The buying and selling of products or services is normal business. Auditable business. The Bidens established over 20 llc.s and bank accounts with only one product: Joe’s vote.3 points

Wow, a graph. OK, now I'm impressed. You realize that's more of a cartoon. Real graphs have axes labels, scales, things like that. I retract what I said about the course at your local Community College. You're not ready for that. Just stick to re-posting whatever tickles your fancy. In the words of Harry Callahan, "A man’s got to know his limitations." No mas.2 points

I remember Konishiki ( The dump truck). He was huge. Konishiki had 200lbs on most everyone, He outweighed Akebono and Musa by 100lbs. I don't remember Mainoumi but looked up the match. That's great thanks for sharing. Konishiki outweighed him by over 400lbs. 630-2252 points

I was living in Japan, briefly back in 92-93 when Akebono, Musashimaru and Konishki (remember him?) were all wrestling. Wak/Tak were great to watch back then. I remember seeing the smallest rikishi at that time, Mainoumi go against Konishki....probably 200+ pound difference. I truly enjoy watching the smaller rikishi with their speed and agility go against bigger and heavier ones. The fact that there are no weight classes in Sumo is an amazing part of the sport. I highly recommend a book, The Way of the Salt for anyone interesting in knowing more about the history and tradition of the sport. Once I left Japan, there was no way to follow sumo, so my interest went to zero, but with YT and several dedicated ppl in Japan, we are able (albeit, NHK, who owns the rights to broadcast) to watch. Several also broadcast on Twitch, but time difference makes in almost impossible for watching where I live.2 points

Happy Saturday... Just saw Jacarra Winchester TF Mariana Dragutan of Moldova 11-0 and checked her ticket into the finals. Looked strong in that bout... she'll be going up against Karia Godina Gonzalez of Canada in the finals. D32 points

You guys crack me up. If the politician you like makes promises, that is good policy. If the politician you don't like makes promises, that is buying votes. So sweet. So innocent. All policy is buying votes. All politicians do it. Reminds me about the transfer debates that go on around here. When your team does it it is wrong. When my team does it it is smart.2 points

Sure, it looks like two giant angry babies titty-bumping in a sandbox, but it's actually pretty awesome. I ask the title question because I'm hooked on the sport, and I wonder if anybody else watches. Earlier today, the first matches in the July tournament took place. A fellow by the name of NattoSumo posts all of the first division matches on YouTube. He keeps getting banned by the Japanese government's TV station, but he keeps coming back. He is now NattoSumo7. This was today's card: There was major controversy in a match, as it appears that the judges gave a win to a wrestler who didn't deserve to win. You see, nothing but the soles of your feet can touch the ground before your opponent touches. In this case, Golden Boy Hoshoryu seems to have grazed his fingers along the sand before his opponent fell to the ground. Exhibit "A" below. It was not seen by the judges, or it was ignored, even though they have a replay system for close calls like this. Hoshoryu is my favorite wrestler so I kinda dug the no call. There were other aspects of today's bouts that were interesting, but I won't bore anybody with them if there is no interest. In any event, here is Exhibit "A," which is particularly damning if you embiggen the image to see the sand falling from the hand and the line drawn in the sand:1 point

2023 World Team non-Olympic weights playoffs. On Japanese National TV! Competitors: 55kg- Rino Kataoka(Meiji Cup winner), Moe Kiyooka(2nd at the Meiji Cup to Akari Fujinami, 53kg) and Haruna Okuno(3rd Meiji Cup, 53kg). 59kg is going to be crazy. Nagamoto(Meiji Cup winner) Risako, Sae Nanjo(Lost the 57kg playoff match to Tsugumi Sakurai almost at the buzzer), Sara Natami and Inagaki(dropped down to 59 from 62(placed 2nd at Meiji Cup, 62kg). The funny thing is.....ALL of these competitors were from the same wrestling club until the Kawai sisters left. So, needless to say, they all know each other VERY well. 65kg- Mahiro Yoshitake(Meiji Cup winner), Yukako Kawai(dropped from 68kg, placed 3rd at the Meiji Cup, 68kg) and bumping up is Nonoka Ozaki(3rd at the Meiji Cup, 62kg) 72kg- Mei Shindo(Meiji Cup winner), Sumire Niikura and bumping up from 68kg, Miwa Morikawa. Morikawa lost an extremely close playoff match to Ami Ishii a few weeks ago for the 68kg spot.1 point

