This might be the season of the Braxton Amos coming out party.  He out wrestled Bastida for most of their match and looks big and strong at the weight.  I’d imagine that having Cassioppi in the room is helping a lot.

It's the Amos we all wanted years ago.

If Bono wasn't such a Turdbiscuit...

Seems like we may yet another success story of bumping from 197 to heavyweight…definitely no need for a weight in between

Anyone know what Amos weighed in at? He looked good sized. That pull to 197 must have been killing him.

He looks 30-40lbs bigger than the 197lb version of Braxton Amos.

He should’ve went to West Virginia he’d be an AA already, his accomplishments are in spite of his head coach

If he went straight to Illinois RTC he'd be a multi-time greco world team member and maybe even medalist already

Keep in mind he hasn't made the pull to 197lbs was the 2023 NCAAs.

He has had time to add good weight and get healthy.

Wisconsin having a solid first week-- I still have never heard anyone explain why they dont care for Bono. Seems like they may have a good team this year.

Look at their last 3 years and that's all the explanation you need

Look at all the talent from Wisconsin doing big things across the country.

Look at how many of them are doing it for Wisconsin?

I don't actually dislike Bono that much. Some things get blown up like the Burwick release that... wasn't on Bono.
But the fact is, if you could keep Wisconsin kids in Wisconsin... or even like...half of them, you'd have a top 5 program. Wisconsin hasn't done that.

He and Askren don't get along. The why is moot. They don't.
The kids who are from Wisconsin but Wrestle at Pinnacle, they have a strong pipeline to Minnesota.
The Crass kids aren't quite as aggressively anti-Wisconsin... to the point where they'll rank their top 80 programs and not have Wisconsin listed among them(almost as if they're trying to think of schools they'd go to over Wisconsin...which is mildly amusing).

But they're not good. And they're not good in a very different way from when Barry Davis was there. They're not good in a way that they should be able to be a top 10 program with a coach who had a better relationship with coaches and people in the state.

Because Wiscy U consistently produced AAs and finalists nearly annually under Barry Davis.

Bono cannot recruit within his own state which is going bonanza, and I'm not talking about elite prospects like Keegan O'Toole who went to Mizzou or Mitchell Messenbrink who went to Cal Baptist or...

A recent example of a local miss is 4x state champ Brandan Scoles who chose Illinois and finished R12 as a frosh.

He had Hilger and Wick already on the team, somehow landed and ruined Amos, won't sign off on transfers. But Fugit he can stumble into success occasionally.

Amos great sized. I believe he weighed in around 270?

outweighed Bastida by 30 or so.

Isn't he still making 97kg for greco? Very hard to believe he's anywhere near 270, but admittedly guessing.

6 years out of high school would normally be late to the party.  Amos is only a junior.

He looked like all of 265 to me. That is one stout young man.

I might be willing to be convinced...
