Nebraska has guys at potentially 141, 157, 285. Would anyone else have more options than that? Iowa with 184 & 125 & 141 only.
OK State 125, 149?, 184?
Iowa State 149 if its wrestled at Big 12s & 285.
Ohio State 133, 141, & 285

if you squint really hard Okst has a shot at 125,133 (based on styles),141,149,184,285 I would say 184 is the only one they would be favored in though.

NC State - Cornell?

125 - Robinson, NC State VS Lilledahl

133 - Ungar, Cornell VS Blaze

141 - Saunders, Cornell OR Jack, NC State VS Davis

149 - Joy, Cornell OR Buesgens, NC State VS Van Ness

157 - Shapiro, Cornell OR Arrington, NC State VS Duke OR Kasak

165 - Shapiro, Cornell OR Arrington, NC VS Monster Mitch

174 - Ruiz, Cornell OR Singleton, NC State  VS Haines

184- Ruiz, Cornell OR Singleton, NC State VS Welsh

197 - Hannity, Cornell VS Barr OR Mirasola

285 - Trumble, NC State VS Mirasola

I tried to go with Non-B1G schools as well as teams who aren’t currently favored to finish Top 4.

The North Carocornella Big Red Wolves would need to bump and avoid bonus in some key matchups.

125 - NCBRW 3-0

133 - Tied 3-3

141 - NCBRW 6-3

149 - Tied 6-6

157 - NCBRW 9-6

Arrington bumps

165 - Tied 9-9

174 - Penn State 12-9

Ruiz bumps

184 - Tied 12-12

197 - Penn State 17-12

Trumble needs the fall.

285 - NCBRW 18-17

SOOOO... the Neworth Carocornella Big Red Wolves need to win several (all) matches as underdogs and pin to win at 285lbs.

So far, it seems PSU loses at 141, 184 and 285…to Nebraska, Okie State and the Gophers.

But…if you combine their rosters, you have the exact same problems: 125, 133, 149 (bonus), 157, 165 (big bonus), 174 (potential bonus), 197 (big bonus).

PSU are title favorites at 149, 157, 165, 174, and 197. That's half the weights. In addition, 125, 133, and 184 are title contenders.

You can't pick any two (or three) teams to be favorites against them on paper. You would have to assemble a team from the field to have a chance *on paper*.

Here's my dual team to take them on. I optimized for not giving up bonus points at the weights that PSU is a heavy favorite over the field (149, 165, 174, 197).

Robinson (NCST)
Crookham (Lehigh)
Mendez (tOSU)
Johnson (ISU)
Shapiro (Cornell)
Caliendo (Iowa)
Facundo (OKST)
McEnelly (Minn)
Little (LRA)
Bastida (ISU)

You're wild if you think Arrington bumps up a weight and holds MM to a decision.

I said everything would have to go right.  I never said I thought that would be it.  I said this is the only way it could happen.  It has a nonzero chance of happening, were this the dual matchup.  I wouldn't bet on it, though.  You did notice I gave the North Carocornella Big Red Wolves every single swing match (and then some), right? 🤣

I think PSU would be favored against the combination of any two teams this year, but I probably thought the same thing last year at this time.    Yet at NCAAs Nebraska/OkSt combination outplaced PSU at 125, 141, 149, 157, 174, and HWT.

21-9 PSU and that is without factoring bonus which would lean towards more points of PSU. These bumps are preposterous as they guys bumping would be underdogs at both weights.

My actual prediction?

125 - Lilledahl over Robinson via DEC
PSU 3-0

133 - Blaze over Ungar via DEC
PSU 6-0

141 - Davis over Saunders/Jack via DEC
PSU 9-0

149 - SVN over Joy via MAJOR
PSU 13-0

157 - Kasak over Shapiro via DEC
PSU 16-0

165 - Monster Mitch over Arrington via MAJOR
PSU 20-0

174 - Haines over Singleton via MAJOR
PSU 24-0

184 - Welsh over Ruiz via DEC
PSU 27-0

197 - Barr over Hannity via TECH
PSU 32-0

285 - Trumble over Mirasola via DEC
PSU 32-3

Like I said... every break goes one way (and then some).  I was just trying to get creative.

Not quite the same because you’re choosing the better of two options after the fact.

I don't think anybody beats PSU in the next couple years. Aren't literally all their returning starters All Americans, and high finishing All Americans at that?

I suppose OSU or NU might sneak up on them if they can pull off some upsets at NCAAs, but I don't see it happening.  I'd be happy if OSU finished within 10 points of PSU at NCAAs.

OSU would need someone else to pull some upsets ... maybe Duke?

Would the best shot be an Iowa / Nebraska combo?

125- Dean has beaten Lilledahl. I would be shocked if he beat him again but he has done it.

133- Ayala would be the favorite over Blaze for now.

141- Hardy would be the favorite

149- SVN is gonna beat whoever gets thrown out

157 - Antrell is the returning champ

165- MM wins

174- PK and Minto probably have as good of a shot as anyone at beating LH (but I don't see it happening).

184- Ferrari would be the favorite

197- Barr wins

285- Both AJ and Ben would be favorites as of now.

You would have 4 favorites (133, 141, 184 and 285) and two maybes (125, 157).

This is laughable.

Kasak - Taylor happened twice and Taylor looked like a JV High Schooler in both of those matches.

If its Duke, then the match may be closer. Additionally, Peterson did beat Lilledahl the one time that they wrestled (though I would I never pick that to happen again).