Every day there is another article on Yahoo with some 30-something year old with $100k in student loan debt who feels betrayed or helpless due to the “forgiveness” being quashed. Obviously, not everyone owes that much, and, honestly, I’m not really sure how much $10-20k would help those specific people, anyhow. As far as cars go, there is an impending crisis ahead with auto loans, specifically due to the 20-29 and 30-39 age brackets being 90 days or more past due on $20 Billion in auto loans. This will undoubtedly go up when student loan repayment kicks in. I haven’t once criticized this current “forgiveness” plan. I simply stated, if it is to fix an error, great. If it’s to pull “a fast one”, not so great. I meant to stick with my fictional performance art history, but you got art history in my head. Either way, do those numbers show the whole picture? Are they average salaries for all art history majors or are they the average salaries for people with jobs that require an art history major? Are the art history degree jobs invariably in high cost of living markets? It shows the highest average salary being in SF at $84k, where the average house costs over $1.28 million. Raw numbers here alone do little good; they would need to be weighted and compared accordingly. Lastly, does the country need more art history majors at this time? Are there already 10,000 people with art history degrees but only 1,000 available jobs? I don’t know. This is all information that’s out there, and someone who loves statistics and making algorithms could definitely compile all of this and come up with a method for more mindful lending practices, both for the benefit of the borrower and the country as a whole. To close this out, I’m more interested in actual solutions to the student loan problem, not just throwing good money after bad. Forgiving $10-20k isn’t even a bandaid, and there would be repercussions to doing so, from increased inflation to increased interest rates on student loans in the future, as loan servicers will have to factor in their lost revenue and the potential (likelihood) of further forgiveness and lost revenue in the future. Student loan forgiveness isn’t victimless- Jobs will be lost and lives upended.1 point

After watching a few of Gable's matches here (and note that I am in my 60s) I find it hard to reconcile my memories of him with the fact that he is a far older man now - his legend always precedes him in my mind. He was a force of nature during his time.1 point

again... why are we doing the student loan thing. we will just end up right back where we are in a few years. lets address the real problem skyrocketing costs in higher ed.1 point

That’s an excellent explanation of the National Guard. I appreciate that. I’ll check back to see if you feel like answering any of the questions put forth. In this case particularly, why most of the defense leadership at the time (largely appointed by the president at the time) disagrees with your assessment……except for the highly regarded Kash Patel!! Got a brisket going for some burnt endz dinner. I’ll check back in with ya this evening. Rrrrrrrastafari!!!1 point

Oh, by the way... I looked on the UWW site for this Budapest tournament, and looked at the medal winners, especially w/ the women in question. Individual Neutral Athletes, or in that foreign syntax of things, Athletes, Individual Neutral/AIN... but I got to hand it to you for finding that region in France... good find, sir! D31 point

Wow... after a lengthy break for a challenge that USA's Johnson won (63Kg repechage bout), the Moldovan Ciobanu then head pinched him and proceeded to ragdoll Johnson for 12 points and then pounced on him for the fall as soon as Johnson remained flat on his back. Johnson is not getting up... injury for sure. D31 point

I love Sumo. I started watching it in the 1990's when Akebono and Musashimaru were working their way up the ranks. Akebono was Hawiian born Chad Rowan and Musashimaru was American Somoan raised in Hawaii. Musa was an accomplished Greco wrestler. . They were the first 2 foreign born Yokazuna and both were huge 525lb plus wrestlers.. I contracted for Japan Gas Corp for several years and kept following sumo through the Yokozuna's Takanahana, Asashoryu and Hakuho the GOAT all of which were smaller 340 lb range but very athletic . as well as the Ozeki Kaiho. All of whom retired. They are really hurting for a superstar but haven't had anyone consistant since Hakohu. I would rather watch Sumo than Basketball, Soccer and Baseball.1 point

Professional sports are fixed and all the outcomes are predetermined by sports betting companies and the respective league heads. Everything is scripted and likely written by professional writers for the best storylines to garner attention. Just use the google for many articles and proof that sports are rigged.1 point
