  1. It worked in DC. It should be worth a try at some other crime riddled locale. Chicago could really experience a renaissance with 1 killing a week and less than 10 shots fired a week. Alas, that is so far out of scope with current practices that it seems like it is time to try something different. mspart
  2. Oregon too. OSU wrestlers will have to practice with masks and dual with masks. The science is in, the masks did not protect. It is just another power grab. mspart
  3. That would be quite the promotion. mspart
  4. I can't argue with any of this. mspart
  5. I could see WA trying to do this. They love everything CA does. mspart
  6. The left wingers have been in control for eons and the poor have gotten poorer and more added to their ranks. More D control is going to resolve that? If you can keep a generation uneducated, then that generation and on can be controlled much more easily. Which party wants to have control of your life? Ds with their equity demands or Rs with their opportunity demands? mspart
  7. I saw the malaise with parents when living in Hawaii. The poor locals there had not much hope of anything. Their kids go to school but learning is not the most pressing matter. The parents do not support the schools in any meaningful way because they don't see how it helps their kids. Hawaii is essentially a few rocks in the middle of the Pacific with no natural resources to exploit. So tourism is what keeps it alive and tourism does not need great education. Just bodies. And so that is where they are at. But the fact that the schools are failing so horrendously doesn't give them much hope either. And the schools there were crap years ago when we had our kids there. I don't think they have improved since we left. In WA, the OSPI demands that Kindergartners be able to tell what their gender is and the identify 3 other genders? To say this is more important than reading, math, science, art, etc is what is wrong here. The priorities are not what they should be or the test scores would be better. mspart
  8. See my previous post. Schools have recently gotten a lot worse. Now nobody gets a decent public education as evidenced by Harvard having to institute remedial classes for incoming freshman who are supposed to be the cream of the crop. mspart
  9. Why are they poor? Ds have been in control for eons promising better results just around the corner. But it never happens and the poor stay poor because the schools do not demand enough. And the parents do not demand enough. mspart
  10. And as a geologist, and past EMT and weapons guy in the army, you would know this how? It sounds like you are a defund the police guy. Quite radical. mspart
  11. So what is the issue here. When Ds get in they can un redact it and point to all the Rs. I say release and let the consequences go where they should go. mspart
  12. Your two posts don't seem to have any relevance to each other. I'm still not following. I guess it can be summed with with R bad, D good. mspart
  13. Socialism is the clown prince of economic systems. All are equal, but as history has shown, some are more equal than others. That's just the way it is because privilege and power has its rewards. That is anti socialist but it is how the socialist world works. mspart
  14. https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-black-voters-gains-results-1982939 President-elect Donald Trump won more Black voters than any Republican candidate was able to do in nearly fifty years, an analyst said Friday. CNN's Harry Enten looked at different demographics in the 2024 election, finding big gains for the GOP candidate compared to previous election cycles. Trump's voter base remained white and working-class people, but the rise in the number of other groups, including Black, Hispanic and first-time voters allowed him a pathway to the White House. "The breadth of the improvement Donald Trump had... holy Toledo!" he said on CNN News Central. They voted for him in greater numbers than ever before. mspart
  15. I'm for equal opportunity. mspart
  16. Exactly. Cleaning up the city is setting a troubling precedent? Reducing violent crime is setting a troubling precedent? Having residents feel safer is setting a troubling precedent? How much more in the tank can you be. it is obvious the Ds and the press are against clean and safe cities. mspart
  17. I'm not getting where you are going with this. mspart
  18. Yeah, that was pretty quick. I don't think they even knew they had a problem 1 second after the hit. mspart
  19. So everyone should use this trick to keep taxes low? It is RV approved to avoid paying taxes that they otherwise would pay? It's like getting free money? I thought you were against all this with all your calls to soak the rich and raising taxes on everyone and all. mspart
  20. So you are actively finding methods to avoid paying taxes? What happened to we don't pay enough taxes? Reducing taxes is good for thee but not for he/she. I get it. It's called hypocrisy. mspart
  21. Kaos is the enemy of the people. Anyone who promulgates it is also an enemy to the people. mspart
  22. Speaking of Bowser, the below is from WAPO and it says, D.C. Mayor Bowser issued an executive order that would welcome federal law enforcement officials to stay in the city indefinitely, an indication of her willingness to cooperate with President Trump’s effort to take over public safety in the District. https://www.facebook.com/washingtonpost/posts/dc-mayor-bowser-issued-an-executive-order-that-would-welcome-federal-law-enforce/1149775563680984/ Of course MSNBC has a different take. https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/trump-dc-mayor-muriel-bowser-executive-order-police-rcna228607 There's a cost to the way Muriel Bowser is trying to play the game with Trump The D.C. mayor's cooperation with Trump might be a strategic play — but it has consequences. mspart
  23. Say it aint' so. UN workers working for Hamas and keeping hostages. And now AlJazeera folks working for Hamas? No way, I don't believe it. There is no way this is happening. There is no way that news coming out of Gaza is tainted in any way at all. Hmmmm mspart
  24. I have been to Istanbul and Bogota for work. Istanbul in 1996 or so. There were armed guards at the entrance to malls and historic sites. I can't tell you how violated I felt. Just kidding. I did not feel unsafe or uneasy other than my hope that these folks had proper gun training. I was in Bogota during the cartel time. Bogota was safe but I was told not to leave the city limits. There were armed guards on all the carreterra overpasses and mall entrances. Again, I felt safe, much safer than if they had not been there that's for sure. Red Herring that armed officers of the law create a feeling of unsafety. Totally. When the area is crime ridden, no one is going to have a problem with increased officer presence. The only exception are illegals and people who act illegally. mspart
