  1. I like the current arrangement where I know the information already but I pay them to recite it back to me and they get it wrong.

  2. @grogs84 reached out to me the other day and and asked me if I wanted a data set that contained every result from every match from every tournament from 1988 - 2021. Uhhhh, does a swimmer spit in the pool? So, if you like more of these data driven discussions make sure to throw a thank you his way. On the other hand, for those of you who were hoping I would run out of ideas and data, whoo boy, look out. On the same day our own @Husker_Du offered me a better version of the Big Board to use. Rather than use what is posted on Flo (a mishmash of when they were wise enough to have Willie do it and when they were not) I got the pure stuff, right from the source. I have both data sets hooked up straight to my veins at this point, and I am ready to roll. Not telling what is going to emerge from my fever dreams now. Thank you both, gentlemen.

  4. 99.9% sure that was the year that the rules changed to allow pins if any part of the body was inbounds. I think that was also the same year that the line was changed from being the boundary to the edge. But that was also almost two decades ago so I should 100% be fact-checked.

  6. The only reason I subscribe to Flo is because they have some actual wrestling tournaments streamed at points throughout the season. I don't read their articles or rankings (unless otherwise prompted) and would appreciate if they reallocated some of those "resources" toward enhancing the user experience for streaming wrestling tournaments and duals. I use the monthly subscription to Flo because I choose a month or two here and there where there a bunch of streamed events and am basically a part-time customer.

  9. Embarrassing. I tagged the wrong Bernie. It gets worse. I didn't recognize there was more than one Bernie account. I've been confused as to why 'Bernie' was posting differently than 'Bernie.' I was an idiot, and I apologize for being an idiot.

  10. @jross and others can corroborate my ability to read and write well enough to not "tag" the wrong person. A modicum of logic would come to the conclusion that I was responding to jross' mention of me. Why else would I join this little soiree? I was wrong when I previously said nothing has changed in this forum. I think the average IQ has gone down in the 6 months since I was last here. Sadly it's approaching that of other social media.

  11. I hope Evan Thick shows up just completely jacked out of his mind and has an ass that would make Nikki Minaj jealous. I want to see full-on Marvel superhero workouts with Hugh Jackman and Chris Pratt posted in the days leading up. Something that would make even Kyle Snyder say "ooooooo this thicc boi deadlifts" Hopefully he finally went through puberty and filled out his frame a la Taylor. Just maybe with different treigning methods. Or not! Just be less puffy than Zahid and we are good!

  12. I'll bite here, just because I don't want people to be more stupid after reading this stupid OP. Him coming in allows Joles to go 197 which in turn also ensures that both Max McNelly and Gavin Nelson both get to redshirt this season. Then both of them can run four years with Hopke as a 8-9-10 punch (Hopke to not redshirt).

  13. Squirming is something I definitely look at. Bottom guy legit squirming? He is not stalling. If the top guy is "legit working power halves" but staying on the squirming man's hips and still nothing is happening, I'll give him a little bit of time. After a while it is going to be a stalemate. If the same situation is happening with no scoring, it will probably be stalling on the top guy eventually. I probably give the top man more time than most refs in my area, but at some point he needs to get a turn or get to a new position.

  20. It was a bit of sarcasm but also we don't need the massive IRS to have those things. Get ride of the loop holes, go to flat or vat or combination, other etc and reduce the excesses and waste.

  22. Those lights are no joke. It messed my 1 eye up bad. I had a patch on it for a few weeks then sunglasses for a few months. It still has issues with the sun and bright lights. I have broken many bones and have had 2 kidney stones and that was definitely worse. I know Willie will agree there's nothing worse then that

  23. After 9/11, my interactions with Muslims opened my eyes to a different perspective. I've worked alongside a Muslim colleague for over a decade, and I envy his kindness and humility. He represents one of the billions who adhere to the fundamental tenets of Islam, pray regularly, and harbor no intolerance to non-Muslims. Similar to the Quran, there are controversial passages within the Hebrew and Christian Bibles that extremists interpret to rationalize violence. Some extremist groups lay claim to Christianity, yet the majority view Christianity as a religion that promotes peace. More than 120 scholars have attested to Islam's core message of peace. Understanding the nuances of religious texts is complex, especially when coupled with sociopolitical issues that can lead to violence. Some of y'all are making misguided generalizations about Muslims. I think this comes from America's indoctrination, as well as the mental shortcuts and cognitive biases that prevent nuanced understanding of different viewpoints, like those shared by @BerniePragle.

