I saw somebody on Twitter say that Willie jumped on the mat during the brawl, full of bud heavies. I watched back and didn’t see him.

Did I miss something or is this just usual Twitter misinformation?

He's 4'9". He gets lost in a crowd real quick.

isn't he also riddled with gout? He's have to sort of amble his way unto the mat.

Here's what I get with a simple Google search:

NFL linebacker Willie McGinest was charged with felony assault (assault with a deadly weapon and force likely to cause great bodily injury) following a December 9, 2022, restaurant brawl in West Hollywood, CA. Video showed McGinest punching a man and striking him with a bottle. He turned himself in, posted $30,000 bond, and later apologized for the "lapse in judgment".
Key Details of the Incident
  • Location/Date: The incident occurred on December 9, 2022, at the Delilah restaurant in West Hollywood, CA.
  • Legal Action: McGinest was charged with two felony counts: assault with a deadly weapon and assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury.
  • Video Evidence: Footage obtained by TMZ Sports appeared to show McGinest punching a man in the face and hitting him with a bottle.
  • Response: McGinest surrendered to authorities on December 19, 2022, was released on $30,000 bail, and later issued an apology, stating he took "full responsibility" for his actions.
  • Context: The altercation reportedly stemmed from a comment made about the former NFL player.
Other "Willie" Brawl Incidents
  • Willie Colon: Former NFL guard Willie Colon was fined for his role in a 2014 brawl where he protected teammate Geno Smith and engaged with Titans safety George Wilson.
  • Willie Pedersen: A contestant in a "Rough N Rowdy" boxing match who passed away following a fight in 2017.

Heard it was a great show and definitely not a corny wannabe mix of UFC and WWE pageantry that accidentally whoopsie daisy! Wrestlers got screwed over, useless bench-clearing fights occurred, hobbits broke their ankle... good drama!

He first appears at about 5:05 from the top center of the screen. Jeans and black shirt.

At 5:25 he is pretty prominently featured trying to calm down Georgio’s brother in the green shirt

Idk the rules for Georgio's takedown challenge but maybe Willie was looking to make an easy $1000

Folks preliminarily sign a waiver in case of injury.

It also serves as a sort of questionnaire to validate experience level.  If someone is a 3x D2 NQ and he says he once rolled around at a BJJ open mat with his uncle's brother's cousin, it makes the contract null and void.  It has happened before.

Poullas is a content creator.  What he does isn't a takedown match.  He adjusts his gusto depending in the talent level of his opponents.

All those videos where the 40 year old guy at the beach who just went surfing and dabbled in MMA for two years or so, yet gave him a run for his money?  Nah.  He would have smoked him, were he to have just gone for a takedown himself.

Watched Chael's recap this morning. He mentioned "a friend of mine named Willie ... he's one of the people that's gonna come to the mat and calm everyone down ... Willie ends up getting his leg broken in two places". Ouch. Then on to Izzy...I didn't know he got punched twice. Wow. Anybody that has access to the mat, I would think would know who Izzy is. If it was anything other than somebody was throwing a punch and Izzy's head got in the way, that's a big problem.

Chael I think made a great point, though. There's a difference between an open handed club and a punch. I'm not sure Arman took the clubs from Georgio as what they were and that's what riled things. Although Georgio did throw in a couple of eye pokes, which didn't help.

Looking forward to hearing Willie's take on Basch's show when that happens...

He didn’t really comment on it much other than to explain how he broke his ankle

I just watched the match and the very first one that Arman had an issue with was just wrestling, nothing big. The pushes, are again wrestling. You do far worse than push people on the mat. As the match went on though it seemed like Georgio became frustrated with what I would say were overreactions and steadily increased the power of his clubs to the point where I thought they were excessive. At that point I think Arman got what he wanted, which was a reason to punch Georgio.

At least that is what it looked like to me and I had no skin in this game when watching.
