16. Sadulaev was literally a world champ at his optimal weight twelve months ago. He only goes 97 for Olympic purposes and because he wanted to take on Snyder who was on the same path. When he goes 97 he looks like he eats pancakes for breakfast... everyday. Give respect where respect is due. 39 years old post-cadets? Don't care. BAMF. GOAT convo.
  17. Matt Koz Ben Ashmore Brett Robbins
  18. A salary cap is the best thing for Olympic sports and also should absolutely not be allowed. As I have always said, death to the NCAA but that also means death to our sport domestically.
  19. As previously mentioned, the degenerate in me will take that action. Name your wager

It was previously brought up that the request was denied.
  21. He is a lock for bronze or silver, depending on whether he is on the same half as Sadulaev or not. Learn to read.
  22. Spencer and Snyder are the only locks. In order of medal confidence: Anything less than a world championship for Spencer will be disappointment. Snyder and Taz should be seeded apart, so bronze at minimum depending on where the Russian Tank lands. And you know he will be locked in. No QVs to the red light district this time around. Carr, Zahid, Hendrickson could all 0-1 BBQ or make the world finals and I would just shake my head and say "yep." Hidlay is getting the homecrowd bump 'round these parts but the reality is 92 is nails even on a post-olympic year. He will have to hit a higher peak than he ever has if he wants to medal. Haines doesn't seem due yet, but then again he has already made his first world team going into his senior year so who am I to say anything. I am pessimistic, but honestly don't know what to expect so hoping for a good showing. JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPION Duke will get senior world experience and begin building his career. I hope he draws Musukaev off the scale and doesn't let him take any cig breaks so we can rip the bandaid off and get this show on the road. Woods will get some good overseas experience at the toughest weight in the world. Good luck Real, Illinois is rooting for you!
  23. My brain says under at 3. My degenerate gambling side says I'm hammering over 5.5 because I like to make donations from the heart.