  24. Watching the Yogi Berra documentary on Netflix. Good stuff. Actually has a short interview with Hudson Taylor regarding Yogi’s support of LGBTQ athletes. Impressed that Hudson has such a leadership role in the community.

  30. Not sure how a lack of repeat medalists is definite proof that the weight class is harder. Interesting stats but it is just as easy to say it is a softer weight class because there has been any dominant generational talents who can win year after year.

  31. It seems that 3pt does not appreciate hard work and what it can do to open doors. Not surprising viewing the other things he has written. I've seen this play out. I have 5 boys. One is a hard worker, has various businesses he owns and is successful and makes a lot of money. Yes, he got some breaks. But it was his hard work and do not take NO for an answer that made him successful. He tries to get his brothers to take such entrepreneurial risks but they are unwilling to put in such effort. So they are not as successful as he is. All are very smart, but he is really the only one that takes action. They all started similarly. I have to say, I am not near as bold as he is, so the other 4 take more after me. I'm not sure where the one son got his drive at but that is the difference. He makes more than me. Now to be fair, I have another son that got a college degree and got a job at a place. He quit and got a better job and more pay but not like the one son. But he's doing ok. Another has an associates college degree, but has a pretty good job doing maintenance on equipment. But there is no upward mobility there so he will soon hit a ceiling but it is good for now for him. He is under 30. The other two are younger and basically retail workers, min wage type jobs. Their outlook is not as good. They have no future education (academic or trade) goals so they are essentially stuck at HS diploma level type jobs, unless they take after the one brother. It is the drive to succeed that makes the difference. What I view as risk, my one son views as opportunity. If he spends 40k to make 80k, that is money well spent and he makes the difference and then the whole thing the next year. I don't think that way. I think, where would I get the 40k, and then how do I get the work to get the 80k? He is a wonder for sure. For instance, he decided he was gonna do snow plowing. The truck and rig cost right around 40k. He figured he could easily make 120k and had contracts already lined up. He has been doing that for a few years. Part of that is spreading salt when it goes under freezing. He makes a lot of money for little actual work, even here in Seattle area. He and his wife have two other businesses that bring in enough money to live very well on. mspart

  36. There is a repeat champion if you include the 2020 Olympics which took place in 2021. Otoguro won those with Aliev Silver and Rashidov and Barang with bronze. That tournament is more indicative of the worlds best than the 2021 WC as many of the top guys did not attend that. 5 of the top 6 countries placing at the Olympics sent a different rep to the 2021 WC - the 6th Hungary did not send Musakaev or anyone else.

  38. Also, the Michigan Benedict Arnolds should show up just to blow up the brackets, errr I mean to get additional experience. I would pay all the moneys for a Micic/Lee match. Pure fireworks.

  39. I've condemned Hamas explicitly over and over again. As for ethnic cleansing, we are talking about a hypothetical scenario where IF Israel forces the Palestinians to leave (which many Israeli politicians have said publicly btw), that would be ethnic cleansing. And that is a major reason surrounding countries will not take in a mass migration of refugees. They don't want to be party to ethnic cleansing in that scenario. Half the problem in this thread is you guys get so spitting mad, you start arguing against positions nobody is advocating. You're just yelling into the void.

  40. It is single elimination for the challengers. That winner will take on Richards and Lee best of three.
    1 point
  41. Agreed. Thanks BNW. So it is the challenge that I am confused about. This would have to happen before OTTs. How will that work? mspart
    1 point
  42. Current WTT member unless challenged. Olympic Last Chance will be the OTT winner but hopefully will not need to be attended because whoever goes to Pan Am continental qualifier at 57 and 65 gets the job done.
    1 point
  43. It really does not seem to be advantageous to any of the challengers to do so. They force themselves to make scratch 3x instead of just once if they win: challenge tourney/match + Pan Am + OTT. Especially at 57. Knowing how tough the cut is for Gilman, Vito, Fix, and Richards it really does seem silly to make weight multiple times when the strategic advantage is to only make Richards make it 2x (Pan Am + OTT). At least Vito can sit until the semis (and same with Retherford if he decides to cut back down to *65 which the eye test says will be a tough cut). I get the whole competitor’s mentality aspect but strategically I don’t.

  44. If the weight is not qualified at Pan Ams there is a last chance qualifier that is world wide. Top 3 qualify the weight so they wrestle to true third. Pan Ams does not wrestle to true second. Both finalists qualify the weight.
