Because the state official is in control of the federal agency, obviously.

You are a lawyer.  Can the boss. (Gov) ask the ag to look the other way …. My lawyer friends seem to think so…….  I know plenty of a states attorney’s who were fired when an opposing colored boss showed up (mayor , gov etc…..).   It is common practice from what I hear amongst your profession.

100%, I'm sure federal AG Pam Bondi was strong-armed by state Governor Hochul.

but in NY... D's get off?

So the Governor is secretly in control of a federal agency and got them to drop the charges?

Now that’s a problem with both sides.  When the lawyers judges etc and politicized it’s almost game over on both sides.

we’ll be Colombia or South America or Africa or whatever “corrupt” means at some point.  The justice System needs to be pure and it doesn’t feel like it is any more on either side of the political Spectrum.

It's the only logical explanation.  A person might say that, alternatively, the whole thing was a lie and the feds story was BS, and they arrested him just to score a headline and then quietly let him go without filing charges.  That person is clearly an idiot, because the more likely, and clearly 100 percent true explanation is that the governor of New York controls a  federal law enforcement agency

Hard to argue with that.

Good to see Husker coming around to the reality of our current situation.

I really don't see what the guy did wrong. You need a Warrant to just take someone. Asking for the Warrant is... pretty standard. We're not just going to accept Govt' agencies coming and rounding us up now without a warrant, right?

The agent saying, 'oh, we've got it.' Well...then provide it!

We all know he did nothing wrong - which is why he was released shortly thereafter. That, and the fact that he was a notable figure who couldn't simply be stashed away somewhere conveniently.

Just as Husker just admitted, the current administration is crooked.

Their agencies round up people without warrants on a regular basis. Some are "disappeared", and nobody hears from them - just as they do in Russia and China. Others are transferred to holding facilities far from where their support system could help them.

This is the type of cruel behavior that the US Constitution doesn't allow.

Yet, it is exactly what the Trump administration is focused on doing - and they are accelerating this crookedness.

Probably because the entire incident is on camera with dozens of witnesses and he very clearly did not assault an ICE officer.
