I don't want people to miss this in the longer thread about Bartlett.  Yikes.  And the PSU coaches don't come off looking great, either.

That's a pretty good article- thanks for sharing! What kid keeps over $1000 worth of stuff in their school athletic locker?

I'm here for the chicks

I am done. As a PSU alum and massive PSU wrestling fan I am finished with PSU wrestling. How many times is Penn State going to go through this before a coach learns? I doubt you'll see me around here much longer since I have no interest in rooting for another program and I won't be watching PSU wrestling anymore. I really have no words to describe just how braindead these people are.

A nice watch and pair of shoes were probably all it took to get to “$1000 worth of stuff”

Somebody who doesn't think their teammate is a thieving pile of trash I guess.

$1000 is chump change for the PSU wrestlers 🙂    But seriously, an iphone is $1000.  A watch, shoes, gear, ipad, could easily get that high and its not like its any "school athletic locker", I would guess its a fairly secure area where only  a few people have access.

Wow even several people on PSU board thinking this could cost Cael his job.

I did miss the part originally about them saying Starocci “may not be signed to NLWC”

A few people + random underage girls, apparently

How can he be the center of an investigation but the real cops were never involved, and the rent-a-cops (campus police) never were able to contact him? Seems like a load of hoopla to me.

If this is true he 10000000% should lose his job. Every coach at Penn State should. And anyone in the administration who was made aware of anything should lose their job too.

The University Park Police are not rent-a-cops though. University Park, Pa (the campus) has its own zip code and own police department.

I don't want Cael to lose his job, but the "may not be signed to NLWC" seemed like a PR/damage control statement.

It's not like Carter's behavior was enough to keep NLWC from training him through the trials and Final X true 3rd match.  The "maybe" seemed more like, its not done yet and if this blows up then we actually might not..

100%

He was absolutely going to be a member of the NLWC until Bartlett started talking. They can say all that garbage about fun and it just being a wrestling match but in reality Cael built a win at all cost culture and it’s coming home to roost.

The mods at the BWI board have already locked the thread on this article, less than 4 hours after posting.

Which would have happened on our previous board.

All hail the great Bob & Du!

How could the police not contact him from December to June if I’m reading it right? The PSU match schedule is public.

But seriously this some really damning and bad stuff

If even half of what's in that article is true, Cael should be out of a job. I'm curious to see how many notable people who were inside the PSU locker room at the time come out to defend Starocci (and Cael).

Something that is very telling is that they clearly protected Starocci the entire time he had eligibility. But the second it was gone, they were ready to not sign him to NLWC.

As its an investigation, any contact can be refused.  Police can then "bring him downtown" and interview him formally, which if they did that, he would theoretically HAVE to attend, but could refuse to answer any questions.  That's the 5th Amendment to the Constitution i.e. "you have the right to remain silent..."
